It was built by a former artist for Disney Studios and the builder, Lawrence Joseph worked on all of it for decades. There are adorable cottages and a view from the street is super. I think some of it may be occupied, I am not sure, so I did not venture far, just the front and back yard and stopped when I saw what looked like an apartment building. It is an LA Historical Landmark and just so cute. It is near Sony pictures. It almost looks like you are walking into a movie set. There is a great garden and a pond and it really does look like a Hobbit house. We were not there long, maybe 15 minutes and did not need to be. So, if you have 15 minutes and want to see a super cool house go take a peek.

Molhulland Drive, California…read more If you're looking for a chill, romantic drive, Mulholland Drive is a great pick!!! The views are beautiful, especially in the spring and fall when everything is green and wildflowers are blooming. The road winds through the hills, so you get nonstop scenic views. Driving with the top down and the wind in your hair makes it even better ~ super relaxing and enjoyable. It's the kind of drive where you just take it slow and enjoy the ride. There are several lookout spots where you can pull over, catch an amazing sunset, and later see Hollywood and San Fernando Valley city lights at night. Plus, there are plenty of spots perfect for Instagram ~ worthy photos. Definitely worth the drive.

I first drove up there way back in the early 90s, and I remember being totally blown away by how big Los Angeles looked from up high. I have been back plenty of times since then, and that twisty drive along the top of the hills honestly never gets old. It is a great place to just cruise around, especially when you pull over at the dirt patches to look down at the city lights. Even though the world down below has changed a lot, driving that road still feels exactly the same as it did on my first trip.

It's gross and glamorous, iconic and boring. The Beverly Hills you've seen in the movies, a not inaccurate reflection of the little city's little soul. I grew up in L.A. and have been to Rodeo several times over the years. It's a nice place to walk around, always busy during the day, and--gotta hand it to Beverly Hills--perennially clean and attractive. All the powerhouse luxury brands have big stores on the street, with cool architecture and eye-catching window displays. There's also a high concentration of fancy restaurants on Rodeo and the surrounding streets. The sightseeing is great, even if you're a native. The window shopping is the same as anywhere else in the world where the same brands rent storefronts, and Rodeo is less impressive than comparable streets in, say, Paris or Singapore. But here, you can watch hordes of tourists with shopping bags and Erewhon smoothies, plus Beverly Hills specimens with surgically inflated butts and lips. If you're into cars, there are always douchey expensive cars parked on the street, by rich maniacs who want strangers to take pictures of them, maybe imagine how wealthy the owners must be, how large and shapely their penises. Parking is surprisingly reasonable if you go to the right lots (avoid the ones on the main strip; the ones above it at Rodeo and Santa Monica are non-predatory). And next year--at long last, despite years of obstruction from Beverly Hills--there will be a Metro station at Wilshire and Beverly, allowing fast, easy access to Rodeo from anywhere along the D. It's worth a visit, even if you're not shopping. Do some people watching, see where Cher discovered she loved Josh.

