I have never bought anything "major" at Windsor. A simple platinum band for the wife and had a ring made a long time ago. Recently I've mostly gone for small watch repair issues. Every city needs a quality place to get a watch, an engagement ring or a anniversary gift. This is such a place. Visited the store in May and purchased a lovely necklace and earrings. Looked at a beautiful "estate piece" which I planned to purchase if 2 inches of gold chain could be added (chain to be matched). I was assured that this would not be a problem...Dropped off my watch for its check up and wedding rings to be resized. I returned to pick up jewelry but the associate I had worked with was "too busy" to help me. She asked one of her associates to get my watch and rings. Not only did they do a fabulous job on the repair but were concerned about where I parked my car as it began to downpour rain outside. Stopped in to browse and get a watch bracelet resized. First impression was ... boxy non-descript building with a sheriff's squad car in the parking lot. Hmmm. Went inside and very nice. Heavily tattooed with 6grand in cash. So I have been looking for an engagement ring for my fiancé and decided to check out Windsor Jewelers. Upon entering the location I was dressed in my training/military uniform coming from the range. Once I entered the location (un armed) I was greeted by (Richmond County's Finest) the sheriff officer that controls the domination in that area, whom by the way made it clear that he wasn't comfortable with my presence. Upon being greeted by a sales associate, we spoke for a little while about combinations and pricing and asked me if I wanted to go in the back and look at stones (diamonds). Once I walked around back the officer stops me and asks my name, I responded (everyone call's me L.T) that's all you need to know. Have you ever got that feeling upon entering a location that you were being watched, judged, and or consistently monitored? Well, I got that the moment I walked through the door. I am heavily tattooed 220 pounds with a beard. I guess the officer was trying to stay (1-up) on me, however, their is no need for that. Conclusion I walked in there willing to spend 6,000 dollars, rest assured I did not, I will not, and I want be going in there again. I went to another Jewelers store in Augusta and bought the most amazing ring. So buyers be aware, (I guess this place was a little too classy for me, they want golfers, mayors, presidents, and their friends to come buy jewelry, not a sailor! I have mixed feelings here. I went in and was greeted and helped right away. I had a very nice ring that needed work... A 20.5 carat stone needed to be reset and I wanted prongs put in that would hold the stone. I was going on vacation soon and thought it would be nice to wear it. It was due to be finished on Friday... I arrive Saturday to find it not finished. They hurry it and I can still hear the stone moving. I got back and they say they will build the prongs thicker... What I asked for the first visit and didn't get. They didn't charge me for any extra work, but I don't even know if it was done. I don't wear the ring, but a few weeks later I can hear it moving again. It's a tough ring and a tough stone to work. They were in the middle of moving upstairs or something and didn't call me to say it wouldn't be done, not cool. Offering to pay for work that I asked to be done in the first place... I've had 2 watches repaired which were purchased a a department store. From the minute I stepped in to the time I left I was treated like I owned the place. I did shop for a 30th anniversary watch for my wife and the sales lady gave me all the time I needed, For the selections, I checked the prices from the internet and found WJ's prices were slightly more expensive, but in the process of my search, I found a Bulova that I decided the was the best choice from an online source. My wife and I took the new watch to WJ and without hesitation, a clerk stopped what she was doing and immediately helped with our request that cost $14.00 I consider WJ a quality company and have never felt that I've been taken advantage of. read more

