I always though Hobbycraft at the Fort was the go-to place for all my crafting needs. But, living in Paisley, that can be a little difficult to get to (though I'll probably just order online if I need anything now...). I did a basic google search for craft shops in Glasgow, and this was the only one that suited my needs, so off I went to Craft World! From Hillington West train station, it's a bit of a walk, but I was so excited to be going there, I didn't really care. So anyway, I get there and it's an Aladdin's Cave of wonderful crafting goodies. Christ I could spend all day and a whole lot of money in here. It has everything you could ever hope to need. Rows and rows of scrapbooking paper, embellishments, punches, cards, die cuts, things to stick stuff together, paper...I could go on. The staff are really nice and friendly too. They also have a loyalty scheme where every £5 you spend, you get a sticker and when you fill the card, you get £25 to spend in store! Believe me, it's easy to rack up lots of stickers in one visit...

My boyfriend, his sister and her husband and my parents were on our way to Oban for a day out when we stopped here. My boyfriend sister and I bond over stuff like this and all things Scottish, so it was great to stop at a shop that she loves! The owner was super friendly and knows my boyfriends sister as she's shopped here on a few occasions and was very chatty to us. There are loads of amazing things on offer in this wee shop. Loads of hand crafted pottery from cups and bowls to candle stick holders and tea pots. All with different stains and glazes, each thing a little different from the next. High quality pottery and gifts can be purchased here. My boyfriend and I are fans of wooden products, and we spotted some olive wood products for sale. We use bamboo whenever possible, but we fell in love with some wooden spoons and kitchen items in this shop, so we purchased a few to add to our collection. My mom bought my boyfriend sister a bracelet and bought herself some lavender to take back to the states. My boyfriends sister bought a card and some "singing mice" as she calls them- wooden mice who look like they're singing. So adorable. I really quite enjoyed stopping in this shop and plan to make it a point to check it out whenever in the area again. Local goods are great!

They have over 200 types of ribbons, and beautiful buttons, and lots of craft tools. But the felt! Oh the felt! They have a great range of felt - both loose felt for needle felting and felt sheets, in lovely colours. I bought a lovely gift card too - they have a good range of beautiful designs. This is easily the best stocked craft shop I've been in - it's so much better than anywhere in Glasgow. I would actually come here from Glasgow in order to buy craft goods. It's that good.

When my mum comes to Glasgow there is always one place we have to visit without question every time…read more- Millers. As a craft obsessive she is like a child walking into a toyshop. This place has everything you could ever want in terms of craft, art and technical materials and I even find myself feeling all creative as I wander through its two floors. The thing that my mum raves about is the 'fill a box' which allows you to fill a rectangular box full of all different types and colours of card and paper to suit your needs. As long as the box closes then you get it all for £7.25 (or £5-odd for a smaller box). The concept is unique and it is the only place in the vicinity that I know of that does this. They also do a 'bonus card' - you get 10 points for every £1 you spend which you can later redeem against some of your favourite goodies. 1 point equals 1p so you are essentially getting 10% off every time you spend. My only qualm? The prices. A lot of their products could be found online on crafty websites for about half the price.

There are alot of things in here, including a great range of inks and paints as well as paper and pencils. I recently topped up on good high quality paper (with high quality prices!). The selection is excellent across the board with alot of stuff that I don't even know the name of so I won't even embarass myself by trying to find appropriate labels for them. 'Crafty stuff'. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place is always busy which is a good sign, particularly given there is another rival store just up the road that is also excellent. Well worth a look.

While on a tour of Glencoe, our tour guide took us to Crafts & Things for lunch. What an adorable…read moreplace! Its a craft store, a gift shop, and a wonderful cafe. They have a really good selection of art and prints. I found a Bee & Thistle print I had to have, and they even put it in a mailing tube so that I can send it home and not have to carry it around with me. Their gift shop has a great selection of jewelry, souvenirs, and gifts for loved ones back home. Many things you cannot find in the bigger cities here, as they are local made. The cafe in the back has wonderful homemade food. We had soup and toasties (grilled cheese sealed in a pie iron), and the quiche of the day, which were all really good. The desserts will tempt you to take them home with you. Its definitely a nice place to stop while touring the Glencoe valley.

I didn't know where to turn, so I rushed along to Marjorys Wool Shop to get a green thread repair kit. The shop assistant, I'm not sure if this was Marjory or not, was very helpful and showed me an array of green shades. I picked the perfect shade to match Pillie, made my purchase which was much cheaper than I'd expected and rushed back to begin the operation. Thankfully, the shop assistant had reminded me to buy needles too so I was ready to get stitching. The operation was a success, it took the patient a while to recover, but he's now in tip top shape, good as new! A great shop, and very popular too as there were a few other customers when I was there in my hour of need. Prices very reasonable and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It has obviously been here for a while and not much has changed in this period. The rows of dated patterns posters remain proudly stuck up in the window along side some really sweet floral wreath (type things). Inside, you'll find a good selection of wool in an array of colours, thicknesses, qualities and price ranges. Meanwhile, the staff always seem friendly and helpful. Ideal for any knitting relating questions. My only reservation is that in the past few weeks I've not seen it open while passing on the bus. While, I'm more than happy to admit that this in itself is not unusual due to my 'out of office hours' schedule; I'm also slightly concerned that it may have closed down. Fear not, trusty yelpers. I shall investigate my suspicion further and update the review accordingly. Till then, if you happen to notice it's door wide, open and smiling then dive in for a look. It's well worth it and you'll appear ultra chic.

However the store mostly sells gifts and cards and a small collection of interesting jewelery. My favorite items in this store are the gifts for children. There are lovely little secret diaries and jewelry boxes for girls and wooden pull along toys for younger kids. Threads is a great shop to pick up an unusual gift for kids and adults alike but as with most stores of its kind some items can be a bit expensive.

This is the place to come if you are looking for an unusual, quirky gift. This shop really comes into it's own at Christmas time with all it's fabulous festive ware laid out. At the back of the shop there is a craft section which includes knitting materials, sewing etc. They also sell fabulous jewellery and gift cards too. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The only minus is the size of the shop. It's quite small but is jam packed full of stuff and if it gets too busy (and it is very popular) you'll find yourself backing into the displays!

The prices are fairly average for these types of goods, and the staff that work there are nice and pleasant, and always helpful to try and find something that will suit you.
