Had a chance to visit this bar while I was in Hamburg. It is a very nice looking bar about a 5 minute walk from Hamburg Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and features outdoor seating. The drink selection is very good and the ambiance is very nice. My only complaint was the level of service I received. It was myself and two other tourists there, and the waiter was too busy entertaining his friends and checking on others that he completely ignored us. We attempted to get his attention on several occasions to get our bill because we had to leave, and from the time we initially got his attention to the time we paid our bill and left, was approximately 20 minutes. I come here Fridays to chill after work. M&V has great music, very helpful staff and cosy interior. Smoking is outside. A large bar with a sophisticated choice of drinks is great. I prefer wine, but must admit cocktails are good as well. The name M&V goes back to the historic Hamburg distillery "Mulzer&Voelkel" established in 1924. M&V is on the Hamburg List of Gay Bars. Located on lively "Lange Reihe" it has been open to everyone since 1953. Some visitors complain it looks more like a Hetero bar nowadays. I am not the one too judge, as I never witnessed the glory of the place in 60s. I like how it is now with all the friendly locals, an admirable place of tolerance. read more

If you let go of the expectations of the stereotypical gay club mirage, this place is awesome. It's a low key bar with servers who might or might not be gay with patrons who may or may not be gay. Drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. Attentive bartenders and quick servers. read more

I was really happy to stop in that place after going around different gay bars in my first night in Hamburg. The place looks like an old US dinner but darker and surrounded by cool people. The place has plenty room, great drinks, few snacks like chips, great service and an amazing art vibe not only with the drink menu design but also wit the pictures posted and decoration of the whole place. The lounge music gives you a great vibe. Chocolate negroni, a very tasty twist of a well known Italian drink. You have to go to this place. read more

Nice bar! It's a good vibe and kinda relaxing. It's a meeting spot for groups of friends, it's set up with lots of booths to have a nice conversation. The drinks are good and the waiters are quick and efficient. There's some outdoor area for nice summer nights. read more
