These days its does feel a bit isolated in the sense that its in the middle of nowhere (without nothing around it anyways) but this has long been one of the most popular carparks for those coming to Central. You might not know it but this building was actually built in the 60s along with the structures around it like the City hall and if you look carefully it bears the hallmark for post war design (just like the City Hall). Compared to modern carparks the parking spaces are a little tight here as they were designed before the days we all started jumping into SUVs. The roof of this carpark is also sight to behold- this is the best place to truly appreciate how far Hong Kong has come in becoming an international financial heart- you will be able to see all the buildings in Central surrounding you like a canyon and many films, magazines have shot scenes from here. In a sign that its moving on with modern trends, a number of spaces on the G/F are now fitted with plugs for electric vehicles- that's something they certainly would not have thought of back in the 1960s. The parking fees here are steep though they are still the cheapest in Central- that means I will still park here as long as they don't tear it down.

Made famous by Instagram, this popular photo spot is busy throughout the day where people come and go to take photos. The place is somewhat hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for as it is located on top of a car park (you do need to take some stairs to the top). Although the place is a popular photo spot among Instagrammers, the place is used by locals to play basketball and other recreational outdoor activities. Best not to disturb others as it is a public space for all. I stopped by in the morning and was able to take a few shots for my IG. During my time there it was not too busy but there was also a couple doing their own engagement photo shoot there using their own tripod. I didn't take too long taking photos and left before I saw more people come to the car park. Overall, can get busy at times but it's such a cool photo spot for some great photos!

yep, this is the insta famous rainbow building. more specifically, a community rec center on the…read moreroof of the parking garage for the choi hung estate. i came in the morning, so there were just influencers also there for photoshoots LOL. i read complaints online about the paint fading, but i personally think the colors shined beautifully in the sun. unfortunately, the choi hung estate will be going through a 3-phase redevelopment process starting in 2028 and ending in 2049... i'd expect it be inaccessible once this begins, so check it out when you still can!

This is no different- the no.4 car park at Chep Lap Kok International Airport is, as its name suggests, a car park. So why am I writing about it? That's because this is the carpark that less people know about. Everybody usually heads to the no.1 and 2 open air ones because that's the first one you come across when you leave the highway. Its only for short term parking though and in most cases it is filled with people doing quick pick ups and on busy days its chaotic to say the least. This multistoried one is different in both sense- its covered (great for Hong Kong's rainy season), it has a lot more spaces and this is the one you have to go to if you are parking long term. I have had to do a lot of pick ups this summer because of travelling family members and the advantage of using this carpark is that on the (2) level there is a pick up point that leads you directly (via a short walk through an air conditioned passage) into the arrival hall. That spares you having to wait for the lifts which you do at no.1 & 2. Its also a much shorter walk if you have to pick someone up from arrival hall A- those who fly from CLK will know what I mean. Just remember that if you have to park long term you may have to approach the parking attendants first.

With numerous new malls springing up around in Tsuen Wan parking has become an increasingly frustrating matter as parking lots at the mall never tend to be enough to cater for shoppers who come to visit. Lo Tak Circuit comes from the early days of town planning when public parking spaces were still a big part of city planning, hence you will find this odd opening in the middle of town for a parking lot. Most of the spaces are for private cars and much of the meters are 2-hour meters which is much better if you intend to do a bit of shopping. There are some 30 minutes meters on one side too which makes for better turnaround times as people never seem to stay long on those. Beware- don't park at the other end of the carpark where all the trucks are- because they are limited for trucks only and they will block you in if you decide to take your chances. As with anywhere in Hong Kong, it will take patience and some aggressive maneuvers to get the space you want but with such a large number of spaces it shouldn't be too difficult. In the morning most of the spaces are taken up by taxis and contrary to public perception the place gets busier towards midnight when people leave their cars overnight. So get there well early and expect to wait. This is Hong Kong so I guess you know already.

Back in the day and for a short time I was the proud owner of two cars- or I should say I bought one before I could sell the old one. Though I was on verge of selling the old one, that still meant that I had to live with two cars and one parking space for about a week. This meant I had to find somewhere to park quick. The Tsing Yi Sportsground proved to be a savior. The parking rates here are relatively cheap- 12 HKD./ hr normally and overnight parking is 60 HKD which I find to be very fair. What you get is a huge open air carpark that is well lit, well patrolled and the only drawback would be the fact that it is open ground. You can't have it all as they say. You will find that a lot of people actually park here instead when they go to maritime Square as that place is constantly jammed up and the queues back up for a mile and parking here makes no difference at all. It takes no time to get to the mall. As with all public sports ground, you would not be advised to park here for prolonged periods of time as the charges are incremental and eventually you may be better off just parking in the mall or station carpark anyways. However, if they ever did a monthly deal I'm sure the spaces will be taken up in no time. Of course, we keep forgetting that this carpark is actually here to cater for the sports ground users and it so happens that many people live near it. Best value? Yes Long Term Parking? No. Anything else? Ask the attendant.
