I have ready many reviews here and on the Net from people who want to put a label of Pyramid Scheme to WFG instead of Multi-Level Marketing, which it is a MLM, not Pyramid. However, I understand their mission and it is a good one -- to help middle income families save for their retirement or nest eggs and I found it extremely helpful. I realized how shortsighted I was at understanding all my options with my money. WFG is a quite legitimate business model. You must be licensed by the State Insurance Commission, and there are many requirements and oversights from them to ensure that WFG does not conduct illegal transactions. Regarding "Still Waters Run Deep" 's review below, he may have disliked the WFG associate's approach of him, and many would agree with him; but the reviewer offers no other substantiation of why you should not listen to the products offered by the WFG associate other than this one associate's approach. The reviewer has offered only his opinion of the approach, but he has no idea what WFG has to offer. He should have given it a shot, and may have discovered that his "life insurance" that he already has may be sorely short of maximizing his investment and payoff. WFG does pay very lucrative commissions. They sell products from legitimate sources. In affect, they are sales associates for the different insurance companies -- saving them huge administrative costs for maintaining a dedicated sales force. The agent who contacted me said he was an annuity agent representing TransAmerica and other carriers. Once I signed up to broker annuities all of the paperwork was WFG. I expressed concern and was assured they were the back shop to help. I was then charged $200 a month to sign up and then they wanted $15 a month for platform fees. For any agent out there licensed to sell annuities run for the hills. You can be appointed by most any carrier for free and you do not need WFG. They are not ethical. read more

My advice when WFG comes up in any context is to just run like hell. If you must deal with them... 1) Be VERY VERY VERY sure you know exactly what you're buying if you purchase anything from one of their agents. 2) Don't work for them. Feels like you're being recruited into an MLM scheme One of their agents did a bait-and-switch with my mom. I've already spent 3 hours just on the phone with the insurance company and probably 15 hours on top of that trying to untangle this mess. My mom specifically requested a long-term care (LTC) policy and noted her concerns about the policy potentially lapsing in the future, but the agent instead sold her a universal life policy with a LTC rider. In case anyone is interested in the why, it's because a life insurance policy pays out higher commissions than a LTC policy. The agent GUARANTEED no more payments would be necessary after a certain point to keep the policy in force*, told her multiple times it was a LTC policy, and glossed over the specifics of what it would take to go on claims. I've also heard from other people who have worked for them that it's not uncommon for their agents to misrepresent what they're selling. * A universal life policy does not work this way unless an exorbitant premium is paid into it, and the initial premium used in their projections was insufficient for annual earnings to cover the cost of insurance over an extended period of time. Now as for recruitment... One of my mom's "friends" associated with this organization reached out to her to arrange a meet-up with me as they were going to be in town. I suggested meeting up for dinner and was surprised at a third person being present (her manager/upline). Apparently they were in town for some sales conference and that dinner was a poorly-disguised attempt to recruit me onto their team. It was one of the more uncomfortable experiences I've had in the last several years and it had a weird good cop/bad cop vibe. I listened to what one of the "recruiter's" had to say. In order to make money you have to recruit others? If you are so successful at what you do than you shouldn't need to recruit anyone. I wouldn't waste my time or energy in what very much seems like a pyramid scheme. You can be successful without having to recruit 3-5 people per month in other areas of insurance. Furthermore for those researching this company, believe in yourself and believe there are reputable employer's out there that don't charge you to work for them. Glad to see my red flags were verified by reviews online. Pedro Vidana bugged me for days to schedule an interview and I finally agreed and he was 30 minutes late to call so I just ignored him. They clearly only care about their personal gain/commission pyramid. I took time away from my current job to meet with him and he didn't respect my time. Glad these guys are called out. read more

Just had an interview with this place called Excelsius Financial, but WFG came up whenever I looked it up. I was initially told by someone on the phone that their boss had found my resume and that they wanted some help with their marketing. I work in marketing, so I thought it would be right up my alley. I saw the bad reviews for WFG whenever I looked up the company, but assumed it was something else associated with EF, not EF itself. Well, EF is WFG's baby. Based on the descriptions I've seen online of the interview process: the company was being sold to me, I was asked to pay $100 for a background check (I've NEVER had to pay for a background check before), and I was told I'd be helping people with their financial literacy. The infographics he was using even had "WFG" emblazoned on the top of them. The dude who interviewed me, Otis (won't say his full name because I'm pretty sure it's illegal, but you'll find him online pretty quickly) kept saying that he wanted to groom someone to grow in his company and that some people have been "brain-stained" and need to be brain-washed Trust the reviews, and run from anything that is attached to this MLM/PYRAMID SCHEME!! read more

