Great hipster discovery in Lisbon! We got it a suggestion…read morebut then were not planning to go. Yet, we found it by chance walking around midnight cross Lardo do Intendente. They had a dj that night and the music was filling the whole neighbourhood, so we decided to see what was happening. It is an apartment on the first floor with a couple of rooms and a great terrace/patio on the back. The atmosphere is really really nice and we had a fun night there. They closed around 2.30 though, so maybe next time I would go earlier and also try the food! In my past Lisbon trips I hadn't been to this area of town and it was a very pleasant discovery: there are also other nice bars and shops around.

We started surprising compliment dish - Minha Rose. The trick is to find out one paddle is eatable. Then follow by four courses of appetizers. I like the most is the taco and control candy four-gras. The main course includes flower paddle ceviche and OX tail are great item to have. They close with many appetizers such as strawberry lipsticks and more. I've had so many fantastic and memorable meals they are too numerous to list (even on a spreadsheet). But, I've never had a "WTF" meal ever, until tonight. Tonight's dinner at Canponesa in Lisbon, Portugal slammed me like Mac Truck. Camponesa is this amazing restaurant that does not take reservations, is cash only and a 90 minute wait is normal to secure a table. But what you get, if your patient and tenacious, is a 5 Star dinner that not only astound you, but will blow your mind, like it did mine. Their menu is on a portable blackboard your server brings to your table and explains each dish they offer. Everything, I repeat everything they offer sounds stupendous. We chose four: * A whole squid cooked in a way that the texture is indescribable. It's firm but not crunchy and it's in a onion warm sauce. I've never had squid done so unusually, and it was fantastic! * Whole Unshelled Prawns in a spicy sauce that was so good it made my liver quiver. Just amazing! * A raw beef dish that was ever so slightly seared with pickled onions, raw celery root with an olive oil base. It was so unique you won't find a match to this dish anywhere on this planet. * Like these three dishes weren't enough, our fourth and final dish was as mind blowing as any psychedelic drug known to man - a Charred Veal Rib that will certainly go down as "The Best Thing I Ever Ate In My Life"!!!!! It was so good, I cannot put into words how honestly exquisite and well prepared a "food" can be / get / happen / transpire or come about. Out of the thousands and thousands of things I've eaten (since that Lobster Thermador at 7 years old), this one, large veal rib was my pièce de résistance bite ever - and there is "No" second place - "Period"! The service was stellar, the ambiance is "old school" comfortable Cafe style and the wine list represents Portuguese wine at it's best. My experience here is as good as any meal can get! If I'm within 1,000 miles of Lisbon, Portugal, I will travel here just for one more world class dinner these nice people create.

I liked that no one was outside trying to sell me on coming in and in fact, you might even get the feeling here that they don't even want you to come in; not in a bad way. The interior has an intimate feel and there is a warmth throughout. Service got a bit better and friendlier as the night went on. I went with a shrimp and rice dish which looked a lot better than it was. Their sangria was just ok too, but when I came for, Fado, was worth the price of admission. The performers played a mix of traditional Fado with some very untraditional Fado. I really enjoyed seeing the two different styles and they were extremely talented artists. I'm really glad this was my Fado experience in Lisbon and despite what I ordered being a bit lackluster, I would not hesitate to come here again.

The buffet comes with a generous assortment of freshly baked breads. They were still are still hot from the oven. Lots of national dessert called pastel de nata. I ate at least four and probably will not be eating too many of those in the future. Around the breads, had make your own pancake station, bacon, sausage links, scrambled eggs, potatoes and the usual breakfast items. The bar area had chilled sprinkling wines and juice stations. You can also order coffee and such as part of the buffet. My coffee was excellent. To the back had cold cuts and fresh fruits. Not to forget, omelet stations also. The service was good, the food tasted great and everyone was very friendly friendly. 12% tax for food. Yikes

We told the server we'd like to order from the menu; it took awhile for her to return to actually give us menus and take the orders -- 30 minutes later our food had not arrived (it was only omelettes). We joked amongst ourselves that they must've been waiting for the chickens to finish laying the eggs! My husband got up to ask our server, who hadn't been past our table since taking the order, if we could get our food and she looked perplexed. When she then brought the plates to the table it was obvious that all four dishes had been sitting on the counter in the kitchen for a long time -- the hash browns were cold and congealed and the eggs were rubbery and cold with a strange flavor. Two of the four omelettes were even the wrong combination of ingredients! We ended up walking out and the manager apologized and said our room would not be billed; I think they should've offered us something from the buffet at that point. I suggest you don't bother with it unless you want the $25 buffet; and I can't really comment on the quality of what was on those platters either. There's lots of great options in Lisbon for breakfast, choose one of those instead.
