Update, now they are trying to extort me for 5x the original membership cost, and threatening collections against me if I don't pay them $600. Bunch of scammers. I spent a very short time at this gym, most of the equipment is broken, hard to find a working treadmill or stationary bike. Management is never on site to fix any concerns. Most of the equipment is in dire repair status, zero upkeep for years. Many broken machines, benches falling apart, I've even had an injury because of one of the benches had an exposed screw that pierced my skin and made me bleed. After the first week I started to notice how unsanitary this gym is, there is always piss all over the floor by the urinals, the taps are too small for the sink, and water goes all over the place creating a mould issue, that you can smell, so you can't wash your hands properly. After about 3 weeks and they had already charged me almost $100 for a maintenance fee, and fixing nothing, I tried to cancel my membership, they wouldn't cancel and because extremely rude and toxic. Even threats made against me, they then tried to say I had to pretty much pay my entire year membership cost to cancel, which is ridiculous lol. These guys are real scammers, threats of collections against me, and I told them exactly why I wanted to cancel. This gym really does not live upto the world gym standards, and that's exactly why I cancelled. They obviously don't real their own contract. I would say this is probably the worst gym in Ontario, and the worse gym I have ever been in, in my life. I would avoid this place. read more

Terrible gym, on time we paid, never maintained and not repaired the cable for 3 weeks inform to manager they repaired after 3weeks during our workout time . Also do not sign the contract kind a trap. Staff are so rude read more

Terrible gym. Management is never there including week days to resolve issues. I came in on a Thursday at 3pm to resolve a billing issue and was told management had to be there for them to do anything... also you need to give 60 days notice for a cancellation.. I was billed late fees for months without the gym notifying me despite the fact that my credit card has no issues on my end. And when I spoke to someone at the front desk about it they said they had no idea and they couldn't help me. It's a sneaky gym that will gouge you for anything they can. If you don't stay ontop of payments they'll start billing you for no reason with no explanation until you catch. This place is borderline criminal. read more

why I see people working out without shoes, it's not safe. I thought people had to be with proper shoes and not slippers, crocs or flip flops in the gym. how can the gym allow it? read more

Been at world gym Scarborough for almost 5 years now. There are two membership options, $10 basic (which gets you access to the equiptment) or $20 (includes classes, hydro massage, 1/2 off smoothies, free wifi) I absolutely love the classes, I can attribute most of my weight loss to the group workouts. The instructors are great, they push you and ensure you're not slacking in their classes. It can get a little busy after work (between 5pm-7pm) so you may be waiting for some people to finish up on machines. The gym is 24 hours so there's a lot of down times when you have most of the gym to yourself, which is kind of nice. Definitely recommend! read more

Both staff and management are amazing. Brij at the front has always been helpful and gone above and beyond. The whole staff are handpicked A1 personnel. The gym is always well maintained and got that old school hardcore feel if you're into that. 5 stars read more

The management at this gym is very dishonest. Gave me a hard time to cancel during covid and sent my name to collections. Reached out to them so many times and no one return my calls and very generic emails with no specific personal signature. They are very UNETHICAL. very disappointed in the way they handled my account. read more

Favourite gym in Scarborough. Great rate of either $10 or $20 per month. $20 gets you access to classes, tanning beds, massages, and 50% off the snack bar. I've been happy with the basic rate. There are maintenance fees charges yearly. Full sized gym with enough cardio equipment, and weights. Also has a basketball court, women's only section, spin room, half sized day lockers are available, sauna room, showers. You're a parent? No problem. They also provide a day care center. Got a great rate for personal training sessions with Owen. He really knows how to bring my workout to the next level in only 30 minutes. Mornings are the best since it's not too busy and you don't need to wait to use any equipment. Would recommend this gym to anyone who lives in Scarborough. read more

World Gym - Gyms Near Me - Scarborough, Ontario

Great price. But the gym itself needs a major cleaning and facelift. Everything looks and feels grimey. But when it's off peak hours, it has everything you need to get the job done. Other than cleanliness, good overall gym read more

