This company was a total rip off. They promised NO MORE than 16 people and jammed us up with 20. Were never given enough time at the stops, food and hotels they lined up sucked. Our trip had 2 guides (one for Ecuador and one for the rest of the trip) The first guide was really good and the second one was beyond horrible. Again these people had no problem over booking our tour which lead to huge problems including have one bus pick us up and people having to sit on the floor, with their luggage as there were no enough seats on the bus. It has now been 2 years since we took this trip and we have yet to hear anything back from Wing Buddies, or should I say rip off buddies which is what they should call them self. read more

Hands down the worst group tour I have ever taken. My traveling buddy wa my niece and we requested 2 beds when booking. Every hotel had us in a room with only 1 bed. The Wingbuddy representative said they would take care of it but that never happened. Breakfast was overcrowded and slow on replenishing plates of food. Everyday we followed another Wingbuddy bus and our bus was always second to arrive, making bathroom breaks a long wait in line. I didn't feel that the guides were all that knowledgeable on the locations visited or history. They were more like glorified babysitters. We booked a trip for 6 friends on a tour to Costa Rica. Unfortunately, there were complications from the beginning. 1. Our flight was cancelled and Wingbuddy refused to answer the calls because they stated they were busy rebooting other tours. It took 3 weeks to rebook the flight. 2. Our tour bus was too small for our group. Their solution was to put the luggage on the roof of the van while we drove 5 hours through the jungle in the rain. Then they decided that the luggage will be stacked in the aisles. So the emergency exits were all blocked by the luggage, and no one could exit the bus until each row's luggage was moved out of the aisle. This caused a 1h delay. 3. The bus driver did not know the route to either the restaurant, which we passed 3 times and had to turn around illegally multiple times, then did not know the route to the hotel and asked people on the street. This caused a 2h delay. Because of all this we were 3h late for the town and missed the excursion. 3. The next day, the bus driver couldnt be found. The tour guide has to find him 30 minutes later. The bus driver then took us to a coffee tour where he went to the wrong coffee tour. 4. For all this hassle, Wingbuddy offered compensation of one alcoholic beverage at dinner. I have been on multiple tours all over the world, and I would not recommend this company at all. read more

Wingbuddy - Japan Great Discovery 2025 Departure: November 4, 2025 Return: November 18, 2025 My husband and I recently returned from the Wingbuddy organized tour: Japan Great Discovery 2025 departing on November 4, 2025. While we loved Japan, our experience with this tour company was unlike anything we had ever experienced before. We have travelled extensively and in a variety of ways, and are used to unexpected issues arising; however, this experience was well beyond that. We booked with this tour company because it was Canadian and we wanted to support a Canadian business, and friends who had travelled to Greece and Thailand with the company had had great reviews about their travel. The Japan itinerary looked wonderful - busy, but with lots to see and do. Our negative experience centres around three main issues: 1. Group size 2. Quality of the tour guide 3. The tour company/tour itinerary Group Size Despite the stated maximum group size for this tour on the Wingbuddy website (35), our group had 38 participants. Thirty-five is already a large and unmanageable number, but 38 was beyond reasonable. This was the root problem of much of the issues that we experienced during this tour. In any tour group, there are going to be odd delays or people who arrive a few minutes late for a designated location or time, but when you are dealing with 38 people, and a tour guide with poorly developed leadership and communication skills, it was excessive. We lost so much valuable time at various sites and points of interest because we were waiting for people to catch up, counting and recounting people, repeating details about meeting sites...Our tour experience was not what it could have been. Quality of the Tour Guide in Japan Our tour guide, Aki, lacked effective leadership and communication skills. With a group of 38, this is even more important! While he was a nice man, he was overwhelmed with this assignment. His English skills, particularly pronunciation, were not at the level required to lead an English tour group. We had difficulty understanding what he was saying and when members of the group would ask for clarification, or ask him to repeat, he would become frustrated. "Please listen!" or "I already told you that!" was a constant refrain directed to the tour participants. Despite our best efforts to tune our listening skills, we missed information, did not hear, or did not fully understand. As his frustration level and lack of patience increased, he targeted certain individuals on the group tour. Publicly berating and shaming grown adults in front of other members of the group happened a few times. This is unprofessional and unacceptable conduct that made everyone uncomfortable and unwilling to even ask a question. No one needs to be treated this way! If he felt that he needed to discuss a situation with someone, have a private conversation in order to maintain everyone's dignity. Again, the group size played into this. In addition to poor pronunciation, his communication was not clear, focused or linear. Instead of presenting pertinent information in manageable chunks about what happening in the immediate future, he would go off on tangents about upcoming events in the next days or other things. Everyone was confused! When giving meeting times, we would have to clarify each time with him - "Are we meeting at 8:00 am or are we leaving at 8:00 am? These little details are important! Effective group management techniques were not used or used haphazardly. 1. On the very first meeting day in Tokyo, there was no Wingbuddy signage, banner, flag, information board ... so, we got off to a late start. At every stop on the first day, we lost so much time trying to count 38 people and keep the walking group intact. As the tour days continued, we encouraged him to implement a "counting off" system where each person was assigned a number and we could just call out our numbers in order. That helped, but again, rounding up 38 people was difficult. 2. When he did use a flag or a sign to lead our walking group, it was not held high enough for people at the back of the group to actually see it. Note - during the trip, he lost his flag! Then, when he used the sign, it was held at chest level. What's the point? The only time it was truly visible, is when one of the group participants took control and held it up! It is important to note that during one of our walks, three people got separated from the group and did not make it to the restaurant. The guide had to go back to try and locate them. This is a frightening and unacceptable situation for anyone in a foreign country. AVOID! There are more issues than this, but you get the idea! read more

