When I went back for a last time before leaving the next morning there must have been an opera letting out nearby, because the place was thronged with well-dressed 60-somethings ordering enough tropical cocktails to sink Tahiti. The bartender was this sassy gal from Munich I think she said, & she was clearly putting in the paces to keep up, but when it all died down us survivors had some shots of kümmel & I walked off into the nite feeling pretty dang fine. The drink selection is very good and the ambiance is very nice. My only complaint was the level of service I received. It was myself and two other tourists there, and the waiter was too busy entertaining his friends and checking on others that he completely ignored us. We attempted to get his attention on several occasions to get our bill because we had to leave, and from the time we initially got his attention to the time we paid our bill and left, was approximately 20 minutes. I prefer wine, but must admit cocktails are good as well. The name M&V goes back to the historic Hamburg distillery "Mulzer&Voelkel" established in 1924. M&V is on the Hamburg List of Gay Bars. Located on lively "Lange Reihe" it has been open to everyone since 1953. Some visitors complain it looks more like a Hetero bar nowadays. I am not the one too judge, as I never witnessed the glory of the place in 60s. I like how it is now with all the friendly locals, an admirable place of tolerance.

There are 3 screens available and on champions league nights with simultaneous games on, it is quite awesome. 30 mins in and I've been standing the whole time, I start to feel the hate part of the relationship. The bar is frequently visited by loads of english speakers. You will her more english than german whilst here. My tips are to probably get in early and get a table if game day. Drink wise, you've got your standard irish drinks and a paddys ale is always available which is quite good. Also available are nut and pizza is available for purchase. I am yet to try the pizza but do you really want to eat pizza at a bar?