Very impressed! I have just relocated to Augusta, I stopped by Windsor Jewelers to have my watch repaired. My Tag watch had been acting up since I had a new battery installed. Windsor Jewelers is a authorized Tag repair store. I was greeted by Phil. He was great. He said it might need a more pricey repair but suggested we just try a new battery and see it that solves the problem before spending more money. The battery was replaced while I waited! Its only been a day but so far so good. Hopefully it will work properly. If it fails again, I will go back and have the needed repair done. First let me start off by saying this is from my own personal experience at this location. I have made several purchases at this location on Washington road for several female family members of my family. I will admit when I do shop here I'm not dressed in a suit and tie, but I'm dressed semi casual. Example dress pants and collard shirt. I say that because today I was out and I had been taking care of a few things around the house and helping out a friend move some furniture and as we passed by Windsor Jewlers I decided to stop in and pick up a small pandora charm for a Christmas gift. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a nice lady who offered to help me. I told her I was going upstairs where they sell pandora charms and I proceeded to go upstairs. I was helped by a sales clerk and made my selection. Okay this is where things got interesting to me, at least. The total was about $50.00 I pulled out my Wellsfargo Windsor JewlersGem credit card to pay for the purchase and the sales clerk informed me that I would have to spend an additional $150.00 to be able to use that credit card. I was a little taken back and said excuse me ? She informed me tat there is a $200.00 minimum purchase limit that I have to spend in order to use my card. Now keep in mind this card has a credit limit that exceeds several thousands of dollars. I informed her that I had never run into that problem before in the years that I have been using this card. She informed that it has always been that way, as if I was lying to her. So I pulled out my Wellsfargo debit card and paid for my purchase. Keep in mind the credit card that I had attempted to use the first time was also through Wellsfargo. I left the store and the more I thought about I decided to call the store and speak to the store manager. His first name was Michael. I explain to him what had happened and he informed me that the clerk was correct, but that they do make exceptions for "some people" make ofthat what you want. He told me that if I would come back to the store that he would make an exception for me as well. I told Michael that I did not need an exception for a $50.00 dollar purchase. I was just just confused about this new policy since I had never run into it in all the prior years of shopping there. He informed me that Wellsfargo made them fill out to much paperwork to get their money and charged the store a high service fee for taking the card. He then said something that totally shocked me. He stated that he hoped I would continue to shop at the store, but if not have a Merry Christmas in a very sarcastic tone. Keep in mind no one myself included ever got ugly or rude. It was just not the level of service that I had been use to in the past. Was it the way I was dressed, was it just the store trying to get people to spend more money than they had planned on spending. I don't know. I did call the customer service number on the back of the credit card and the representative informed me that they had no minimum purchase limit on the card and that they would definitely be looking into the matter because the retailer is suppose to follow the contractual agreement of terms of service. Will I shop there again in the future ? Right now it's a no. I just really don't feel comfortable shopping some place that could possibly knowingly or unknowingly profiling customers based on how they are dressed. Even if that's not the case at all I still didn't like the feeling that I was being all most forced into spending more money than I wanted to spend. We planned to stop in to this store while in town. I had only been in here once before and it was years ago. My bf and I have been frequenting jewelry stores around Charleston just to look around, and I have to say that our experience at Windsor was the best we've encountered thus far. They were not pretentious (even though there is an armed officer on duty), and this goes a long way in my book. There is one locally owned store in Charleston - that will go unnamed - where two employees stared at me from across the room the entire time I was in the store. Made me feel uncomfortable to say the least. Anyways, back to Windsor. We were immediately greeted by Ryan, and when I told him we were only browsing, he didn't then ignore us. In fact, he offered to clean my jewelry. I wasn't even wearing anything very nice that I would assume a jeweler might think is worth the time to clean/try to attain a customer. This has not happened once in the 6+ stores that we've gone to in Charleston over the past handful of months. Sure, most jewelry stores will usually clean if you ask, but here it was offered up front. Not only did they clean my pieces, they took it upon themselves to have one of the jewelers fix my necklace that had a few kinks in it and tighten the prongs on a ring (with my permission of course). This same necklace has had the kinks in it for a while and no other store has ever offered to fix it. I inquired about a safety chain on a bracelet, and Ryan offered his honest opinion which was not to put one on instead of suggesting a fix for money. While Ryan was looking after my things, he had Phil come help us. Phil was extremely helpful while we looked at rings. He gave my bf great tips on what to look for and explained the grading and cuts of diamonds as well. He indulged my wanting to try on fancy items I wouldn't be able to afford without hesitation or annoyance. Both Phil and Ryan were down to earth and were fantastic gentlemen. The store was upscale, even a bit intimidating, which is not a negative (I wouldn't trust this precious ring to any "slick sam" or "lucky larry"). My intimidation eased quickly, however, upon meeting the dignified staff. I was assisted with deference, not even a slight condescension. Grandmother's ring may have been the hope diamond based on the care and respect shown to it. Could it be true that my inexpensive repair was equally important to the staff as was the Rolex purchase by the person to my left? Yelp should add a six Star dial in order for me to express the impression made, but because there are only five stars, I have instead decided to return and purchase that beautiful necklace that I passed. read more

This is a pretty decent jewelry store. They carry Breitling, Tag Heuer, and Rolex; As well as a large assortment of rings and other things. Keep in mind that this is a pretty serious type of jewelry store though, this isn't Zales. There is an armed guard at the door, and a jeweler will walk you around the moment you step in. My fiancé purchased my engagement ring from Windsor in October 2018 and he proposed to me in November 2018. After having the ring less than a month, one of the stones in the halo fell out. We took it to Windsor to get fixed and the associate explained that they would fix it that time but if it happened any later down the road, i would have to pay for it to be fixed since my fiancé did not purchase a protection plan when he purchased the ring. My fiancé was not offered the $300 protection plan when he bought the ring and he explained that to the associate. The associate stated that the protection plan "is new" and that the associate who sold him the ring must not have been aware of it since it was so new. She then said that she would go see if her manager would let us purchase it at that time even though it typically must be purchased when the jewelry is purchased. We were allowed to purchase the plan while we waited for the diamond to be placed back in my halo. I got my ring back and it looked great in the store under the lights, however when I got home that night, it was (and still is) obvious that the diamond that was but back in the halo does not sit up as high as the rest of the halo. The white gold on the ring has also been turning gold for the past 3 months. I know that some people have skin that will make the rhodium turn faster than others, but it shouldn't be turning gold this soon. I am debating on taking it to another jeweler all together. In the past I've always had great experience at Windsor and received great customer service but not this time. My fiancé and I will likely purchase our bands elsewhere. read more

I am a fan of a competitive marketplace but in this particular market Windsor has a monopoly unfortunately.
