When you pay for a service they can't even provide. If I wanted to roll my trash cans up and down my driveway I wouldn't pay for driveway service.... they only back halfway up the driveway; walk to the top to get the cans and then leave the cans in the middle of the driveway...and that's when they actually show up. They don't realize a lot of people have cameras on their houses, and when you call they blantantly lie to you.... And paying upfront is shady... when they are so unreliable. Was only with them a short time before they changed to Oak Ridge, but were phenomenal while we had them. Came faithfully once per week down our dead-end private road (with no cul-de-sac). They often had to use the small truck & back it down the block. Usually came between 7-10AM & were careful with our cans. They took care to avoid our neighbors' property & rarely used the driveways for turn around. Everyone at the transfer station was pleasant & helpful. They were attentive & made sure to thoroughly answer any questions we had. (We are from NYC & always had city services, so this was all new to us). I'm not one to post a review about my trash company, but in this case I'll make an exception! Winter Brothers prices are competitive compared to other companies in the area. What puts them over the top and sets them apart from others is the customer service of their drivers. The person who takes care of my house absolutely goes above and beyond of any company I've ever utilized (there's been many over the years). Johnny, without fail is the only reason I would not consider another trash company, even if the price were cheaper. A few extra dollars a month for amazing service, by a driver who cares about his customers, far outweighs everything else. Harbor carting sold there route to winter brothers, to insure we stayed with them they had a salesman come to our door and lie to our faces about what we were signing. Ya see, I answered the door in a rush to go to work and told the man I hve no glasses on, he assured me I was only signing that winter brothers was taking over my route. What I really signed was a five year contract, all of us signed it who used them on my block. When I found out what they did I demanded they remove their container from my home. They refused to do it and is now suing me for the money. They will not remove their container from my driveway. Don't tolerate this behavior and support the corrupt criminals. read more

They don't show up, they throw garbage everywhere and their record keeping is terrible. They picked up our Christmas tree over a month late, sent us an invoice for it 2 days later, with a notice that we were delinquent for paying for the tree pickup $30 and they're not coming to pick up our garbage until we pay. We literally just got the invoice. The tree had just been picked up. I feel like the timing was intentionally because the next day was pickup day so I couldn't even get in touch wit them in time to pay and get my trash picked up. Meanwhile we have a card on file which they have no problem overcharging on a regular basis, making us spend hours on the phone w them fixing the problem, but they couldn't charge the $30? Terrible. I tried . . .the first two weeks, they were wonderful. No problems, then they skipped picking up, and then I asked to add pick up and return to the garage instead of the street. They agreed, and sent me a bill for more money. BUT THEY ARE STILL not doing this. And they continue to miss picking up on two or three weeks. A real pain. I've had this company for three years, first as Winter Brothers and then as the new company. I've never had any trouble with them, they don't miss pick ups and in the winter they have called me to say that due to storms and such there will be no pick up. Some of my neighbors have changed over to them because their prices were cheaper than other companies as well. read more

One star is too much! We are paying this company to pick up our garbage on our property which is located on the side of house. They have been coming at 4:30 am making noise and disturbing the entire household and I'm sure the neighbors. My husband complained said they would rectify the problem. Did not. The worst with the garbage/recycling pickup. We started in mid Nov - out of the 9 weekly pickups, they only showed up for 4 of them. 5 times....FIVE....we came home from work with full containers. I can't recall how mamy phone calls were made, discussions with managers....to get the stupid driver to pick up the trash. How hard it is to drive the truck next to the garbage bins and have the auto arm do the work???? First of all they trick you into signing a contract.When I I tried to cancel it because I found a better deal They told me that the contract is for 5 years or until I go out of business.When we didn't have any garbage and put the account on vacation hold(as they suggested) ,they cancelled my account without my knowledge.I paid for the whole month, but they told me that I have no credit on the account.Now I want them to pick up their container and they want my credit card upfront.They work like a mafia.I called my representative and the office. The man who picked up my trash for years and came faithfully every week and never over charged me sold to these clowns. They have been "picking up" my trash for the last 8 weeks and they have not shown up FIVE of those weeks. Every time I call, the girls who answer the phone are very nice and they credit me for the missed pick up but no one ever apologizes and they act like this happens all the time. A few times they said they would have someone out to pick up my trash that day and no one even shows up then! I have never gotten to speak to a manager, no one seems to care about the quality of their service. Awful. I don't care if I wind up having to pay more, I am going elsewhere. read more

It's trash pickup, with garbage service. More missed pickups than actual ones. They show up about 50% of the time they are supposed to. They use their own trash barrels, and delivered them with the lower rod that the truck grabs onto broken, then told me I should get it fixed. read more

What an incredibly horrible company. They do nothing to communicate with each other or their customers. I had two instances where they missed collecting my garbage, the first time they came back the next day but left loose trash all over my yard and didn't pick it up. The second time I was rolling my cans down the driveway at 6:45a and the guy in the truck is on my street in front of my house and he looks at me and drives away! I called the company immediately and heard his truck on the next street over. The receptionist said they could not contact him. What kind of business can not communicate with their drivers? He promised us he would get him to come back and take the trash. All the rest of the day goes by and still no one shows, despite three further calls and three further promises that someone would pick it up that day. I get home at 7p and of course the trash is still there and now they are closed. I call and leave a voicemail demanding someone call me back first thing in the morning and no one does. The next day my trash is still there and I call at noon to address the lack of a trash pick up, the empty promises made that someone would pick it up yesterday and the fact that no one called me back even. The representative states they cannot pick it up today and he cannot get in touch with his supervisor. Still no communication within the company and no remorse for what they have put me through or promised to me. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and they took my number and never called back. SO incredibly disrespectful! If I treated any of my customers this way I would be fired in a heartbeat. Needless to say they lost a customer now over this unbelievable display of unprofessionalism. read more

This is a really long story so I'll do it in a series. Chapter 1 " The Bait and Switch " About 2 years I was approached by a young man in my driveway soliciting new customers. I had never thought about it because I had my previous for over 20 years and was very satisfied. They gave me a great rate, so I switched, WORST DECISION I COULD'VE MADE!!!!!! They dropped trash and recycle receptacles off but did show up for over 3 weeks after that and it took numerous calls to get them to pick up. They promised to credit my account.....that never happened In that two year period my rates steadily increased to what amounts to over a 35% increase with no notice of increases. So far we have horrible customer service and what I believe to deceptive pricing tactics. So Shame on you Winter Bros. for deceiving widowed, empty nest, senior citizens!!!!!
