Pooches Playhouse - Alma showing her "signature" trick for a treat at Pooches Playhouse.

Pooches Playhouse

I have never written a negative review in my life. It took the DEATH of my TWO DOGS under their…read morecare to write this. On Friday May 7, 2021, both my dogs (Rocky, 5lbs yorkie & Tango 4.5lbs Maltese-yorkie) were victims of a violent attack by another dog (a husky) while under the supervision of Pooches Playhouse. I was only told that Rocky was "unresponsive" with no mention of our other dog Tango. Nothing will bring them back, but I feel it's important for people to understand the risks of taking their dogs to this daycare. We were going to pick them up on May 7/2021 in the evening, and just two hours before picking them up, at 6:32pm I got the call that Rocky had been attacked by another dog and that a staff member from there was taking him to a vet. He was taken to two different vet clinics, one had already closed and another one did the responsible & ethical thing to do, which was to refer them to a 24/7 emergency to give Rocky a chance to survive as they acknowledged this was a serious emergency that may require ventilators, plasma, etc: which they don't have. At this point the owner of PP told me she was going to instruct her staff member to take Rocky to the Bridgwater vet emergency, and didn't even seem to know that Pembina Emergency Vet (which is located closer) is open 24/7 until I told her so. As we were on our way to meet up with Rocky, the daycare owner called me again saying that Tango (our other dog) had been attacked too and that he didn't survive. She told my husband and I that Tango was taken (by a customer that supposedly had walked in when this happened) to a different vet clinic than Rocky, yet the owner could not answer the simple question of where it was that her customer had taken my dog Tango to. The owner made it all about herself, & even though she later apologized for that, she hasn't yet given a valid explanation of why we didn't find out at the same time about both dogs, which makes me think they were unsupervised and they didn't even find the second one until after the fact. We had trusted Pooches Playhouse with their lives and when it came down to their final hour we couldn't even comfort them as they took their last breath, because the owner didn't even know where my dogs were. Nothing can ever bring them back, but I think there are some important lessons (for all parties involved, including myself) that need to be learned from this experience. If you consider taking your dog to daycare: -Ask tough questions about the establishment's safety measures/procedures and rules to separate larger dogs from the little ones. -Ask about dog vs person ratio. Even if there are no by-laws that address it, common sense and this tragedy should be good indicators that the amount of staff members in this case were not able to have full control of the dogs they had at that time. If your own a doggy daycare: -Post emergency vet clinics' phone numbers in a place that's VISIBLE TO ALL STAFF. Have all nearby vet clinics phone numbers handy with their hours of operation updated on a regular basis. -Separate dogs by size, play style and social skills. -Just because "nothing's ever gone wrong before" doesn't mean what you're doing is always right. -If you are short staffed have a contingency plan in place, maybe even close the store front or put up a sign to come back later or call in for a staff member to assist them when it's safe for the dogs to have someone to come to the front. And finally.... -If you own a violent dog DO NOT put others at risk by taking it to daycare (never heard of two small yorkies being a threat to a husky). That husky didn't just kill one dog, it killed two dogs and it will kill again, given the opportunity. Thank you for taking the time to read this review and why I had to rate them 1 star after almost 7 years of being their clients. The best way I know to honor the lives of Tango and Rocky is to create awareness. I hope that meaningful changes are made so no one has to experience this type of tragedy in the future.

Do you think it is enough to apologize? and say they have been in business for 8 years (which is…read moreabsolutely nothing). They should go out of business and go out because they obviously have no idea what it's like. They put 99 dogs of all sizes and breeds in a room, what kind of crazy is that? Avoid taking your dogs there

