We reached out to Jon and the communication was on point compared to the other four contractors that we were in conversation with. After a very little conversation and a basic job walk Jon provide us with a great estimate and we went forward with getting the work done. Not only did Jon fix the 8 foot area that we damaged. He also fixed several other areas on the rock wall that had been affected by age and erosion. This is a 10 star company, and we are very appreciative of their communication and quality of service. By the way, we actually hired three contractors before we had conversation with Jon and they never showed up to do the job . Jon honored his word from day one and did a fantastic job. Thanks Jon. Our development (Homestead at Mills River) uses Mateo Construction for landscaping maintenance…read more Being new to the area a couple of years ago, we originally used a local hardscaping company who did an "okay" job for an inordinately high amount and they were pretty unreliable. We were not satisfied and decided to look elsewhere midway in our project. We first gave Mateo a smaller job. They did such an excellent job that we assigned them the full project at that point. We could not be happier. It was like night and day compared to the previous company we had hired. Mateo showed up every day and worked hard to stay on schedule which they did. That is more than I can say about the previous company. Mateo also gave us a fair price and did not price gouge us. The quality of their work is outstanding. We were amazed at how fast they got it done and how dedicated they were to getting it right. Because of how well they did when we first moved here, we made the decision to only use Mateo construction for our outdoor space. Incidentally, we had to rebuild our staircase off our deck during this project, and Mateo was even able to do that. Next, I want to discuss dedication. We were in the middle of the this huge landscaping project (which covered about an acre of our property) and it was not finished around the time that Hurricane Helene hit. We had all the new trees in our driveway (to be planted) and the mulch was supposed to be laid. The Wednesday afternoon before Helene hit us on Friday morning, Mateo Construction showed up with enough workers to secure our trees and pour mounds of mulch and lay boulders in that acreage. Otherwise, it was raw dirt that would have eroded into the homes beneath us. Our house sits at 2600 feet elevation. They even did this in the rain just to make sure that we were OK. After Helene passed, they came by to check on us. They uprighted some trees that fell over. We also use them in the winter for our 300+ foot driveway when it ices. We are loyal customers! We are beginning a large addition to our existing home. And, of course, we have chosen Mateo Construction to do the hardscaping and landscaping for this project.

He did such a great job with my office furniture assembly that I asked him to return this month to hang my art / diplomas / certificates, etc. There were numerous groupings of framed items. He hung them with his usual precision and attention to detail. It's all perfectly centered, leveled, distributed, and aligned. I can be difficult to please in that respect but I could not have asked for better. Great work, Alex, and many thanks! ______________ Review posted March 10, 2026: Mr. Rylov spent an entire day in my new office space assembling several big pieces of furniture that were delivered during our move. Last time I needed services like this, we paid contractors through the retailers we had purchased from. His pricing is competitive, he was easier to schedule, and he did a MUCH better job. He is a perfectionist -- he worked very hard to make sure everything was done just right. Though I tried to offer him the "easy way out" on a couple small tasks to keep things simple, he gently insisted on going the extra mile to make sure it was all completed exactly as it should be. I had expected a day of trying to work through a lot of noise and distractions but he worked so quietly and was extremely respectful and professional. I would not hesitate to call him again for more work.
