Phoned twice over a seven day period and they did not have the common courtesy to return my calls.

Trust Home Comfort

Trust Home Comfort

For the past five years, ever since I installed Amazon Alexa in most of the rooms of our home, I…read morehave wanted to attach a smart thermostat as part of our smart home set-up. We have our lights, various appliances, and other smart home devices already hooked up to Alexa, but I could NEVER get a smart thermostat installed and working properly. I was unsuccessful at installing one myself, my old heating & cooling guys couldn't get one working, and an electrician we hired couldn't get one working. I was told that something was wrong with the configuration in our furnace's wiring, or alternatively, the smart thermostat we purchased was a lemon. I had to settle for running up and down the stairs, flicking the heat controller back and forth between "heat" and "cool" manually, depending on whether I needed the furnace or the central air conditioning. With the constant wild swings in Edmonton's temperature all throughout the Spring, it was a major pain to keep resetting the thermostat manually when the rest of our smart home was so automated. Recently, when our old thermostat started wearing out and malfunctioning, I thought I'd give the installation of a smart thermostat another shot. I carefully researched the reviews, and saw that Trust Home Comfort came highly recommended. They seemed to have a lot of experience in upgrading old-style thermostats to electronic smart home systems. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! My first discussions with Van were great. He understood exactly what we wanted, he sympathised at my frustrations with our previous attempts to convert to a smart thermostat, and he assured me that Trust Home Comfort could solve the problem. He promised to send his best, most experienced installer (Kang). I got an appointment immediately for two days from the day of booking, which was enough time to get the thermostat brand and model he suggested (ecobee), after I asked him for his recommendation. Amazon supplied the thermostat through next-day delivery through ecobee's Amazon store, and the installer showed up the very next day after, on-time-to-the-minute of the booking we made, to install the device. (I should also mention that Trust Home Comfort has a sophisticated computerised appointment booking and billing system, so reminders are sent out via email in a timely way before the appointment, and billing is detailed and easy-to-pay online). To make a long story short, Kang was able to immediately identify the simple wiring problem that hexed us all these years, preventing us from installing a smart thermostat sooner. At one stage years ago, our humidistat control was moved to the furnace room by our old heating and cooling guy, and the wiring of the old humidistat left behind from the old location was confused with one of the power wires needed to power-up a smart thermostat. The correct wire was quickly relocated by Trust Home Comfort's technician, and the smart thermostat was up and running in no time! The old manual thermostat worked because it didn't need external power, but when previous heating companies and electricians tried to hook up a smart thermostat to the (dead) "power wire", it naturally couldn't power-up because the old humidistat wire, although the same colour as the correct external power wire, wasn't powered. Trust Home Comfort figured out what the problem was, and fixed the problem immediately. Their experience and ability to troubleshoot problems quickly proved they were a sound choice to install our new smart thermostat. The billing was detailed, fast and very reasonable. They did exactly what they promised to do, and today the smart thermostat is working EXACTLY as it should. Their technician was experienced, and set everything up exactly as we wanted. What more could I have ask for? I can't recommend Trust Home Comfort enough! Needless to say, they are our new, permanent service provider when it comes to any home heating or cooling solutions.

The service was thorough and efficient, and everything was left clean and tidy afterward. It's reassuring to know my furnace is in good shape for the season. Would definitely use their service again.

First I tried to fix it myself, re-lit the pilot light, flushed it out, re-lit the pilot light, checked after a couple of hours for hot water, no hot water, tried to re-light the pilot light, and there was no spark. That's when I decided the job was beyond me, and I would have to call a professional. Doing the research and figuring out who to call was the hardest part. Naturally, I checked Yelp first and read some reviews. Leger's Plumbing and Heating seemed like a good bet. I liked what Chani S. had to say about her experience with Leger, so I called him up. The man himself picked up the phone right away, no fiddling around with secondary parties having to find somebody to call me back, etc. So I first reached Leger at 8:20 this morning, and he was at my house and ready to work by 9:30. He had a brand new large capacity water heater installed before noon. Leger also upgraded the gas line to the water heater, adding a debris trap that was not there before, and gave me a lot of good information about vented and tankless options that we had been considering, the practicality of removing the chimney stack to add a few square feet, whether it would be worthwhile to add a powder room to the second floor, and venting options for the dryer (all of these projects did not pass the cost/benefit analysis). I mentioned offhand that condensation was forming on the cold water lines, and Leger did a little troubleshooting, noting that condensation like that results from water constantly flowing through the lines. A lot of water. Expensive. He suggested that I add food colouring to the toilet bowls, which I did, and they passed the test. Once the taps were all shut off and the water heater installed, Leger said, "Do you hear that? There's your water leak." It was the humidifier - a valve stuck in the open position was pouring water through the humidifier at a good cup to pint a minute. That's a lot of water wasted. I actually knew about the humidifier problem, and that a valve was stuck in the open position, but the quote we got to repair it was substantial enough to put off the repairs. Leger shut down the tap to the humidifier for us and gave me a quote for the repair, a fraction of the previous quote, and asked him to come back when he has some down time (not an urgent job). I knew that the job would be done right. We had a lot of fun talking about Mike Holmes. Leger is a fan. If Mike Holmes ever worked with Leger, I bet he would be a fan of Leger's Plumbing and Heating. I sure am.

