As a patient subscribed to their Facebook page, I had run across a negative review fairly recently that expressed some disappointing news. I thought maybe the last couple of times I'd brought my kids in for appointments, that maybe this same assistant doesn't always act in such ways, but it seems that similar issues were experienced by other patients as well. Regardless, it didn't take long for this review to be taken right down, as the office was clearly worried about their image being tarnished. If you notice, the majority of reviews this office has (*allows you to see*) are positive. But now we are seeing that they just remove anything that is said about them that could be considered remotely negative and replace them with fake reviews that don't even show that actual patients even wrote them (?? corny, but okay). They have completely removed the ability for patients to leave reviews on their Facebook page as well as their actual website at this time (so it definitely seems that these 5 star reviews they're giving themselves are completely fabricated). And while I agree that maybe Facebook isn't really the place to call someone out by name on their faults, this office has no problem publicly posting pictures of these same exact assistants along with cringe-worthy Tik-Tok videos on all of their social media accounts (is anyone going to tell them that they're allowing their own employees to embarrass themselves?). Their social media image is more important to them than anything all while promoting themselves as being ever-so-privileged to be able to provide "high-quality" care to their patients, as if they were their own "family". How can you provide quality care to any degree when your faces are in your phones half the day? What a severe disappointment. Dr. Perna himself always provided such a genuinely comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and DID promote quality care for many years.I guess times have changed and they don't really care what kind of individuals they hire at this point. Maybe COVID made it hard for them to find good workers? Sad. Either way, I won't be bringing my children in for any further appointments or recommending this office to friends or family anytime soon. Dr. Birdsall refused to do the extraction despite extreme pain due to an extraction with 2 roots being too complex, in his words. Left the office in excruciating pain in tears and given a prescription for round 2 of antibiotics. Their next move was to mail a dismissal letter. Pretty humorous for a PPO patient with perfect teeth otherwise paying cash for urgent service. My regular dentist was "flabbergasted" at Dr. Birdsall's refusal to take action, I can only imagine how he would react to the unprofessional conduct for a patient left in pain after the fact.

I had my first appointment today and I was blown away! I've never had such a great experience in a…read moredentist's office, and it's all thanks to Dan (my hygienist)! Dan explained everything through the entire process with me. Why certain things happen, what the treatment does, etc., answering all of my questions. And in a way that was so kind and not condescending at all! For example, my gum eroded on one tooth where I used to have braces, and my previous providers never told me what that was or how it impacted my dental health. I never knew it was a problem! (In fact, I don't think I've ever had my gums measured, which they do in the office.) So it kept getting worse to where now the root is partially exposed, which is difficult or can't be repaired. He was worried about rambling on with his explanation, but it was actually so helpful! I learned so much in a single appointment than I had my entire life receiving dental care. I think that if I learned this earlier on I would have avoided a few cavities or drilling. Now that I know what Dan has taught me (in a single visit, mind you!!!), I feel more confident that I can turn things around with my dental health for the better (not that it's horrible, but I have room for improvement). And he's so nice that I want to do better, so I don't disappoint him if I, for example, don't floss. Which is a positive motivator! He shows genuine care toward his patients, and it really shows, not just in his demeanor, but in how thorough and careful he is with his cleaning. He seemed focused on making me confident on how we can improve together, especially emphasizing which issues are perfectly normal and unavoidable due to anatomy. You will not be berated on being "wrong" or "lazy". I felt more empowered in my care. He also informed me that any sealants I get are constantly monitored (they took pictures today) every time I come in for a visit, so if anything happens to them, they will replace them with no questions asked for free! I've never experienced this level of service at a dentist's office. I've been receiving mediocre care all this time and thought it was normal. I came to Lalor Dental Vestal as a new patient from out of state with an active periodontal…read morecondition that had already been fully diagnosed by my previous dentist (moved), including current X-rays, pocket depth measurements, and a DNA bacterial test. The office rejected my wish to send my existing X-rays and pocket depth records when I called and made an appointment, requiring me to repeat testing that had already been done. The X-ray process took 40 minutes and was very painful which I am not used to in previous annual cleanings, but the hygienist was great and helped normalize that most patients say it's uncomfortable as well. She and the man who greeted me in-person at the front desk are the only reason this is not "0" stars. Dr. Attal showed little interest in my existing documentation or the urgency of my situation, which was very frustrating to me since I was experiencing pain. I was asked to schedule yet another separate appointment just to re-measure pocket depths already on file. Not every patient has the time or financial resources for repeated appointments and duplicate testing, especially when dealing with a painful gum condition requiring prompt treatment. I left feeling dismissed and no closer to the treatment I needed. I will now be driving 7 hours one way to see my previous dentist because Lalor was unwilling to provide the care I need. I would not recommend Dr. Attal to patients who come in with existing records or complex dental needs.

She is so warm and always happy. She felt like a trustworthy friend after just one visit! My dentist was Dr. Bucker and the experience was always very pleasant. Thankfully, I didn't need any actual work done so our time together was limited, but, if I did I would have 100% confidence in Dr. Bucker. I recently moved out of the area and just had a terrible experience with one of those "chain" dental groups. I felt homesick for this dental group immediately. It is hard to find high-quality trustworthy healthcare. This place is definitely it.
