Incense oils? Some ambient world music to have on in the background at dinner parties? (My goodness, those thirties are fast approaching...) A handbag? A lantern? Well, Equinox has the lot. And its New Year sale is one to be cherished and savoured. Perfectly located in central Tenby, it's one of those shops that makes Tenby feel like a unique little collection of local businesses as opposed to a tourist trap. Downstairs you'll find homeware, books and therapies galore, some of which are quite New Age and hippy-esque. Upstairs are the clothes - boutique standard, beautiful and individual. I came shopping here with mothers of myself and my other half and they found me a heck of a little party dress which I bought for myself as a New Year gift. Half price, and while the other sizes had been snapped up this little XS number had been left on its own due to being an unusually narrow size. Step in beanpole. It was mine. All mine! Now I can return to Manchester happy in the knowledge that no one else has this piece. Unless I randomly bump into a one-time visitor of Equinox in Tenby that also lives in my fair city. Anyway, it rules. I'd highly recommend it, and while the prices might not always be wallet-friendly, the staff are fabulous and if you catch the New Year sales you shan't be disappointed. The stock of Equinox is really wide ranging - and is all excellent quality. The range includes clothes, homeware, interior decorations (I got some super cute cushions recently), Jewellery, Cards and other bits and pieces. There really is something for everyone in here - Prices aren't cheap, but as the items are unique and high quality you won't regret splashing out if you see something that you fancy. A real highlight to any Tenby shopping trip - the isolation of Pembrokeshire seems to make the boutiques top notch!

The sis-in-law and I spotted the ultimate summer flowery dress here, it was timeless in style, like a little floaty prom type thing with a pattern worthy of Cath Kidston. Since we both spotted it, neither of us decided to take the plunge and try it, but goodness was it gorgeous. Here you'll find all sorts of little creative items such as purses, bags, clothing and a variety of accessories including jewellery. It's unique and it all looks home-made, sourced from independent designers. As well as this you can get some great goodies from the likes of Crabtree and Evelyn and it's as close as you can get to the main car park, thus it's always our first port of call when we're visiting the area. Definitely worth a few looks.

There is a clothing section upstairs, along with a selection of designer handbags, whilst downstairs they have some unusual gifts for children, along with toiletries such as Crabtree & Evelyn. It's ideal for picking up stocking fillers too. Given its close proximity to the main car park, it's usually my first port of call when I visit Narberth, but it's also really handy for an emergency dash to find a last minute present that you can be proud of!

Everything is tastefully laid out and very eye-catching and really you need a lot of time to look round properly. There's a great range of Welsh-themed gifts; toys for children of all ages, plastic things for the seaside - colourful beachballs, buckets and spades and more; hats, model cars and lovely framed pictures. I also noticed that they sell 'golliwogs' of many kinds (toys large and small) which you don't see much anymore. Something for every budget, from picture postcards and keyrings to excellent quality china ornaments. The lady who was working in there when I went in to browse three days ago was delightful - very helpful and friendly. Probably the only gift shop you need to visit when in Tenby - altogether, an easy 5 star!

The 'art…read moregallery' specialises in prints and pictures from many local Pembrokeshire photographers and artists, but it also has a vast range of Welsh and Celtic gifts, jewellery and crafts. It's a celebration of all things Welsh, and now even has a new delicatessen which serves Welsh food and drinks. For holidaymakers, this a perfect place to immerse yourself in a tribute to local craftsmanship, but in keeping with it's name, there are also plenty of 'sheep-based' toys and presents, and you could also pick up a lovespoon or two as a reminder of your trip!

Next Door is a delightful florists on the High Street. There is always a beautiful display of…read moreflowers, pot plants, ornaments, etc in the window. The smell in the shop is just amazing! The shop is much more than just a florists though because they also sell a wide range of plants in the alley way which runs down the side of the shop. In the winter they sell lovely Christmas trees, with many varieties having non-drop needles. I often pop in here to buy cellophane by the meter for the perfect finishing touch for my gifts. Next Door also offer bridal flowers, floral tributes, beautiful bouquets etc. You can also order your flowers by Interflora.

A really nice shop to find beautiful greetings cards quite a bit cheaper than in the larger shops…read more(like Clinton and WH Smiths). Most of the cards have the price on the backs (a small label) which is so much better than having to look for a letter code and then match it to a chart, as you now need to do almost everywhere else. Everything is categorised and labelled well so it's easy to find what you're looking for. There's plenty of wrapping paper, boxes, balloons, local postcards and small gifts too - and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Definitely recommended!
