I have been a patient at this office for several years. A few years ago, I had a root canal and…read morecrown done here, and ever since, I have experienced ongoing issues and repeated infections with that tooth. Despite this, every time I called requesting a callback, I never received one. About four weeks ago, the tooth became sore for about a week. The following week, I went in for a routine cleaning. The hygienist was great, and I mentioned the pain I had experienced. She took an X-ray and said she did see something concerning, and that Dr. Schmieder would reach out to me. Three more weeks passed with no call. I finally reached out again, and I still never spoke to Dr. Schmieder directly. The only communication I received was from the front desk. The secretary called and informed me--very casually--that the doctor said I have an infection in the tooth, that I need antibiotics, and that I need to see a specialist. There was no urgency, no offer to bring me back in, and no explanation that the root canal may have failed. I have now been dealing with an infected tooth for weeks, an infection that could potentially spread to other parts of the body. Yet not once did the doctor call me personally to explain the situation or apologize for the lack of communication. This is unacceptable. I plan to file a complaint with the Missouri Dental Board and am considering legal options as well. My name is Richard McCabe. I posted this review on Thursday--it's now Friday--and still no call. Dentists may work four days a week, but in my line of work, no matter how busy I am or whether I'm off the clock, I always return my customers' calls. Basic communication and patient care should not be too much to expect.

TaDarrol came in after the hygienist completed my series of introductory x-rays to go over the results with me. TaDarrol had a pleasant disposition, kind eyes and seemed very genuine as he described what he saw. I explained my own philosophy as to how I approach treating suspected cavities and he listened and ultimately respected my wishes without argument. TaDarrol did offer me a prescription strength flouride toothpaste to aid me in my approach to naturally remineralizing weak spots, which I really appreciated. They are not my friends. They are my dental support team for the care of my teeth. In this regard, they exceeded my expectations. I am recovering from 3 hours of the removal of an infection and a temporary crown this morning. This afternoon, I am not in pain and do not require pain reliever. That's a first. Looking at the price for the crown, it is consistent with what I was charged by my previous dentist before I moved into this area. This is not the first time I've seen negative reviews based on personalities but at the end of a long day, I want to know how good this dentist is, not if they can be buddy buddy with me. What I found was a 5 star dentist with excellent dental skills. The addage is that you get what you pay for but I see superior dental care within the realm of what is expected for dental care costs. I have an overbite. Invisalign has been recommended but i can see why. My front lower tooth is butting up against my tooth front teeth. This recommendation is one that is needed. The staff did not recommend any cosmetic dentistry. They recommended what was needed. It is very hard to wade through reviews and pick a dentist based on reviews, but I want to let this one stand as a factual and experiential review of an outstanding dentist who is professional. I would rather have an excellent dentist who maintains professionalism and excellence of dental care than be a chummy friend. However, as she drilled for my crown you see, she paused every few minutes to ask how I was feeling, and she asked if the pain control from the shot was working for me. She is sensitive to her patients, she crosses her t's and she dots her i's. She's officially my dentist and I know that with her and her staff, I'm in good hands. 5 stars given.

The Good: They scheduled me for the same week in which I called. I was very surprised and happy that they confirmed they took my insurance and agreed to get me in so quickly for an exam. The Bad: the day of the appointment they called to discuss the details of my arrival. I told the staff I only wanted a physical exam and then a cleaning, but no x-rays for health reasons. After conferring with the dentist, the staff member told me x-rays were mandatory and would be necessary for a treatment program. As I don't have any issues, only a desire to receive prophylaxis care to keep it that way, I only wanted to buy the service I needed. Aspen dental opted to cancel my appointment for my refusal to receive extra services, rather than just do an old fashioned oral exam and cleaning/polishing. Not impressed. Customer service has seemed to plummet in recent years; turning away clients who won't be upsold is no way todo business.

Their billing is horrible and you will get bills 2 years after receiving service.read more
