Sinks Canyon is so named because of a rushing river that flows out of the mountains and through the canyon. Halfway down, the river turns (sinks) into a cavern and runs underground for 1/4 mile where it emerges in a pool called "The Rise". In the Rise there are Rainbow and Brown trout; the larger ones may weigh up to 12 lbs, but NO FISHING! For a quarter you can buy fish food to feed the fish, which is fun for everyone. A must-do if you are in the area! Also check out the Visitor Center. It is small, but is one of the best I've seen, and I've seen many. The wildlife is well displayed; and I loved the wildflower displays. The geologic rocks outside the visitor center are also A+. Well done, absolutely 5 stars.

Wow. This is the…read moregateway to the granite castles, spires, and fangs known as the "Wind River Range". They are so inspiring that they are the reason the company "Patagonia" exists. (why Yvon didn't name the company "Wind River", I guess we'll never know) The area offers world-class rock climbing, hiking, scrambling, and fishing. (not sure if the fishing is world class, I'm an idiot when it comes to fishing!) Just getting to the trailhead is a journey. It sits at such high elevation that, unless you live nearby, just walking on flat ground will wear you out. Carry on though, the views are worth it, I promise!

The meals were all delicious and the sack lunches were huge! The horses are well cared for and the property is clean and well maintained. We took an all day horse back ride to go fishing and caught plenty. The lake by the lodge has plenty of fish and kept our grandsons entertained. If you haven't been here you are missing a great time and adventure. We will be back!

We wussed out on the doing the 50 classic route :( We climbed the South Butress which is a 3-4 pitch 5.6 route, with a nice 5.8 crack variation. We went for the crack and were glad we did, it eats up pro! Awesome views of Wolf's Head and the surrounding towers from the summit. Pretty straight-forward raps down.

I, having an illness and a service dog, couldn't use the facilities but said I would sit in the lobby and wait. I was then told I would also have to pay the daily fee just to sit there. I couldn't believe it. I had gone there that morning to check it out and the counter staff was so rude, never smiled, and seemed so angry that I would ask questions and want to use their place. This lack of service continued when we went this afternoon. I was looked at askance and impolitely questioned about my service dog and then told I couldn't sit and wait for 30 minutes. For a town mostly dependent on tourism these people and their rules are designed to keep people away and have left a very bad impression about the whole town.