They've installed a garage furnace including running new gas line, re-routed my gas BBQ line, installed a hot water tank, fixed the same garage furnace 8 years later, and most recently, installed a water line for our fridge. Two of the reviews for this company seem like they are complete bullshit. As far as I know, no one named "Vern" ever worked for Leger. Leger was a one man show up until about 18 months ago when his very capable nephews bought the company. They now have more capacity and expertise. I think it's worked out well. I will continue to use Leger's as my go-to plumbing experts. And the price is far more reasonable than other shops in Sherwood Park. Please consider this company if you are looking for home plumbing repairs.

ESPECIALLY when my smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector started going off! Not knowing if I'd slowly die of carbon monoxide poisoning was scary-- especially on the coldest day of the year so far! Fortunately, the lady I spoke to at Acclaimed reassured me that what was going off WASN'T the carbon monoxide detector (once I gave her more details). They couldn't get anyone over here any sooner, but she did refer me to some other businesses to see if anyone else had availability any sooner. For the peace of mind she gave me in the middle of chaos (with the detector blaring in the background), I will give them a fantastic rating. It was SO appreciated!

The technician arrived on time, was courteous, professional and seemed to be competent. After about 30-45 minutes he told us that we needed to replace the heat pump and that it could not be repaired. We paid the service fee of about $200 and asked that they send out someone who could give us a estimate to replace the heat pump. 2 days later another technician came out, and gave us an estimate. Again, he was on time, courteous, professional and friendly. I mentioned the need to replace the heat pump to a friend who lives in our building. He mentioned another company and so we called them to get an estimate on replace the heat pump. They came out, and looked at it, asked some questions, did some maintenance and the heat pump is working! No replacement needed! Getting this 2nd opinion saved us literally thousands of $. We are so grateful for the other company and will probably not call Acclaimed! again for a repair - since either their technicians are not competent, or they tried to sell us something we didn't need. After I posted this review, the owner of the company apologized for the misdiagnosis and offered to refund the initial service fee. He was very polite, listening and we had a good conversation. He handled this with grace and so much better than other owners. I'll raise my rating to a 2 from a 1 because of this call. It was appreciated.

I sent messages to a couple of plumbing outfits, but they didn't even respond. After a week of using buckets to capture the water leaking and dripping down into the basement, I gave up waiting for the first two outfits to respond and sent more messages to about 8 more plumbing outfits ... but again, most of them didn't even respond. I got 3 responses, 2 of which demanded ridiculously excessive deposits of $ 325 and $ 500 respectively. Max Plumbing and Heating was the only one who was quick to respond interactively through the Yelp messaging system, answered questions, was flexible, gave a ballpark estimate, and only demanded a reasonable deposit of $ 99. Max showed up when we asked him to, quickly found the reason for the leak, and replaced the worn-through pipe within a few hours, for a flat rate of $ 500, which was very reasonable for a 2-person crew for about 3 hours. He offered to clean out part of an attached pipe that was full of gunk but wasn't leaking for an extra $ 50, which was good and reasonable, so we agreed. Max was very knowledgeable and friendly, and even pointed out and explained some things about our kitchen drainage system that were problematic, without being asked, and didn't push or even suggest that we call him back to address those issues. Work was completed competently and efficiently. Quality of work was excellent. Value was very good. I would definitely recommend Max Plumbing and Heating!
