We drove a long distance to have Wolfsburg Tech work on our Vanagon. They had great reviews and apparently were Vanagon experts. Paula and Rick were great and seem like fine people. Maybe it was COVID and the owner getting sick, or maybe it was them hiring new mechanics possibly unfamiliar with Vanagons. Either way, we were without our Vanagon for 6-7months and had to tow the Vanagon back to them at our expense with multiple unresolved issues Including it dying several times. The Vanagon was a daily driver for years for us and was very reliable. The repairs we were having done were creature comfort items and preventative maintenance. I did find a radiator fan lead wire disconnected just yesterday after picking the van up for the second time when I got home and noticed the fan not cycling on. Based on our experience we will not be returning to Wolfsburg. read more

When it comes to VWs these guys know their stuff. They will pick up your car from your driveway and return it to the same spot when the work has been completed. VWs are pricey to repair no matter where you go but Wolfsburg Tech beats the dealership prices by a longshot. They are very friendly and never do work without discussing it with you first. I would highly recommend them for all of your VW or Audi repairs. read more

I had an alignment issue with my 2003 Jetta, that no local shop could or had the knowledge to correct. Wolfsburg Tech looked over the issue and corrected it. I finally found a repair shop that I can trust. If you have a VW or Audi, I would highly recommend Wolfsburg Tech. read more

Very serious, helpful, knowledgable on Volkswagens, willing to answer questions, and Professional. Gave me mechanical advise; let me know what needed attention now and what I need to keep an eye on while I drive. Will take my 1970 Volkswagen beetle back for future services or repairs. read more

Specialties

We service and repair only Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. We keep a full stock of OEM parts for VWs and Audis on hand. We offer all repairs and maintenance, including tires and alignment. We offer free pick-up or towing on jobs over $300 from the following counties: Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Baldwin, Putnam, Jones, Houston, Peach, Monroe & Crawford. The only services we don't currently offer are transmission overhaul and paint & body, but there are businesses in GA that we can recommend for those services.

History

Established in 1998.

when Rick and Paula moved to Macon. Rick has 30 years of experience as a mechanic and has been working exclusively on VW/Audi for 24 years. After several years serving customers in the home workshop, Rick and Paula moved to a commercial shop in East Macon. Finding a descriptive name that wasn't trademarked proved difficult, so the shop has had several names over the last 18 years. Specialty Automotive, VW Central, VDub Central, and Wolfsburg Tech. After two years at the East Macon location, they moved to a much larger location in West Macon. After five years in West Macon, the recession and increasing vandalism convinced them to downsize and move their business back to the home workshop in Jones County. They serve fewer customers now due to limited workspace. They are in the process of building a substantial 2500 sq.ft. workshop to handle the increasing number of potential VW/Audi customers in middle Georgia

Meet the Business Owner: Rick S.

Rick has been a VW nut since a toddler and has worked exclusively on VW & Audi since 1990. He joined the Army at 17 years old and served 3 years as a tank mechanic. He served in the 3rd Armored division in Hanau, Germany. After leaving the Army, Rick apprenticed his father, Norman, for seven years at their VW/Audi repair shop in Hilton Head, SC. Norman was a master tech for VW/Audi/Porsche dealerships for 25 years and currently runs his own shop, Teutonix, in Tillman, SC.
