This offers a certain level of comfort knowing you are not with a bunch of strangers, which really helped me focus right from the beginning of my float session. I didn't have many expectations, which may be why I was blown away at the level of professionalism and all the thought and planning that went into Sapphire springs. The place was impeccably clean and the owner was very professional. Everything is explained to you, even some things that you think are not necessary but end up being very valuable information. We each had our own private room. With that being said, there was no need to worry about locks or having anything taken. Finally it was float time. I took a shower first, then got in the tank, shut the lid, turn off the lights and went for a full sensory deprivation. The music really helps you prepare. I played around with different ways to lay and hold my head so I would be most comfortable. The hour flew by. I thought I was only in for 30 minutes, but my clock said otherwise. I could not believe it. The immediate effects were zero back and knee soreness that I normally have. I felt like I had gone through a massage. And yes, some of this is TMI, but I am hoping to reach and help others. I recently had an intestinal health issue - my ileocecal valve was inflamed and not functioning properly. I don't always have access to organic foods where I live so I think the accumulation of pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides affected my normal function. I had pain and an overall feeling as if something was stuck. I tried supplements and changing some things in my diet, and those did help. But I knew I needed a colonic. Noone offers this service where I live, so I came to Michigan a couple weeks ago to visit family and booked a colonic with Michelle. First thing to mention is that Michelle offers the closed system - far superior to the open system, which I tried in California in 2012. The open system is like a continuos enema, which isn't bad, but the water and cleanse can't reach to the other side like it does with the closed. And that's exactly what I needed for my problem. Michelle does a way better job at explaining the differences between the two, but all I can say is - I will always go for the closed method. Second thing to mention is I ended up needing two treatments to get through all the sludge and blockages in my descending colon to access the ascending colon. I brought a friend with me (that's a good friend!) and she ended up purchasing a four pack. If I lived near someone that offered colonics, I would go yearly or maybe twice a year. I know people who go regularly and others who only go when they have an issue. When you think about it, it is kind of weird to think about getting your butt cleaned out, but - just don't think about that. Instead, think about all the money, doctor's visits, and pain you could save yourself by having this done. That's the way I look at it. About half-way through the second session the hard plaque-like blockage came out and I immediately felt relief. Now, my digestion is 100% and I am pain-free. There was no pill that I could have taken to cure my issue and it cost me 2 treatments of colon hydrotherapy and 2 hours of my life. If you are someone thinking about this, I encourage you to call Michelle and discuss your questions with her. I really believe in the healing and preventative benefits of this service.

It was a solo experience and I left recovered and relaxed. Couple things held it back. The guy explaining everything was rushed. Nobody told me the wristband has a number that matches your locker, and you tap the band on the sensor on that locker to lock and unlock it. So I stashed my stuff on the bench next to the lockers and looked dumb for a minute. Small thing, but that one detail would've saved me. He ran through the cold plunge temperature options quick but didn't tell me what to expect or do once I was in the sauna, so I was figuring that out on my own. There was also no explanation on pricing or membership. I only got in through a Yelp invite so I lucked out there. On price, it's around $60 for a 2 hour session. Maybe that's worth it. For me it's steep. If they added 1 hour sessions at half that, or landed in the $25-35 range, I'd be a regular. If I had the budget I would've signed up on the spot. Also cool to find out it's part owned by a Latino, makes me happy I tried it. If you can swing the price, it's worth doing at least once.

Starting in the locker room, it's really nice and there's a lot of space to get changed. Especially if you're coming from work or going to work. Olivia explained the different bath temperatures (you shower between each one in cold water too). They ranged from 55 degrees to I think 40 degrees (intervals of 5). I was struggling with the 55 and 50 but briefly tried the lower ones and it was too much for me. In between that, you go into the sauna, which I particularly enjoy. I was the only one there so it was very quiet and relaxing. Overall it's a really cool place! They have memberships too. Again, it's not for me other than the sauna, but enjoyed trying it!
