LaValley's told me that Artisan was the sub-contractor they used, and LaValley's would contact Artisan on my behalf. This was in the early afternoon. I expected maybe I'd get a call within a week or so about it. By mid-afternoon the same day, I got a call from Clay at Artisan. I was amazed I got such a prompt response. Then he amazed me further by asking if he could stop by in half an hour or so. So he showed up in about half an hour. I expected it to be a sales call and that they would schedule whatever service and parts my doors needed. Nope; Clay fixed the doors on the spot. Another half an hour or so later, my garage doors, one in particular, were working better than they have in many years. Clay was also very personable, friendly, and helpful. We did not use the table over the winter as it is a summer cottage. It became clear in May 2021 there were some serious craftsman issues with the table when we began to use the table in May 2021. We went to the shop in Westmoreland with pictures and explained the issues. We initially, "it is living wood". The owner came by to see the table. 3 of the four ends are 1/4 inch too short and do not line up with the table. It looks bad. And the makers used wood putty to fill holes made of wood and glue, a big piece was coming up and is quite sharp. The visited in early June 2021 about potentially fixing the pieces coming up issue. No one has ever gotten back to us in about 6 weeks. I called them. And the "living wood" with the 1/4 inch mismatched ends has not "grown back" to match the main table (see image). It is a pretty poorly made piece of furniture from an appearance perspective. Update: this table is likely going to be repaired now.

I recently purchased an 1860's house in Vermont, which I had inspected prior to buying. The home…read moreinspector, who had been recommended by my real estate agent, did not find any major issues. Nor were there any problems disclosed in the Seller's Property Information Report. After moving in, however, I discovered that the slate roof is leaking in several places, the tar/gravel roofs are beyond their lifetime, and the chimney is at risk of toppling over. I decided to have a second home inspection done to see what else the inspector "missed" - he says on his website that he is a structural engineer, is qualified in plumbing and electrical and has his Vermont Property Inspector License, as well as other accreditations. The second home inspector, Patrick Richardson, spent more than 3 hours going through the entire house, interior and exterior, with me. He found major issues with the foundation, rotting support beams in the basement, confirmed that the chimney needs replacing, the state roof is failing. He also found serious problems with the plumbing, knob and tube wiring in the attic and basement, a bulkhead well that is collapsing, to list just a few of his findings. It is beyond me how the first inspector could have missed all this... Patrick's report was well written and detailed, with clear photos of the problem areas of the house. He spelled out what needed immediate attention, as well as recommendations for future maintenance and repairs. It was not the generic and superficial report that I got from the first inspector. I cannot speak highly enough about Patrick. He does a very detailed job and is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He spends the time to answer all your questions, and it shows that he cares about doing the best job possible. Had I hired Patrick for the initial home inspection, I never would have purchased the house. If you are thinking of buying a house, you will want an honest and thorough inspection by Richardson Home Inspection. You will not have any surprises if you do move forward with the purchase.

Nathan has done many project for us. Our first project was a remodel of a plain deck. He…read moreexpanded the deck by adding a one step down level 20' x 20' with a nice curve detail at the end. Because the deck was below the min height we did not need railings. He listen well to our design features and was able to make them work. The second deck was around a semi-inground wooden pool ( Technobois) with tight edges up to the wood pool tops at differnt angles. The skills was detailed and complicated. Five years later it still looks great. Nathan has done a kitchen remodel in stages for us. Bathroom /shower remodels. Our accessory apartment needed walls taken out and rebuilt. He has remodeled many areas of our home. He has Installed wood floors, cabinet work, trim work is meticulous! The list goes on. He takes his time to think things out. My only concern is the lack of a quote detailing the scope of the work being done before the project. I think he needs to improve in that area. Then he can stay within the homeowners budget for the agree upon work. We had surprises doing things hourly. But his work exceeded our expectations, for that reason we always continue to call on him for work to be done. We know we can trust him to do a good job, even when we are not at home to see it get done. Always done Right!
