The suet puddings and pies cover some interesting flavours, the Christmas one containing ham, chicken and turkey was especially good. There is a good beer garden out the back, just don't let your kids damage the fence with a soccer ball and the Publican will be happy enough! In winter there is a fire and the parking is generally good. It's an odd location nestled between the river and a petrol station but definitely worth a visit.

The staff are just lovely, each of them is friendly and will have a joke with you, regardless of whether you are a regular or not. Prices are standard for drinks. Food though, this is where the place shines. although certainly not cheap, the quality is just brilliant, all food is cooked to a brilliant standard, and the variety of the menu is stunning considering the size of the establishment. A really brilliant choice if you are looking for a good meal, i'm consistently impressed when i go there. Also has an outdoor beer garden, which is nice in the summer, but nothing special and certainly not a feature i would say is outstanding. Overall, it's a lovely pub, with brilliant service, but the food is what makes it stand out above anywhere else in Plymouth.

An interesting crowd gather around the dartboard and pool table! The toilets are pretty grim (like many pubs) and it's tough to park on the sloping car park. It's not a central pub, so only really worth visiting if it's in your area.

We just had a huge lunch and weren't feeling super hungry, so we had some drinks, a cocktail and a beer. While walking around, I noticed the food portions appeared generous, and there many interesting things on the menu like scallops, prawns, and also steak pie. We decided to have the mussels which thought were a fantastic choice. We made sure we had some other sides like pita with taramasalata which was great, and garlic bread (so good) along with also the tomato, halloumi, beet salad (okay-just the beets needed some more flavor-maybe oil & vinegar). The music were all pop songs that I listened to growing up. I think there was a trivia night going on when we are about to leave. The wall were decorative with frames and birdhouses with European robins on the wall. Very cute!

Despite having other places to go I ended up staying for 3 good pints, of which the best was the Harvest Moon Ale from Saltaire. I could see why the pub has been the local pub of the year for 3 years now. I enjoyed a bit of joshing banter with the group at the bar, each time I went up for a refill. The music was pretty good too. The only drawback for me is its location on Mutley Plain. I'd love to relocate it to the Barbican!
