Woodbridge Cafe is a neighbourhood breakfast and lunch diner that seems to be well-established in the community. I had breakfast on a few weekdays and the weekend, first ordering the breakfast specials (bacon, sausage, eggs), and gradually selecting smaller combinations to reduce the quantity of food to start the day!
Every breakfast was cooked to order freshly, and was served piping hot within a few minutes. Having chips for breakfast somehow seems wrong, so I ordered and enjoyed the sauteed potatoes (and skipped toast, as loading on too many starches).
The layout has a series of long tables with chairs, and a few seats at the window to look out onto the street. The clientele included a lot of workmen. Some ordered breakfast to be eaten right away, and then a sandwich as takeout, presumably for lunch.
The posters of winners and losers for competitive eating -- the Mega Breakfast, and Burger Challenge -- were entertaining. They also reflect the good humour of the staff, continuously circling amongst the mostly quiet customers.
I was staying at the Acacia Villas across the street, and stopped by on a few mornings on the way to the university. This place starts early in the day, and was closed by the late afternoons on my return. read more
