When I went the first thing I noticed was how inviting the place was with the fun choice of music and how warm they kept it inside. I also really enjoy the layout of the bar. There are lots of little rooms, each with 3 to 5 tables which makes it perfect for a more private evening out, or you can also enjoy yourself at their classy bar. Naturally there is also space if you want to go out with a group of friends or have a happy hour with your work buddies. They even have karaoke, fun! There pisco sour was just yummy and they have some great things to nibble on as well. They cheese platter is beautifully arranged with salami and several artisanal cheeses. I tried their manchas a la parmesana (clams baked with parmesan cheese) which were not the best I've had, but good. Their empanadas we just fine as well the only strange thing is that they were served on a plate and covered in plastic rap (maybe a mishap). All in all a nice chill bar to spend an evening.

That being said it is nothing romantic of the sort. It is however a nice little pub to get together with your friends and enjoy lots of cheap beers in a sweet environment. From the outside the Nona seems really small but the outside patio has lots of seating space and the top floor. They always have a wide selection of music and jukebox, if you want a quieter evening I would recommend sitting outside. They have pitchers of terremotos (ice cream, wine, and fernet), piscolas and beer to drink. To eat they have french fries, churriana, and empanadas AKA perfect bar food. This is an ideal spot to see any Chilean futbol match as the crowd will be unforgettable. Chi Chi Chi Le Le Le viva Chile!

I started coming here when studying abroad and it has always been my go-to pub ever since. It is nothing fancy, but the laid back ambiance, 80's rocker-esque clientele and the great service keeps me coming back for more. Bar La Nona is juxtaposed between Pio Nono's grunge and Patio Bella Vista's exclusivity, making it a very entertaining people watching spot - especially during the summer time. They offer seating both outside as well as inside. What the inside seating lacks in outside entertainment Pio Nono is known to offer (such as random musicians, parades and artisans) it makes up for in an awesome Juke box which is almost always playing 80's and 90's rock. It's a must go for a national beer and chorillana.

We found Barracuda and decided it was a great option because 1) it has a rooftop bar, and 2) there's no cover (unlike a certain jazz club down the street). We arrived late in the evening, so the first two floors were quiet. We made our way up to the third floor and a handful of staff greeted us and let us sit wherever we wanted. We chose a table nearest the street corner where we could look out and enjoy the view. Given the smog in Santiago, we couldn't see much beyond the neighborhood, but it was a fun time nonetheless. The ambiance downstairs definitely feels like a college-town dive bar with its random decor. But the rooftop makes you feel you're in a different restaurant altogether, even if the menu is the same. The staff brought us a drink menu and we decided to order a bottle of Carmenere for the table, which was reasonably priced at around $13.500clp. We were surprised to see that they also carry a very expensive bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon priced around $69.000clp. We put in our order, but about five minutes later, another server came over to let us know that they were out of the bottle we chose. We said it was no problem and that we would have whatever was similar on the menu. When the bottle arrived, it was evenly distributed among our three large wine glasses, which still had the remnants of a price tag on the bottom of the glass. Upon our first sips, we realized this was a very "jammy" wine and nothing like a Carmenere. We took a closer look at the bottle and realized it was not a Carmenere at all as we'd requested but was instead a Cab Sauv. We all had a tinge of trepidation as we sipped our wine, wondering whether they had brought us the super-expensive bottle. When the bill arrived at the end of the evening, we all breathed a collective sigh of relief seeing that the bottle was only $15.000clp. Whew! Would I come back here? Sure! But with so many options and great nightlife in this neighborhood, it might be a while before I return and finally try their Carmenere.

From the way tables are arranged to how the menu is structures, sharing and communion are clearly the core concepts defining the spirit of this place. Regarding their food, I tend to agree with what others comment about this place. There is way too much focus on fried food-I would not consider their menu attractive for someone looking for healthy options around this trendy area of Santiago. I had the fish tacos and they were really really good. However, I do not hold the same opinion about the boletus croquetas. The croquetas were bland and lacked and boring (truly nothing exciting about them)... I would definitely recommend the tacos, but croquetas are a waste of money and time. Cocktails in general, and gin in particular, are supposed to be their distinctive feature with the rest of pubs/bars in the area. I was not impressed with the variety of Gin they hold. My personal impression is that they are not running any kind of risk when it comes to selecting some labels over others and that they are not open to consider some really good ones (for example: G-vine). Because it was hard for me see their expertise in a menu where Gin Mare is expected to shine, I decided to try some cocktails. I ordered a negroni and it was OK, nothing memorable about it. I also tried the Gin Yang, which I had to the send back because I prefered to avoid an instant visit to the doctor. The level of sweetness was simply overwhelming... In general this place is ok, but I would probably think twice before coming back. I really enjoyed the sharing-based value proposition but I do feel that they are not capable to meet the expectations proposed in their menu.