It is a MUST! A lot of people tend to think that buying an expensive handbag is about money. And yes you do have to have money to buy these pieces, however the reason why you're spending so much money is because of the process that is required to go through to get such an amazing handbag one that will last you 20+ years so it's awesome! Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorite areas of the city. How can you properly encapsulate 22 miles…read moreof some of the most wild and historic times in LA!? Most of the action starts around the previously super hot Hyde and Laugh Factory right around Crescent Heights. The celeb, wildly trendy spots are mostly on WeHo's Sunset Strip (about 1.6 miles of the boulevard) where so much of LA history, glamour and the entertainment world all come together. The Sunset Tower Hotel & Bar, The Britely and Chateau Marmont are places to be seen for celebrities all near each other with the kitschy Carnie's and Saddle Ranch between them. The Comedy Store and tons of other clubs & rooftops are found right along that strip, as well. Keep going west down Sunset for the iconic Viper Room, Whiskey A Go Go, the Roxy and Rainbow Bar...Rock N Roll rocks forever on the Strip. And if you're fancy, at the end of the Strip before Beverly Hills is Boa, SoHo House and Bird Street Club (members only). Food options start off with another celeb hot spot, tasty Sushi Park on the second floor of a cute plaza at insane prices with Handles' delicious coffee and cheap Joe's pizza on the first floor. Everywhere on Sunset is like this...food that fits every budget and all styles, this street is amazing. The same goes for shopping with the globally largest Supreme store always staying busy, Skims flagship being fun to pop into and right next to Mel's Diner, or down the block from Saltie Girl or The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker for that beautiful rainbow latte. Kith is popular with hot, new adjacent food places there, as well. And did I mention they always have the COOLEST billboards? Netflix changes their every week and it's so fun to see what they put up to promote. That man who lived in the billboard a few weeks ago was right outside the Chateau! Just so many TV and Movie and Cosmetic and Influencer and Album and every kind of billboard in the most fun advertising you'll see in the country. Along with that advertising, cool artwork along the boulevard happens everywhere including my favorite mural located at 7658 Sunset. It features Aaliyah, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Selena and Left-Eye. rip to these icons! Sunset is just the best and when I'm cruising around the city, it's always part of the loop. Cruising the Strip is a real thing~!

Over the years, my main interest in Sunset Boulevard has been connected to a general interest in…read moreLos Angeles as a metropolis or Billy Wllder's film noir classic "Sunset Boulevard" (1950). Wilder was very West Coast-oriented when it came to noirish cinema, with "Ace In The Hole" (1951) being more satirical and my favorite noir movie, "Double Indemnity" (1944) being more of an enduring, classic black and white Los Angeles-centered noir film. More broadly, I am always interested in Los Angeles primarily because I have so many relatives who live out there and culturally speaking, it is a place which has long interested me, whether due to books: think John Fante, Joan Didion, Bukowski, Walter Mosley, Eve Babitz, and "City of Quartz" author Mike Davis or music: Arthur Lee and Love, Black Randy and the Metrosquad, David Axelrod, War and for '80s-'90s hip hip aficionados, The Pharcyde and NWA. I also think it is cool to look up old cultural spots (before my time) once located on Sunset Boulevard like Citadel d'Haiti, which once hosted Fela Kuti. Artist Ed Ruscha viewed Sunset Boulevard as perhaps the most quintessential thoroughfare in Los Angeles. Quoted in the Unframed blog, Ruscha stated, "I looked at Sunset Boulevard like a 22-mile-long canvas, with an evolving history...It had fluid motion, fluid stories, one long horizontal ribbon, and I always thought about it. It just asked to be documented." So, all of these ideas I have of Sunset Boulevard and Los Angeles, which are kind of all over the place, bring me to my latest fascination: the billboard for the Netflix movie "The Last House" (2026), which was situated near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Selma Ave back during August 6-8, 2026. I have fond memories of watching Tim Pingel's livestreams near the billboard. Sometimes he would use a drone to catch a closer view. The guy pictured walking around inside the billboard, Nathan Shoop, was the subject of an interview in which he came off as funny and sarcastic. Regarding the movie, the general consensus amongst the chat crowd was that the movie isn't good, but the billboard was obviously a big hit. Haha!

Everyone was so invested, from the patrons, chefs, servers, and even line cooks! Went to a stall selling the 'best corned beef sandwich' from Magee's kitchen. The servers and cook were super nice and the corned beef on display made my mouth water! It was very good, and paired with their blood orange soda, wasn't too heavy! It was a big enough sandwich that I took the other half home! I also got a cornbread muffin from Gumbo pot- which was good but a little dry. There's plenty of shade, though the area is mostly outdoors- lots of trees and buildings with covers and awnings. There's a fancy French market in there and plenty of eating options (though open hours vary). Come by this historic stop, walk through the Grove, and enjoy the hustle and bustle!