Scarborough location. Pricing, the best value: Generally, the equipment, great and in good repair: Hours are very good. Clean enough for a budget gym. Good trainer mix, lots to choose from. The problem with this gym is the administration. They must hire anybody with a pulse. You will never encounter more morons under one roof. One after the other, they are incompetent. From joining to trying to terminate your contract after the one year termination date. They will do anything to make you do another year, including lying and feigning help. You may not receive a copy of a renewal, so your contract will go on, for another year and difficult, of not possible, to be cancelled. Be aware. It is not an unusual situation, according to many reviews, US and Canada. Keep all correspondence. You will be stuck. They may very well be counting on it! Do not move away without cancellation, which was my circumstance, they may have to see you in person to cancel. Nothing on co tract, no. UPDATE: Finally no deductions from them. First notice of cancellation sent, November - a month prior to anniversary date. Last payment April. After find a responsible person to correspond with, through my outside trainer, who has some influence in the city. Unless I could pay a year in advance with no CC reference, I'd never do it. Poor souls that have little money, and what they must go through. read more

The dread head light-skin girl is very rude and disrespectful, other staff members are cool and kind. The gym is okay for the price but the secret fees and over draft fees that goes on throughout the year are bad and has ruined the gyms reputation which is the main reason why people complain. I thought the maintenance charge was a one time thing but it isn't. The owner might want to get a new financial adviser and systems programmer unless they are just money hungry and ruthless. but its pretty dope gym if it were the real members price. Goodlife is a bang for your buck world gym is not in the long run because of there stupid rules or messed financial adviser or system programmer. read more

Unfortunate experience with this gym. After being overcharged past dues I had gone back to the gym to settle the payment which was done and received a receipt . Received a call from a collection agency a couple of weeks later saying I hadn't paid. I told them I had the receipt and they said the gym hadn't called to clear it. I made a follow up call to World's to let them know that they needed to call the credit agency (I shouldn't have had to this). I requested that they call me back when this was cleared to confirm which didn't happen. I then followup through email many times with a response. I'm sure if it was an email about joining I wouldve had a response within minutes. Shady practices and very poor communication. This is not how to run a business read more

couldnt cancel during covid and they are now trying to charge me 300$ they are scam artist never sign up with them!

Had a such amazing experience at this gym till recent Covid-19 situations and how the team try to handle the payments of their 10k members. Poor handling of people accounts/ payments. They did not reach my self or my friends many others through email instead they decided to keep charging. As I scrolled through the review I see other members are going through similar situations. This resulted in a huge amount that I had to pay. When I try to contact them in person and try to freeze my account I was told to come when manager is available. Very poorly handled and I'm very disappointed I wouldn't recommend this member ship to anyone if they lowkey going to take my money and not notify me. AT THE END OF THE DAY MY REVIEW WONT MATTER TO ANYONE THAT RUNS THE WORLD GYM I STILL HAVE TO PAY MY $700. read more

I've been coming here on occasion for over a year. Had a hiatus in 2015. Chose this gym primarily for the 24 hour 7 day availability since my previous job had random hours. The cost is good for 10 bucks a month, but in March and I think September they charge you am additional 20 bucks for cleaning and maintainance. Total in a year is about $150, which by comparison is cheaper than most others. The equipment is maintained well, there are good cardio and weight machines. Free weights to. There is also a court in the back and a females only section upstairs. They will allow you to look around if you're interested. The biggest flaw is that it can get busy, especially after rush hour. I recommend during the day or after 730 if you can. 3-7 I find is horribly busy. read more

If I can give them 0 stars out of 5 I would! This is the WORST customer experience I've received EVER! I requested to cancel due to medical reasons exceeding 6 months & I was advised I can do so with a doctors note. As per their instructions, I did exactly that and the manager is STILL REFUSING to cancel it and now all of a sudden I can only put it on hold. I asked her if I have this condition exceeding 7 yrs will they still charge me to put it on hold annually and she said yes with attitude. I have to question if I'm dealing with people at this point. I spoke to other World Gym ownersin Ontario to verify the validity to her statement & they said she should have been able to cancel it! I have medical & therapy bills to pay I shouldn't have so much grief over $140 knowing that it's peanuts to them! read more

This place has gone way down hill since new management took over. I just had to try 7 treadmills before I could find one that works. Also 3 of the stair machines are out of order. Found a pad stuck to one of the shower stall walls last week. Def would no longer recommend this gym it's currently a joke. read more

They are vultures only looking for your money. Find another gym! It's dirty. The equipment is disgusting and the owners only care about profit. There are many other gyms that will care about your health and not just what's in your wallet. read more

Do not go to this gym! They only care about taking money out of our pocket. The 10$/month membership is a scam when they have high hidden maintenance fee which they deduct TWICE a year. Other gyms only deduct a lot smaller amount and that too only once a year. Their amenities are not the greatest either. Definitely not worth the money you are investing. They also do not care if you are a person with a disability which is why we have decided to cancel our membership from here. No thanks. World Gym, GOODBYE for good! read more
