This is the primary radio station I listen to in Jacksonville. They play hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.... classic rock. Jeeeez.... It's hard to believe music I grew up listening to is now classic rock. LOL They do tend to play more songs from the 70s and 80s than the 90s. Even though I was an adult in the 90s, it's still nice to hear a song from that decade thrown in there every now and then. The 90s music they play is usually what was considered as alternative back then... bands like Creed and Collective Soul. Just like the new music on The Big Ape, they do tend to have certain songs they play all the time. Considering they are covering three decades of classic hits and not just current music, I'd think they'd mix it up a little more than they do, but I love the music, so I don't complain. I also like the fact they play really long blocks of music before they play commercials. I don't listen to music in the car all that much because if I'm alone and driving, I want to make sure I'm concentrating on the road. If I'm with the hubby and he's driving, he and I like to talk. I mostly listen at home while he's at work and I'll stream it via my MacBook. Whenever we get in our pool, I have a Beats Pill and I'll stream the channel via my iPhone and bluetooth it to the Pill. Most of the new music today is pretty awful. Thank goodness there's still a good radio station around! read more

For at least 8 years now, they've been "The NEW 96.9 The Eagle". I don't care what they call themselves, as long as they keep playing the best damn rock from the 70's and 80's I'll keep listening. Whether I'm fortunate enough to be in NE Florida, grabbing their signal at 969theeagle.com, or lately tuning in on my Palm Pre through the RadioTime app, I'm listening to this station as much as I can. Orrie, LOL funny. You forgot Steely Dan, Led Zepplin, Van Morrison, The Who and Lynyrd Skynyrd! I have the extreme pleasure of listening to WJGL - FM 96.9 in the mornings while getting ready because it is the only station that comes in loud and clear in my bathroom. Go figure! These guys are dedicated to classic rock and they do a good job. The track is repetative, but I have to say that 95.1 WAPE has a track that is even shorter. If you are part of the group that even knows who these bands are, tune in and sing along. It will take you back to your keg party days of youth! read more

I am sick of this station saying they play songs without commercials when they promote the station after nearly every song they play. It's annoying to keep hearing the Eagle and call letters every five minutes or so. They have definitely lost me as a listener.... read more

This is the last and now only classic rock station in Jacksonville Florida, and that's really sad. While I still get to hear some stuff I grew up listening to, they only seem to play songs that only the rubes still get excited about, along with some bands who really suck, like 3 Doors Down and Nickelback. And I have to say as a music fan it's really offensive to me that they only play hits and never any deep cuts. For example, Thin Lizzy. They had so much great music they put out that never gets played, yet they'll play the shit out of "The Boys Are Back In Town". Is it asking too much to hear something else every once in a while? And why doesn't anyone do anything to support local bands? What's the problem there? Hearing a Big Engine song on the radio would be nice. Every time I hear about an event happening in town that has live music there's no mention of which bands are playing. I might've been going to a few of these things if I'd known who'd be playing. And when a concert is coming to town? Let's just I've heard great things about Judas Priest's new CD, Firepower, but I can't just turn on the radio to hear anything from it. By the way it is really good. I'm glad I have my CD collection, Bandcamp, and a couple of apps so I don't need radio anyway. Listening to the radio used to be one of my favorite things to do and now it's obsolete. Thanks a lot! read more

What can I say? I listen to a variety of music, but when it comes to "Classic" rock, 96.9-The Eagle is MY channel!! Although their playlist is SOMEWHAT repetitive, you won't find a better classic rock station in our area. I'm listening in Keystone Heights, FL!! read more
