An example is just today, I ordered the Grand Prix red roses and asked for some lillies to be tied into the bouquet. They were a gift for my mum who is recently widowed and has just become poorly so I decided to treat her. I placed my order at 09:00am and the flowers arrived just an hour later! My mum is highly delighted with these flowers and I am so impressed with the superb service and the quality of the flowers is always very high and they last a long time. I am very pleased, as usual, with Alan Brown and I will be using them again! Thank you to all of the staff. Miss C Austin x

Instead of merely standing there, the woman who was working in the store was very aware of each and every customer spending even just a moment looking at the flowers decorating the entrance, asking if they need any help. That kind of awareness is a brilliant quality that makes the shop a very friendly place to be!

Bartle's Florists is very affordable - probably because its situated in the Merrion Centre outside Morrisons and the super-cheap home ware store - but still has beautiful flowers. I saw a lovely bunch of white lily's for less than £20 last time I wandered by. They do a delivery service that can get flowers to your loved ones in 3 hours (presuming they live less than 3 hours away)! Perfect for any accidently forgotten anniversary or birthday. They also sell balloons to add an extra touch to your gift.

Bartles Florist is a good place to find such little packages of flowery delights. It's an independent family business and has been since 1969. Of course they are on the Inter Flora band wagon so that makes delivery no problems whatsoever. Every occasion is well catered for and they even have a fair trade flower section. Now a mental note should be taken here from Mr future Melissa, I really really like the Sunflowers. Got it? The staff are nice and helpful and if you really struggle between your Birds of Paradise and Azaleas, they'll be more than willing to help you out. You can also match them up with choccies or Champagne and you'll even get same day delivery if you get your orders in before 2pm. So go on dig deep and enjoy.

This is a delightful card shop on the North Concourse of Leeds train station. Particularly handy…read moreif, like me, you have a tendancy to go and visit friends and family for birthdays and such, then only just remember as you get to the station that you'd forgotten to pick up a card for them. D'oh! Thankfully there is now plenty of choice in Leeds station if you're in this position! There's Funky Pigeon, Paperchase and WH Smiths all selling greetings cards, but this shop will definitely be my first choice in future. The thing that makes this shop the one I'd choose over Funky Pigeon and Paperchase is the size and layout of the shop. The quality and range of cards and gifts on offer is as good as at those other two outlets, and the prices are about the same. But browsing for a nice card in here, especially if you've got a bit of luggage with you for your journey, is just so much easier when you've got a bit more room to manoeuvre! You know I'd even go so far as to say I might even come here to look for a card even if I wasn't passing through the station! I did get some particularly special sparkly wrapping paper for my mum's 60th birthday pressie earlier this year, and I've never seen anything like it before elsewhere, so I think if I was looking for a really nice card / gift / wrapping paper in town and couldn't find anything that really hit the right spot, I'd come and have a look here. However I would have to expect to pay that little bit more for a product from a store like this, selling premium products in a place like the train station.

The entire shop is literally packed with exciting niche toys, books, games and figurines. The items range from old fad to new so there is surely something for everyone. Staring at you from opposite the entrance are those 'skull panda' toys, they have Resident Evil figurines (including the 'lickers' which were particularly cool), all kinds of different manga magazines, 'ugly' dolls (my favourite being the crazy long-necked one), Domo toys (possibly the cutest craze so far) and oh-so-much-more. They just about have everything in the way of fantasy, sci-fi, horror alternative gifts and such - it is truly a treasure trove of cool things. I must admit, there isn't exactly a *need* per se for, let's say, an 'ugly' doll but I'd much prefer one of those for Valentine's day than a 'forever friends' boring bear. But, I suppose, I was always more geek chic than girly girl anyway...
