I got to an understanding that I had to try, listen and see what was being offered to me there. Only until I got out of my head was I able to see the beautiful truth: how the staff was deeply caring, but stern. How the rules were there to keep myself and the others on track. And how the schedule was expertly crafted to offer me every opportunity to learn and grow. The creme de la creme of the place, although, are the counselors. They are truly some of the most caring and empathic people I was surprised existed. You are assigned a primary counselor, but many are available and willing to listen. Which is great because it really helps when you find one that has a style you can identify with. There are 3 counselors in particular that stand out in my mind. A Barbarian, Bard, and a Sorceress (I'm a bit of a geek) that are willing to use their talents to help you get to the next paige of your life. This place is magic and I thank the stars it found me. That seems to be the general feeling of the place- grossly understaffed. My grandmother has been complaining about the fact that she hits the button that calls the nurses, and nobody shows up for five hours. Five Hours. They haven't been able to deliver her prescribed pain medications, because the facility has been out for days. Days. How does a medical facility run out of medicine?! The management here is largely absent. It's taken days to get to see a doctor. Days! This place is completely inept. Don't send your loved ones here. The one guy on duty doesn't have nearly enough time to get to see them. Beware!

My surgery had been scheduled for 2 weeks after this event, so my family was very concerned that I have someone with me for at least 2-3 days after my discharge. A friend of my daughters gave her a great review of HOME HELPERS-HOME CARE. She talked to the owner, Rachel Fisher, who covered our city in Tx. We made the decision to have them come and help me for 2-3 days. They were very compassionate and efficient. After being here for 2 days and nights, I felt like we were old friends. They gave me the confidence and encouragement to make my surgery a great success. Not only did they attend to my personal needs, there was companionship, my house was kept tidy, helped with meals, washed all the dishes, and did the laundry. They took care of things they did not want me to worry about. As my strength increased we went out for short trips. I even bought a new mattress and finally got my hair cut. They created a safe transion from Hospital to home. They assured me that I could call even after my complete recovery if I needed their help.
