I arrived late in the evening due to a long journey and it was no bother for the landlady who was 110% welcoming and friendly. She is a bubbly lady who loves a chat. Her husband seems to run the dairy farm and he is a pleasant and friendly man too. I was made to feel totally at home. The accommodation is a converted barn and the rooms are wonderful and olde worldy. The breakfast was a total delight. I couldn't rate this place highly enough.

Harts Lane is so narrow, my partner hesitated pulling our car into the lane and then really had second thoughts about pulling into the tiny parking area. I was too busy loving everything I could see to care about that! Then, we walked into the bed and breakfast, where an out-of-breath Linda Smith greeted us warmly and apologized for not being ready. We didn't mind. After all, there were TWO pubs in one TINY village! ;) When we returned from our obligatory pub visit, Linda led us upstairs and to our room. Do you know how sometimes places look clean but don't smell clean? This clean room smelled GREAT! Then, I went into the bathroom. It was completely remodeled and very modern. I was in heaven! A quaint, clean bedroom with a clean modern shower! There was even a place for me to sit down in the bedroom and put on my makeup. I decided to use it for sitting down and reading a daily devotional, but just having this wonderful space was a plus. Did I mention there was a fireplace? The next morning, Linda cooked us "whatever we wanted." My partner happily ordered sausage and eggs, and I ordered bacon and eggs. While we waited, I looked around the family dining room. There were wonderful family pictures--Linda and Ian Smith's wedding pictures, their children, etc. My partner meanwhile marveled at his freshly squeezed orange juice and some of the woodwork in the room. Then, the food came. The bacon was the size of 4 American slices stuck together but a lot thicker. Everything was delicious, but after we ate, we felt like we needed a nap! If you go to this area of England, stay here! The Smiths are very congenial people, their accommodations are clean, their food is outstanding, and the village is picturesque. You'll swear you're in a movie.

The farmhouse itself is lovely, very warm, clean and comfortable and Charmaine and Chris couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly and breakfast was fresh and plentiful. I would love an excuse to stay there again. The only thing I would say to anyone planning to stay here is that you probably need to use a GPS unit to find it: it is right at the end of a very twisting single-track road but my old unit found it from the postcode without any problem.

Contemporary Regency decor for a sense of grandeur, Molton Brown amenities, heated towel racks, Hypnos luxury bedding, the best Eggs Benedict we had on our trip, organic cereals, a wide selection of premium Tiptree jams and curds, homemade fruit compote, perfectly fried bacon and sausages, gorgeous presentation, full French presses of excellent coffee, attentive service, organic peanut butter, different yogurts, plenty of fruit ... this place was a dream. Every square inch was spotless, and a private car park made it worth the safe and scenic 5-minute downhill walk to the town center. When we arrived at the 139 in Bath, we were shown to the waiting room and served a nice beverage. The host knew exactly who we were and addressed us by name. We felt welcomed. The room was comfortable and beautiful- very classic in look. We had a great sleep on the bed, like I mentioned- comfortable room! Squeamish skip this paragraph... When I arrived in Bath I was deep into my trip and short on socks. The sock bag in my suitcase had reached critical mass and was going to be a new kind of 'Dirty Bomb'. When asked if the 139 had a washer and dryer, they said of course. They braved the bag. I got my socks back the next morning, folded. Thanks! Breakfast the next morning was wonderful- fresh eggs, great bacon, crunchy and chewy bread (ok so I'm not a food writer). Lots more options than a traditional eggs and bacon breakfast were available. Thanks 139 for a wonderful experience. It's been a couple years since we stayed, but the memory is fresh in my mind.

Great location in historical house by Pulteney Bridge…read more We stayed in a suite for a couple nights. The suite had two bedrooms, which was nice for a family, but being a Georgian house, there were quirks. The floors were very uneven, to the point that I would feel vertiginous walking around. The bathroom had uneven water pressure where the temperature fluctuated wildly, and there was not enough counter space for 4 people. There was a nice sitting room but definitely not enough closet space. However, the location is so lovely. It's about a block from the Pulteney Bridge and also a block from a full sized Waitrose. It's a short walk to the train station, Bath Abbey, and the Roman Baths. Staff is friendly and generally competent. The front desk staff was a little confused and slow, and, while the rooms were generally clean, I don't advise that guests look under the beds or behind the furniture, as those are very dusty (ick). I love that they leave biscuits to go with tea daily and that they actually replenish everything on a daily basis. Those biscuits were life savers for my jetlagged children whose stomachs were not yet on UK time. I contacted the hotel a couple times before we arrived. They were not able to help with arranging for a babysitter (they told me to Google "Bath" and "babysitter"), but they did give me good information about a wheelchair rental for my husband. I would consider returning here on a future visit.

No room for their luggage. Not even enough room in the bathroom to use the toilet. Poor lighting as well. Our room was not clean, light bulbs were out, used bottles of shampoo, no body wash, caps on the shower floor, refrigerator not working and there was no air circulation. I had to wear shoes around the room after I saw what my socks looked like after walking on the floor with only socks. We were better off sleeping in the hall. They must have problems with that room, because there was already a portable fan in the room, which it merely moved warm air around. There was no proper walkway for a normal person to get to the bureau, which also had coffee on it never mind someone who has a disability or a wheelchair. Plenty of lighting in our room, though, even with missing bulbs! Breakfast food was ok. It was too complicated to sit at or around the bar in the evening. Two different buildings, too. One building had many rooms, bar, checkin, breakfast, etc, but there was a completely different building that was close, but not close enough to be convenient when you need ice or talk to staff when need something for the room. The wifi is absolutely horrible in the 2nd building. It never worked. Needed to use data or stand by the door to the room to get a bar of wifi. The main building had no issues with the wifi. If you are traveling with someone and need separate beds, DO NOT stay here. They'll give you a cot for the 2nd person to sleep on. They do have good security with the front doors, but that's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. They only offer breakfast. No other food during any other time of the day. Radisson needs to get their act together. I very strongly do NOT recommend staying here.
