They were quick behind the counter, though. They had a lot of options with fish cake, pies, and all the different sides and sauces, but I got a standard fish & chips. The fish was huge, flakey, delicious. It came as a set meal with the chips an even with mushy peas so you don't have to order separately. I also got my favorite chips with curry sauce, which was nice and the sauce came on the side and kept really hot and nice over my trip home. Overall, quite pleased. If you're in the West Bridgford area and looking for some good takeaway fish & chips, head over to George's. We had some french people stay with us once, and they really wanted to try proper fish and chips, so we brought them here. Not being a fan of haddock I was impressed with how fresh and perfectly cooked it was. The monkfish, my first time trying it fried, was delicious and perfectly fried in the traditional way in beef fat. The chips were also perfect and held up well to vinegar without going soppy! Sam, our waitress, took great care of us and the local pale ale was a fantastic accompaniment to the meal.
