I feed and take care of fish for a living, so when I'm visiting back home on vacation, what do I…read morewant to do....well, go look at and feed more fish!! Our Fish Hatchery out in Forth Klamath is a great place to go for an afternoon, enjoy the scenery, and look at the fish! The best part is they have quarter machines with fish food in them, and you can put your quarter in and get a handful of food to feed the fish! When you drive in, they have lots of parking right in front of some of their raceways, and just to the right of the parking area is one of their quarter fish-food machines. Just beyond the food machine is a nice deck out on Crooked Creek with a deep hole where large trout hang out and you can feed them. When we were there, most of the fish in the creek were Rainbows, and most all were well over 12"...and of course its posted, NO FISHING! These guys were fun to feed, and came right up to the surface for the food. A great place for pictures too, this area is really scenic with the creek running through. Walking back to the hatchery area, they have their "show pond" if you walk farther on up. Another fish feeding machine is here, and this creek area is stocked full of fish about 12" long, again from what I could see they looked like all Rainbows. There were SO MANY FISH here!! Really cool to see, and these guys really went after the food! You could walk all up and down this area and there were fish everywhere, very cool! Coming to the end of the "show pond" area, there were a few other waterways, and in the back there were covered raceways with fingerlings in them, just little guys! It was neat to see all the fish, and walk around the grounds as well. Back in the front by the parking area there is a little information kiosk as well that tells you about the hatchery and the lakes they stock with fish. This is a great place to spend an afternoon, and I highly recommend it. Its really fun to come out here, watch and feed the fish, and learn a little bit about hatcheries as well....educational, informative, and FUN!! A+!!!

Had a wonderful time with the family in this gorgeous side of Klamath Falls, Oregon! We wanted to…read moredo both kayaking and zip lining but free from tours and practically do our own kayaking. We decided to purchase them separately - 3-hour tandem kayaking (2 people in 1 kayak) for one day and zip lining for the following day. Unlike some people, we're not super fit individuals so, for us, it was a great idea to separate the 2 activities and get some rest and recuperation in between. The 3-hour kayaking was fantastic with gorgeous views all around. Contrary to what other bad reviews experienced... maybe things have been changed since then? Anyways, from my experience the process was rather simple and painless. The meeting point was clear in the email and a text message with a link to fill out waivers for each party member was very, very simple to complete and submit. Email confirmations were received just in case I needed to show proof of waiver completions. The staff drove the 2 tandem kayaks (family of 4) to the drop off point not far from their base. We requested for life vests but after seeing how deep the water is in the lake, it definitely wasn't needed at all. It's practically shallow throughout the lake EXCEPT for the drop off point. We know how to swim too so really, the life vests aren't necessary if you know how to swim (or stand/float in 2-3 feet depths). We made a right from the drop off point and found an opening for pathway between the bushes - LOOONG kayaking path we came across but definitely worth the view, peace, tranquility, and workout! We eventually found our way out but if you plan to have the kayaks for 3 hours max, you may not want to take the inner pathways and just enjoy the open lake otherwise try to keep a good pace throughout the inner path. Very fun experience. The next day we decided to do the zip lining (Crater Lake Ziplining) and with Ethan and Shiloh as our guides/instructors, we had tons of fun! The zip lining adventure involves learning the basics for safety purposes (which they go through with you thoroughly and even have you try it out before live action), no pressure in case you want to back out, no tolerance for anything unsafe (like unhooking your line - just don't do it!), a few great and long lines to zip through, a couple of drops to make you feel like an assassin super star in an action movie, and wonderful group people to enjoy this activity with! Makes sure you purchase the photo package towards the end to capture all of your fun moments. I do admit the prices are a bit high compared to some places I've been to, but then again the scenery wasn't quite as beautiful as the surroundings in Klamath Falls. So all in all, I'd say worth the price tag that comes with it. Highly recommended - a MUST if you plan to stop by or pass through Klamath Falls. Be sure to use Bug Spray before you go!

I have a group of friends who do hiking trips together every few years, and this year we picked…read moreMorrisons Rogue River hike with support from guides on rafts. Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.
