I really hope the corporation takes time to read my review and makes some changes for future…read moreevents. They just had an event, a prom dance, for UPK on Friday. As soon as I arrived, I saw another parent outside waiting with everyone else to come inside, but she looked upset. I asked her what had happened since she looked sad, and I was told that the director told the UPK teacher to tell her in Spanish that her other son wasn't allowed to come inside since it was only for the students and parents. However, since her husband was not home yet, she brought her other son with her to the event, but they told her that only the current student and parents were supposed to come. As she was telling me, she started crying, and I told her that I would ask them too since I also had my daughter with me since my husband was not home yet. Our kids are only 6 years old and cannot stay home by themselves or in the car. Then I approached one the assistants, since she was the one letting everyone in. I said, 'Hi, I was told by another parent that we are not allowed to come in with our children?' And she replied, without looking at me, 'Yes, that's why we sent an email about no extra guests since there is no space.' I told her I understand, but I mean, since my husband couldn't come, my daughter can take his place, right? She stated that they notified the parents ahead of time and just repeated again what she had already said. Unfortunately, I had to leave since my daughter was not welcomed, and my son was crying, not understanding why he couldn't come inside with his sister. I felt terrible as a mom, not being able to do anything. I understand what they said, but if they want to keep these celebrations, they should do better planning, either rent a tent to put it outside so both parents and siblings can assist, or have the parents notified that the additional child will be there, and even if we have to pay for them to assist to the event. As a mother, I thought to myself, what if it's a single mom or dad and they don't have anyone to leave their other kid with? Why does my child have to miss this experience due to poor organization of the event? It almost feels like they are excluding families. I was told by other parents that three families ignored what they were told and still went inside. I wonder if that's what they wanted me to do too?
