On our first year moving here from the city, we were always looking for places to go and things to…read moredo. We would travel several hours away from here just to make the most out of a free weekend. One autumn day, our neighbor told us about his recent trip to Bonesteel's and how they had different activities for the whole family. The farm was just about 10 minutes away from us. I don't know why it took us 2 years to finally check it out. We had a blast! Apparently, they have an annual Fall Festival. Of course, everything autumn sets the mood--cornucopias filled with different gourds; pumpkins of different shapes, textures and orange hues; multi-colored Indian corn; apples and fallen leaves all around. But, the farm goes all out in celebrating the season. They have daily hay rides, which a lot of schools take advantage of and use as a class field trip. It's $3 a person with unlimited free popcorn during the ride. Bruce Bonesteel operates the tractor that pulls the huge, covered wagon, where passengers sit across each other. When there is an overflow, Mr. Bonesteel throws in a few bales of hay to serve as seating. Nothing like ridin' dirty! The ride is bumpy so everyone has to hold on to what they can. The whole of it is an educational trip through the farm, with Mr. Bonesteel explaining everything you could possibly see along the way-- the trees, the bees, the crops. And toward the end, he stops the tractor and everybody disembarks to go through the corn maze. There are special instructions though and when everyone has returned from the grounds, Mr. Bonesteel makes an important teaching. I wanted an A so I listened well. Back in the main building, there're activities galore-- apple-pie baking contest, arts & crafts, food, inflatables for the kids... Talk about local fun! We do have to go back here during the other seasons. I am looking forward to the blossoming of the flowers and the arrival of the butterflies in their butterfly-shaped garden. If we owned a house right now, I'd hire them to landscape my garden! They are very, very knowledgeable people in their discipline.

I didn't spend much time with the rocks and sod, although my friend got a couple big flagstones for her patio and she was super happy with the price, quality, etc. I did spend a ton of time in the greenhouse full of vegetable seedlings and got everything to plant my garden this year. I wasn't planning to, but they had everything I could have hoped for and the prices were right so tadah. The seedlings are super affordable, there are tons of varieties and everything is clearly documented so you can figure out what plants will go well together and how to care for them. There is staff everywhere and they are busy but super helpful and friendly. Even packed on the weekend lines moved super quickly, I was super impressed. When we arrived the crowds made me nervous feeling like we'd be tangled up forever but the staff's efficiency and calm kept everything moving smooth and chill. I loved my experience here, and my lovely plants are all in the garden now and looking so happy, I'll be back next year for my veggies for sure, and maybe sooner if I get my act together for a balcony garden!

Under their vast green houses, they have the more "delicate" flowers, grasses, tropical plants, water lilies and...What is a bunch of cactus? Cactis? Cactuses? Aouches?! Outside, you have the trees, the more sturdy stuff like rocks, branches and barrels. The item outside are already acclimated to the full blown Laurentides climate. This place is H-U-G-E, all the staff knows their stuff or know exactly who have the right Intel to guide you. They are also very courteous and will help you with all your request and questions even when the place is jam packed like a sunny Saturday. The staff is smiling and giving you a great service. The variety are also amazing! I found crystal cucumber, which is a white/translucent version of the lemon cucumber I already grow at my house. They have their basics, they have the newest stuff. You better have good shoes and a water bottle because don't expect seeing everything under an hour tour!

Fruits & other stuff: I find theyre a little bit overpriced and its possible they don't grow it at their farm but everything seemed very fresh The have a whole lot of plants and gardening stuff outside as well. Service: Was a bit rude and the cashiers didn't seem like they wanted to be there .. they were very hostile :/ However, their products are great quality at very competitive prices so it's definitely worth the drive if you're in the area if you don't mind being serviced by rude cashiers lol