We had a horrible time as did you Sandra. We did not have the 16 person MAX as promised making for bus trips where the luggage had to travel on our laps and one poor soul did not even have a seat. Plus over crowded meals, excursions and just a horrible time. And as to customer service??? We tried to contact Wingbuddy over and over and over again and heard nothing UNTIL AFTER the trip was over and then it was just sorry you were disappointed. I booked a trip to Costa Rica in December of 2023 paying for one extra night upon arrival. Two days later realized I did not need/want it. I tried for @ 6 months to get them to cancel that one night..........to no avail. No answers to phone calls, or texts. Actually, after TONS of calls and texts, one person named Suzie called saying she would try to cancel it and would call me the next day. Never heard from her. Saw in some small print on the itinerary that there MAY BE an exit fee from Costa Rica of $29.00 per person. I was short on cash and called them to ask if the airport/airline would take credit cards. They didn't know! Seriously!!!???? How can you run a travel agency and not know this information??? If you want a reputable, responsible tour company............look elsewhere. Italian dream or a nightmare? I had the misfortune of booking a trip to Italy, THE ITALIAN DREAM, package, with my wife through wingbuddy for June 6, 2004. After the first flight from Edmonton to Toronto went very well, when I was preparing to make my flight from Toronto to Rome, the airline informed me that I could not make the flight to Italy because my passport did not meet the necessary requirements. The Transat airline told me to contact Wingbuddy to re-book my trip when my passport met the requirements, which I did immediately using Wingbuddy's emergency email. I received the reply that they were very sorry but that I had to be patient because they would never re-book my trip or pay credits, and they canceled my trip to Italy on the first day, which for Wingbuddy means that the process ended there and the services ceased to exist. I couldn't come to terms with the idea of losing a $7,000 trip, because most of the services were not provided by wingbuddy, such as the hotels in Italy, the bus trips, the meals, the visits to the museums, and even the return trip to Canada which, from Rome, was scheduled for eight days after they canceled my trip without informing me. Despite the fact that wingbuddy and its partners never did most of the services, I was left without seven thousand dollars, which I had saved with a lot of effort over two years. This, was money that immorally ended up in the hands of people who only see the profit in front of them without caring how it is acquired. Wingbuddy never proves that it pays for its services in Italy because it doesn't even know which hotels its clients are staying in. I was out seven thousand dollars, but from what I've read in some reviews of other customers, I'm unfortunately not the only one in this situation. There are lots of concerns all over. I just wonder how long our government will allow wingbuddy to continue having these non clear procedures about payments for services it never provided to its customers because it doesn't even have proof of such. I will never recommend Wingbuddy, because it's an agency that specializes in selling products and then never takes any responsibility for what it sells. Wingbuddy's responsibility ends at the moment you pay them, a way before you take your flight. Finally, I want to say to Wingbuddy that I don't need your whining as an answer, or that you weren't to blame for anything that happened, or that you paid for the services in Italy, because that Wingbuddy will never prove for the simple reason that in my case it never was paid. If wingbuddy paid, use this space to prove that the hotel rooms in Italy were booked in my and my wife's name, and that Transat did not use our return seats to Canada to sell to other customers. Clarity of procedures should also be one of your priorities, so that you become a credible company that your customers can trust and feel proud of. Until you do, you don't deserve the slightest trust from potential customers. I think the best and safe way to visit Italy is to book our own flights and contact a local agency in Italy to do the same tour. As far as I know, it will be cheaper and safer.
