Horner Roofing & Siding - New Roof all the way around

    Horner Roofing & Siding

Our experience with Horner Roofing exceeded our expectations from start to finish…read more As out-of-state property investors, we needed a new fascia and soffit installed on a single family home that was already occupied by tenants in South Bend. This was a project we were hoping to hold off on until a few months later, but ended up needing to be done sooner. Because of this, we were unable to be there in person to meet with contractors. I ended up calling 7 roofing companies to go out to the property and get quotes. Jett Gillis went out the next day and was able to get me a quote very quickly. Every other company I called either told me that they were too busy to give us a quote, completely failed showed up to the appointment, quoted us much higher, or gave me a bit of an unpleasant attitude. I even had to explain to one highly-rated company what a soffit was not once, not twice, but three times! (A soffit is the underside of the roof.) Horner Roofing is the only company that checked every box. They were: - professional - communicative - friendly - reasonably priced. Because of our work, I have communicated and done business with countless companies in various realms of home improvement. Jett has been by far the most wonderful contractor I have worked with in every way. Calls to and from the Horner Roofing office with Susan were always an absolute pleasure. If you are looking for a roofing, siding or gutter company, you need't look any further than Horner Roofing.

I would use Horner Roofing again. They were very honest and helpful…read more I love my roof!

I wouldn't even give him a single star.. He lies steals & haggles you for every penny you will let…read morehim take. Lies: about how many workers he has (not 4) try 1.5 when he decides to show up, states licensed professionals are hired to do plumbing then rakes up bill and does it himself (his only worker told me so), doesn't start on time, doesn't review what he is doing just picks stuff & makes you pay the difference. Hires electrician to do work not on contract, then demands you pay it without asking prior to do a change of order or addition to expense. I think not.. (my son is a electrician) Expects all money or more than 75% before half way done only to walk out on project taking cabinets you paid the difference for delivered to his own address so he can return them & leave you high and dry when he plans a argument, cussing you and his worker out when confronted about the fraud plumbing job. His contract isn't a contract just the beginning mark up on what he can steal from you. He has two others women suing him (look it up) & is a felon & thief. He doesn't work well with others & is a master con artist and double charges ya by making his descriptions so you don't understand the details. States he has been in business 33yrs but if you look up his business it's only 7yrs old. Do NOT hire or trust this man. He will take all your money & start but not finish a single job. His one worker will be the only person showing up & then you get to hear him cuss, belittle & demean him daily. It was awful & it's no wonder he doesn't have workers. He is the worst & is highly rated on BBB but if you ask me it has to be all fake when he has a rap sheet with ppl suing him & doing unlicensed work like he does. He offered me Xanax when paying him the first day, guess that should have been the red flag that this guy was not what he said he was.. took my money and walked.. smh don't be fooled & let the same thing happened to you. call me if you want to know more 5744858802 I will be suing as well-Shannon Howse

Brett Reighard came to our home this morning and made a very convincing sales presentation. We…read moreespecially liked the way he addressed our concerns and covered all aspects of a major purchase. Mr. Reighard sold us on the quality and beauty of the door we were considering and although I had not planned to make a purchase today we did buy the Pella door. We are replacing a Pella door that has seen 30 years of hard use. The price was almost half of what I was quoted by a major competitor we think it's an outstanding value.

I am not a person who normally complains a lot, but our experience with Pella was infuriating…read more They sold us 5 new windows and aluminum wrap on those and 3 existing windows. The installers were nice, but they did an incredibly shoddy job on the wrap, with pieces buckling and hanging long past the edges and/or partially split. Each of the 8 wraps had issues, many had multiple issues, and some were large enough that you could see it from a significant distance. We pointed it out to the sub and they tried to claim it was supposed to be like that and would let the water run off, which even if it was true wouldn't make sense since they had a couple that didn't stick out on one side! We are getting our siding done and the measurer for that project happened to come the next day and confirmed it was poorly done and would prevent them from installing the new J channels flush to the windows. The person I spoke to at Pella later and the person the subcontract managing the install both saw pictures and at least acknowledged it was badly done. The Pella measurer did a lead test and told me it was negative. I thought that was surprising since our house was built in 1941, and told him so, but figured it was possible. When the sub came to do the install they had a positive test and said they would do lead safe practices, but that didn't happen - they did nothing to contain the risk of dust entering the inside of our house - no plastic, but they later lied and claimed they did to Pella. They even told Pella that they put up a lead hazard sign, which is also a total lie and was easy enough for us to get confirmation from our neighbors, other contractors doing separate work on our house, and my own eyes, as I was present for some of the work. The measurer also did a poor job as they had to add stops on some of the windows to plug the gaps in the difference in the size from the order. Pella originally sold us new basement windows only for the measurer to come out later and say the salesperson never should have sold us them and installation wasn't possible. So we had to redo that contract and find a new company to do the basement windows. We went with Pella, knowing we were paying more than we would with other contractors who even install Pella windows themselves, because we expected quality service. I got a call from the person whom Pella subcontracts managing the install and she was nice but wanted to have the same subcontractor come out to redo the work. I was hesitant given the initial shoddy quality but agreed. I asked about the lead and she explained that wasn't her area but said she would have a manager at Pella call me (I guess they weren't going to?). I got a call from Mike Nelson at Pella, who never apologized and just said they would make it right by having the people come out to redo it. When I asked about the lead he said the installers indicated they followed lead safe practices, including putting up plastic and a lead hazard sign. At that point I got upset because I knew it was a bold faced lie. I just want my money back on the wraps and get someone else to do the work because I do not trust those subcontractors. Supposedly I will hear back by the end of the next business day from someone else about refunds (I was told I was not allowed to have their number myself) but my experience so far indicates Pella will refuse to take responsibility.
