He did various work in our property including replacing our living room ceiling and installing new cornice - the old ceiling was taken down in February, and the work has only just been finished in October. This has meant that we haven't been able to use it for in excess of half a year. He consistently told us he would be there to finish the job, and it would be done 'this week', then never turned up. I think his record for not showing up was 4 times in one week... I advised that I would be claiming money back through VISA as the work was not finished after 7 months and we were constantly being let down, at this point Mark called aggressively shouting and swearing advising that he wanted the cornice back he had installed, then hung up (despite the fact that we had paid for it). Someone else who worked with Mark then got in touch saying they would come round to finish the work which happened after about another 2 weeks. I spent a full day cleaning up the mess left behind, with two trips to the skip, and now we have started painting, we can see that the cornice is not straight (despite a new ceiling being put in), there are several cracks and imperfections in the cornice, and some of the cornice joints are very noticeable.

The younger generation of the family have now taken hold of the reigns and any vestiges of a decent upstanding business have long since departed. W Cannon & Sons of 8 Castlehill Crescent, ML3 7DG, are confidence tricksters. If you care to visit the companies website the portfolio gallery is very impressive, the only problem being, is that all the examples of W Cannon & Sons work are stock images that originate from other more creditable building contractors. You can check this for yourself using the internet image checking service TinEye. The work to our property was contracted out to Eastern European workers and was very loosely overseen by the illusive Martin Cannon, who acted as our point of contact and the workers gang master. No one seemed to have much knowledge of construction or any appetite for work. The workers relieved themselves wherever and whenever it took their fancy and most of them looked to be under the influence of something or other. All in all it was not a pleasant experience to feel so uncomfortable in and around our own home. The extension to our property built by W Cannon & Sons was constructed to such a poor standard it was beyond rectification. Due to serious safety concerns the extension had to be demolished within five years of its eventual completion. It was deemed to be both dangerously unstable and a fire hazard. W Cannon & Sons are swindlers and charlatans. I would not recommend them under any circumstances.

Job 2: convert garage to bedroom steps into the room were left bare with nails left sticking out and no hardwood flooring as agreed cable t.v. was not connected as agreed and the concrete screed was badly rippled and is visible through the carpet the door was fitted the wrong way round and the handle keeps coming off as a result Job 3: Convert bedroom dinning room to kitchen dinner foot lights and pelmet lights only partially work the foot board under dishwasher falls off regularly and 1 of the cabinet doors has fallen off because of bad fitting Job4: convert kitchen to bathroom the ceiling was unfinished no paint or cornice tiles were fitted badly and were not sealed and grouting was incomplete as a result the underfloor heating is unusable because water has got in and it trips the fuse. Some the tiles were also chipped the bath was not secured and was damaged as a result towel rail was left unsecured with parts missing and no door bar on the floor Job5: Convert bathroom to utility room the door on floor was not fitted the flooring in the hallway was lifted to run new drainage and replaced very badly leaving gaps all over it. The job ran £4000 over budget and Stephan Frier will not answer a text or a phone call he has retained all of or paperwork so our new kitchen has no warranty and we've spent £200 to replace our door locks because he kept our keys. Multiple smashed windows on fitting initially, dents on the sill, wrong sill fitted, wrong colour of sill, faded hinges, screeching hinges and scratches/roller marks repeatedly on replacement windows. Endless days off and now still supplying chipped and scratched windows with roller marks. Endless delays and multiple excuses. No compensation for all the time off. Will escalate to trading standards if not resolved this month. Team refusing to escalate to director. I would have thought they wanted to avoid a public internet display of their failing standards when he could easily be tweeted? Bizarre way to run a company. Highly suggest avoiding.

We had composite doors fitted on 21st November 2016 and have had nothing but problems. Three days…read moreafter fitting, both doors had to be readjusted as they were out of alignment and were extremely difficult to lock. One of the doors was cracked and we had to wait for another fitting date. Back door is acceptable but the front is another story. Four months later Camden group (manufacturer) visited for an inspection and confirmed door was indeed badly fitted (door frame bowed, unable to lock without extreme force, door badly marked due to hitting locking mechanisms, waterproof seals ripped). The manufacturer also removed a security lock to allow the door to lock securely! Now, after a flurry of snow we have water ingress around several of the door windows. An absolute disgrace for a door which cost £1350. This is bad enough but their customer service is appalling with complete reluctance to address these issues. Five months since installation and still no resolution so it looks like trading standards and potential court case for us. We then sought a second opinion from Scotdrain who fixed the problem on their first visit in 45 minutes for £175.00 inclusive of VAT. Would not recommend to anyone to allow this company to even provide a quotation as they will use pressure selling tactics and false promises to secure work they are not capable of doing.