PUSHY AND UNETHICAL -5 Stars if I could Robina is very sweet and caring but that's kinda how they manipulate you... they make you think your going to get education on YOUR finances but the truth is their just trying to onboard you to their company. They seem to have good info but they're end goal is to make you apart of their team NOT help you with your finances! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO OF YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY! Such a shame I trusted these people... if they had any integrity they would have refunded me my $100 but that only happens from businesses with good morals...Enjoy my money I guess ... It was so uncomfortable listening to the main guy just brag about himself and act all high and mighty ... huge RED Flags went off during the second meeting especially when the main guy said "stupid people leave fake reviews, your smart enough to not believe those right!?" Weird experience. I was in the market for a content production / data analyst position when I received a call about an interview. I don't remember how the call went, but I decided to accept the interview process. I walked into a very sharp office, but was thrown off almost immediately. The office was next to empty. I recognized a few portraits of colleagues on the wall and was excited to see them in the office, but strangely hardly anyone was around. A woman greeted me and told me to wait. About 30 minutes after the time I was scheduled for my interview, a second woman greeted me. We sat down and went over a LOT of information, about the background of the company, what they sold, how I would get licenses to sell this stuff, etc. There was never a mention of money that I would have to pay up front. The interview was more of a company introduction than an actual interview. She only asked me what I could "bring to the table." The rest of it was methods I could make money, how much time I would have to invest (25 hours a week at maximum), and other fluff. I admitted I wasn't much of a salesperson for insurance, but the "sales" aspect was downtalked, and the "we help people" aspect was promoted. It was effusively positive which is what made me feel at odds. Before I left, the woman handed me a sheet of an hour's worth of youtube videos she wanted me to watch. Still odd. I looked up the company online and there's a lot of mixed stuff about it. I decided to call the company, but couldn't find the specific office I wanted to contact so I called others. Strangely, all the numbers I found were disconnected or rerouted to other offices. It was just too shady to continue. The colleagues that I recognized were labeled as "self-employed marketing directors." Enough reading on this stuff and you can educate yourself on what it is. wow..... they do tend to pile it on at times... so why do people think it is a pyramid? Let's see, so you pay them to hire you, then you bring in people to work under you, who pay to work there, and you get a part of those people's payments, but then they bring in and you get some of that.... wait! Sure, only they lack the ethics of those companies, and all you have to do is show up for one of the "Meetings" and just look around the parking lot. They tell you how much the big shots are making but you never get to make $5. This addresses their office in Brea California which they claim they had it for many years as a headquarters! Be careful people! That's all I can say! at very least you lose $100 which they charge right away and they call it administration fee! I have not seen any other company does that! First of all, I would give this organization zero star! I'll summarize my experience with them for you. I was told by my girlfriend that a friend of her is going to an event at her job and needs friends to be there to support. I asked my girlfriend what her friend's job is and what the event was about and my girlfriend told me her friend didn't say and she just wanted us to show up to support. I didn't think much of it and so we went. She took us inside the Wells Fargo building and upstair into World Financial Group office. There were a group of about 20 people, most of them dressed up in suits and ties, very professional. They all appeared to be very enthusiastic and talked to us asking us what we do and told us to keep an open mind. None of the people there actually told us what the event was about and before long, they user my girlfriend and I, along with the rest of the "guests" to come into a room and gave us a video presentation about their company and why we should save for retirement, etc etc. But most of the talk was telling a story about them, how they joined WFG and are now making over $300,000 a year without going into any details about what they actually do. It lasted like about an hour and most of it was just the speakers talking about themselves and how they become so successful here making lots of money, living the dream of a life. Afterwards, they handed us some cards to write information like names, phone number, address, and check if we would be interested in buying their products or to start a business opportunity with them. I was then talked to by one of their agents to set up a follow up appointment. I initially declined it but they said it's just to ask me some questions. I said that could be done over the phone later but they refused saying I would have to come in to the office. It's to help my friend out. Long story short, I showed up the next day and the girl who sat down with me just talked about how this is a great opportunity for me to make a lot of money and how her life has changed in one year and that she's making over $100K a year in just one year with WFG. Then, she proceeded to ask me for my name, email, and $100 to sign me up saying it's a membership fee. I foolishly believed what she said and had her signed me up for membership. I left and later thought about it. It sounded too good to be troo. Then, I realizes what these people are doing. They have tricked me into signing up using their manipulative power of persuation. I called the girl the next day and asked her to cancel my membership. Her reply to me was that they have no way to do it after the application was approved. Really? This is supposed to be coming from a reputable company? Really fishy tactics they used to get me to sign up. They used my friend to get us there just to support her but then once I was there they did every trick to hook me into signing up and giving them money in order to be their associate. Straight up bait-and switch! The Fast Start Packet that they gave me has a page to list the top 25 people that are closest to me, I.E. friends and families that they will make me try to contact them to bring them to the meeting so that they can use their power of manipulative persuation to either make them join or buy their products. I did my research and there are a lot of negative reviews that align with how I feel about this company. A lot of the things they say are just lies. They use the power of persuation to make people fall and sign up giving them sign up fees or to buy their products and services they offer. They use you as their recruitment tool. The way they lured you in and feed you sweet talks about living the big, rich life, living the life you dream of and all that. All of this was designed to get you hooked into giving them $100 which is non-refundable! I have done a lot of research since then and this company's way of recruiting people is very questionable. I feel it's unethical. They will constantly feed you with positive talk about it's now the time to follow your dreams and how you will achieve it with them. Blah blah blah They're basically a MLM (multi level marketing) company that uses shady tactics to trick people into signing in or buying their products! A lot of what they do have the characteristics of a pyramid scheme. The only difference that I see that doesn't yet make them a subject of lawsuits and governement actions like a pyramid scheme is that they don't make money for recruiting people or they try to sell their own products to new recruits. They recruit people in order to brainwash them and selling them the dreams and try to go after their family and friends (their warm market) and then the friends of their families and friends to sell them their products, which is what makes them money. This is a business opportunity and not a job. This is my third business, in which cost me way over $100 dollars, more like $250,000 dollars. I have received excellent training, my own personal website, a mentor, an office, and many different offices I can go to for help, etc., in the US and Canada. I would have paid more if I it was necessary to join. I get exactly what I put in and no one else is to blame or responsible for my growth. There are many who will help you, if you just ask. No, I am not in Orange, CA but Yes, I am with WFG and I had to say something. I am sorry it didn't work out for you all. After I was treated like trash, in the regular corporate world, this company gave me back by hope and self esteem.
