So while we survived a steady diet of the Ranger and various low-end, mass-produced California wines (I mean, you can drink almost anything if you're lounging in the sun and have a lake to jump into, right?!), my man and I still needed nightly fortification for our drive back and our nights in hotels. Pulling into Bismarck after two weeks of scarcity, I was thrilled to find Captain Jack's and their relative plethora of selection. Many of my favorite familiar microbreweries (along with lesser-known, more local Midwestern ones) were represented, from six-packs to cases to liters to a wall-full of single bottles. My four-pack of Flying Dog Double Dog Imperial IPA was an excellent choice, and although being without a wine key limited me to screwcaps, nevertheless snagged that old standby, Big House Red. If I ever make the drive again, I'm remembering that Captain Jack's is the place to stop, and stock up!
