Remodeling project…read more When we decided it was time to finish the lower level of our relatively new home, one of my wife's fellow Rotarians suggested we contact Brigham at Reed Building, LLC. Despite the fact that contractors in our region are very busy, Reed was able and willing to add our project to their docket. Because we were not in a rush to finish our project we would have been happy just for the fact that Reed could fit us in among their other projects. But they delivered the first wave of materials and a crew began the first phase of the project several weeks before we expected. A week or so later everything was framed up and the electrical service was roughed in. Not long after that the plastering, painting and finishing carpentry was completed. There is still more to finish -- once our vendors deliver the cabinets, tile, etc.. But based on our experience thus far the project will be finished ahead of schedule and on budget. Over the years we have built a couple of houses and I've overseen a commercial contractor complete a million dollar renovation of my place of business. Based on my previous experiences I have to rate Reed as top notch. If you have a building or remodeling project in the Minocqua area, I wholeheartedly suggest getting a bid from Reed Building, LLC.

The overall experience working with this company was unsatisfactory. The lack of supervision on the…read morejob site resulted in numerous errors. Specifically, for the ADUs with polished concrete floors, drain installation was omitted in five out of seven units prior to the concrete pour. Furthermore, window cutouts were constructed below grade, creating a risk of water infiltration. In addition, after pouring and finishing the concrete floors, expansion joints were not installed, leading to concrete cracking in two of the ADUs. I have significant concerns regarding Wickman Development & Construction and would not recommend their services.

BEWARE: We were defrauded $60,000 using Nathan Albrecht / Jack of All Trades…read more We are writing this review to inform others of the experience we had with Nathan Albrecht / Jack of All Trades. We paid him/his company almost $60,000 (April 2023 - November 2023). He was to build a deck for us at our summer home in Lake Tomahawk, WI. We contracted with him in April and by November it was not even close to being completed. When we finally had enough of the lack of work and communication, we requested a refund, which he refused to provide. Instead, the money was used for other purposes unrelated to our project. We filed a complaint with DATCP and with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office for theft by contractor. Both complaints are open and active. If you have been wronged by Nathan Albrecht / Jack of all Trades, we would encourage you to reach out to those agencies. Don't trust him, don't pay cash, make sure you have a contract that complies with the requirements of Wisconsin law including appropriate lien waivers, project completion dates, paying suppliers directly versus having Nathan Albrecht / Jack of All Trades pay the supplier. We paid Nathan directly for the materials only to have him purchase those materials and later cancel the order/materials without our knowledge or consent. He then kept the money instead of returning it to us. We have verifiable proof of this from the supplier (Boone). Also, he charged us 50% more than cost, fyi. Nathan is not a good person. The Oneida County Sheriff's Department is aware of who he is, and he has a criminal/civil record. We really wish we had known all of this before hiring him. https://wcca.wicourts.gov/case.html We hope this information helps others. We will continue to put this information out there to protect others. Mark & Kelly Feuerer tcfwkw@hotmail.com

Our experience purchasing a sliding glass door was expensive and frustratingly slow. We did…read morefinally get a very solid, locally crafted Park Vue door, but it was 2-3x the cost of something good from a big box store. The overall rating, however, is based on factors other than price. Much of The slowness came from assorted delays in placing the order by HT, before any manufacturing delays. They wouldn't place the order before receiving payment but couldn't seem to provide a quote in any timely manner that we could pay. Then, once finally paid, they seemed to sit on the order before finally placing it. Later, we realized that several options that we would have liked were never discussed (e.g, secondary lock in the track). We also dodged a bullet when confirming the dimensions for the Rough Opening. The Park Vue website had incorrect dimensions, so here I must credit HT for finding the correct RO dimensions so that we didn't cut the wrong size hole in the side of the house and install a header that didn't fit. Thanks, Shannon! After gentle inquiries and then enough badgering, we finally got an anticipated delivery date, but then we had to haggle over delivery costs, despite the quote explicitly stating that delivery was included in the cost. With the snow coming and managing the project from a distance, we didn't need the headaches. Of course, we requested an on-site inspection and quote for installation, handled by a neighbor who generously agreed to help out. She later said the man assessing the project seemed entirely disinterested, and we never received an installation quote from HT. Fortunately, we had a good installer waiting in the wings. Installation was not trivial because the Park Vue door arrived as a kit, where the frame required significant assembly. Eventually, we had a very nice door functioning well just before the Northwoods winter gets serious. But ever since initiating things in summer, we suffered many headaches dealing with HT. Whenever there was an issue, we were told an owner would call us back, but calls never came. So all the follow up constantly fell to us. Shannon was at times very helpful, but you always got the sense she was constrained by complacent owners and thus often couldn't provide information or solve problems.

I have used HT Glass for multiple project over the past 30 years. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are easy to work with. They do quality work. They do what they said they would do and when they get onsite they complete the work in a timely manner. The workers are very friendly and don't mind you watch. The backup the projects the install as one of the doors I received looked like someone tried to take sandpaper to it and now it is being replaced with a different door. I only wish I could use them on more projects but they only do so much. They are also very helpful, they listen to your ideas, and make good logical design decisions. If you are thinking about using them, don't hesitate they are the best in the northwoods at what they do. The only complaint I have is their lead times on some projects. Of course I want it done now, not a month from now or more. But I get it they have to order and get parts as well and have other jobs to do.