The Dog Loft - The aftermath

The Dog Loft

I am appalled by The Dog Loft and I simply have to warn others of the horrific experience I had…read morewith them last week. I have a cream french bulldog whom as a brachycephalic dog, gets overheated during prolonged play, hence needs constant breaks. I had instructed The Dog Loft to put him in a kennel in the back room every couple of hours in order for him to get a breather throughout the day. I was assured multiple times by multiple people including the owner, Katie, that this was been done. Forward to the end of last week when I go pick up my dog at the end of my work day to find that his ears had purple bruises. He also had chunks of dried blood all over his neck and jaw. Alarmed, I called The Dog Loft as I had just picked up my dog. They said they hadn't noticed and that it was probably all due to "rough play". I emailed them further with pictured of his injuries, a detailed report from our vet mentioning PUNCTURED WOUNDS on my dog and a vet bill. I spoke to Katie over the phone and all she kept saying was that she attributed it to rough play and that her and her staff didn't know how to make me happy. Our doctor specifically said that his injuries where not conclusive with regular dog play and that there was certainly a lack of supervision at the daycare as this was not normal. She adviced that we went elsewhere for doggy daycare as this place was obviously dropping the ball. A few more emails back and forth I told Katie, the owner that we were not coming back and that we wanted a complete refund of our 10 day package purchase as we had only used one day and it was the day that my dog got injured. She said that she would send a check in the mail. Its been over a week and we have not received anything from her. The most appalling this is that throughout the interaction with us there was never any remorse, a we are sorry or even asking if our dog was alright. I didn't even ask her to cover our vet bill, just for the $245 dollars that we spent there and used once. Nothing. I mentioned at the start of this review that my dog was suppose to be taken to the back every couple of hours, hence if they were doing this as I was assured, then there is no way they would have not noticed his injuries if he was in fact getting individual attention throughout the day. The fact that I was the one that had to notify these people of my dog's injuries is THE MOST appalling thing of all and the biggest reason why I am leaving this review; to warn others of their negligence. Not once when I went to pick up my dog did I see staff inside the small dog area with them. They were always behind the counter which makes it impossible for them to see the dogs during play. They are mostly unattended and only go in there to clean up the space. Its horrifying. The lack of care that we have received after all of this and the lies from the owner herself as well as her lack of accountability is not just heartbreaking but infuriating. I wish Facebook would let me post pictures adjacent to reviews. I will be posting this on their wall along with pictures of every single thing I have mentioned here, including the correspondence with the owner to corroborate what I just wrote. If you can't find it on this page its because they went ahead and deleted it. Don't be fooled by their nice location and cute dog pictures like I did. They give zero damns about the dogs in their "care" and won't even reimburse you when they drop the ball. You should be ashamed of yourself Katie Heinrichs.

This place has gone down hill over the last year. There were many times I would pick my dogs up and…read morethey would just reek of urine which leads me to believe the level of cleanliness is subpar. There was a big staff turnover and I found many of the new staff extremely rude and unprofessional. I witnessed one client be treated incredibly poorly after she complained about her dog's grooming (it DID look uneven even to my untrained eye and she was being charged A LOT) and another time I actually saw 2 staff members yelling at one another in the lobby. I also disagree with the way this business and their staff use social media to bully and shame anyone who says anything negative about them. Instead of attacking clients who have had bad experiences they should invest in simple customer service (and people skills). If they're willing to treat their paying clients so horribly imagine how the dogs are being treated!

I can put in my products that I want to buy, but I have to do it five times because their app keeps deleting my cart. When I FINALLY get the cart to check out - I fill in my address correctly (I always double check now - that's a different story) and ask for delivery. Do you know they have Uber drivers doing delivery? Do you also know that their ordering system inputs the address wrong and the drivers (not their fault) go to the completely wrong address? This happened TWICE. And both times the driver was in a completely different town from where I live. Despite the driver calling to ask where I lived and despite me telling the person where I lived, they refused to drive to my location and just cancelled my order. This happened TWICE. I even tried to make sure the address was correct on the tracking for the Uber driver BUT IT DOES NOT LET ME EDIT IT! So, again my order is cancelled because the Uber driver could not find my address because PetSmart's App enters it in wrong. It was right on my order confirmation so it wasn't at my end. Fix your app PetSmart! Those poor drivers are given the run around and don't get paid if they don't deliver. That's on you PetSmart not the customer. I will never order from PetSmart again because of this run around and still no product!! Do not order online it's a waste of time!!

The tanks were overcrowded, disgusting, and full of parasites. When I told the sales assistant what I was looking for, she had the nerve to tell me about how big the fish would get, including the fish requirements, while it was clear that none of these fish would live to reach those standards. I was horrified and immediately left. DO NOT BUY THESE FISH BECAUSE YOU WILL INTRODUCE DISEASES TO YOU HEALTHY FISH IF YOU DO NOT OWN A QUARANTINE TANK. I have videos and photos from my visit.
