As a mom, and as someone who has worked in child development for over 15 years, including nearly five years at Bing Nursery School at Stanford, where the most advanced, research-based approaches to early childhood development are practiced. I recognize excellence when I see it. Maria and Joana truly embody that same philosophy. Their approach is warm, affectionate, and thoughtfully child-centered. The environment is relaxed and nurturing, far from a rigid or overly structured setting. They beautifully incorporate Montessori principles along with the Bing philosophy that "playing is serious work." The children are constantly engaged in creative, hands-on learning, with plenty of STEM-based activities throughout the day. What also stands out is the level of communication and transparency. They share pictures and videos all day long, allowing parents to feel connected and reassured. It's clear the children are thriving. The meals are another highlight: incredibly healthy, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. My daughter, who used to struggle with food, is now excited to eat! The children sit together at a pleasant table and enjoy a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins everything is nutritious, creative, and appealing. Most importantly, the care they give is truly above and beyond. Every child feels seen, loved, and valued. My daughter literally counts the minutes to go back to her "Little Star family"and sometimes even cries when it's time to leave because she wants to keep playing. That says everything. We've seen such beautiful growth in her cognitive and emotional development in a short time. As parents, we couldn't feel more at peace or more grateful. If you have the opportunity, choose Little Star for your child. It is a truly special place.

I wrote a review and added it to Yelp/Google. Way to make it sound like it's my life's mission to take them down by any means necessary. Thanks for the laughable attempt to gaslight me yet again. And how interesting that hours after I post my review, 2 people who list their location as SJ and Fremont, with only reviews for those areas, post reviews raving not just about GK, but specifically the owners? BLATANT LIARS. The trend you will see from the owners here is that they will deny issues, lie about what happened, lie about rectifying issues, but ultimately do absolutely nothing to address any problems. Screen-time: I have never heard of a daycare that utilizes screen time. That should have been the first red flag. I see another review here that calls them out on it and someone from Genius Kids lies (they do that a lot) and denies it flat-out. The Genius Kids Brochure lists that screen time is used (Picture attached), but it says that only Little Einstein Videos are shown, and that screen-time does not start until 5 pm, which we didn't think would matter since we pick-up before then, but I picked my son up at 4:30 one day and found the children sitting and watching Baby Shark on a tv. I emailed the owner and explained that my son has extremely limited screen-time, and when he does get screen-time he only gets educational and low-stimulating shows like Daniel Tiger, Peppa Pig, or Miss Rachel. I pointed out that screen time was not supposed to start until 5 pm and she assured me she would talk to staff, but it continued to happen consistently and her response was simply "Tell me if it happens again," and nothing would change. My son came home singing Cocomelon songs and talking about cartoons we have never even heard of and absolutely would not approve of. The children were watching YouTube videos when we picked him up between the hours of 4:00 and 4:30 pm more times than I can count. Please talk to other parents whose kids have gone here and they can confirm the children watching mindless youtube videos before 5 pm. Daycare costs way too much to have them just plop our children down in front of a screen and rot their brain. Toileting: One day we picked our son up and noticed he had been left in the pull-up he wears at nap-time (it had been several hours since nap and no one had noticed it or taken it off). We let it slide, but another day we were told our son had an accident. I sent a message asking for more information because it was concerning to have an accident after so long without one, and I got a message that it happened before nap-time. However, mixed in with his wet clothes was a wet school bedsheet, which lead me to understand that he didn't have an accident before nap, the staff forgot to put him in a pull-up for nap-time and he peed while sleeping, resulting in a wet sheet and clothes and then LIED ABOUT IT. Sunblock: One day my son came home clearly sunburned. Genius Kids requires all children to be sent to daycare with sunblock because they claim to put sunblock on children before outdoor time every day. The next day at drop-off, my husband talked to the owner and pointed out that our son was sunburned. The owner told him that we should put sunblock on him before we drop him off. Sunblock does not last all day! It needs to be reapplied every 2 hours AND immediately before being outside, which is why we assume they require children to provide their own sunblock in the first place. Refusing to take accountability and trying to shift blame onto us was appalling. Any one of these issues would be cause for serious concern, but shockingly, this isn't even close to all of the troubling incidents we experienced at Genius Kids (consistently spelling his name wrong on all of his work, when they were supposed to be teaching him to recognize and spell his super common and easy to spell name). The site is clearly understaffed and the staff they have seriously lack proper training. I refuse to allow Genius Kids to hinder my son's development, neglect, or mistreat him and I would encourage any parent to steer clear of this place. Also, please check out their insane list of violations on the department of social services website. I wish I had seen all these before sending my son there: https://www.ccld.dss.ca.gov/carefacilitysearch/FacDetail/434413902 Facility Number: 434413902

Yesterday was our daughter Presley's first day and i dropped her off in tears because it was very difficult for me to let her go with new people and the ladies here were so comforting and calm in dealing with my situation. They totally understood and let me have my space until i was ready. Throughout the day they sent me pictures and updates on their app which was so helpful and awesome. The teacher is so caring and supportive to the little ones creating a positive space for their little brains to work out their own problems. Our daughter is getting more and more independent everyday at a natural pace within her ability. She helps a little and watches them try on their own which is better than just having things down for them. She helped with potty training, writing, reading, eating with utensils, taking turns, and so much more. Nicole also helped our family when we needed flexibility with scheduling as our daughter needed to take outside classes. It's not a service it's more like a little home where the kids naturally learn but still have time for relaxing and an occasional dance party. It's fairly priced but for our family it is priceless. If you're lucky enough to get an opportunity (there's only about 6 max slots available) I would take it!

We transferred to The Sandlot from a childcare center. I felt like an in-home childcare was more our style. The attention my son was getting at the center was not very warm or individualized. My son can be very testy, defiant and difficult at times. When he was first starting, I remember being worried and thinking to myself, "Are they ready for this kid? Can they handle him at his worst?" I'm so grateful we found this school because I know without a doubt that this is the safest and healthiest environment for him to learn, grow and thrive. They have become his second family and he loves going to school. I love how hands on and how communicative they are. We would have kept her there but she would have had to change classrooms and teachers every year and my daughter is too shy for that to be a successful program for us. After touring a few daycares (facility and homes based), we came upon The Sandlot. I called and spoke with the owner Lori who explained her care is actually a home based preschool program. We were invited to visit and observe, to see if it was the right program for us and to see if my daughter was a good fit for her program. We had a great feeling about it and decided to try it out. SO HAPPY WE DID! Our daughter has been with Lori for over a year now and she has really blossomed! The small (12 children), tight knit learning environment that Lori has established is really incredible! My daughter has been able to make close friends, build her social skills, learn things (like her letters and sounds by 3 1/2yo!), experiment, play, and grow! Lori implements rules that encourage respect, good morals and values, and a general safe and fun place to learn and play. We appreciate the constant communication, and respect Loris suggestions for helping the kids overcome any behavioral issues. My daughter works on art projects all the time, and they are always doing some sort of unique and creative learning activity. Lori has 2-3 assistants who are equally amazing with the kids! When we visit for parties and see the interaction between all teachers and the children, it further solidifies our trust in Lori and her program! Thank you Lori for caring so much about our kids!
