As-salamu alaykum…read more
Before you read this, I would like to cordially clarify that this entire review is centered around the middle school faction. The Montessori classes are wonderful and will teach your child many things: manners, respect, practical skills to apply in real life situations, and so much more.
Starting this off, let me tell you that Miftaahul Uloom Academy has close to zero qualified teachers that have actual teaching degrees. Because of this, when you transfer from middle school to high school, almost no schools will permit your child to do advanced classes due to not having any actual records.
They also lack a proper lunch, due to lack of staff, so your child will most likely be eating ordered food or just pasta at best.
Looking back at the original point of the teachers not being qualified; they are also not trained properly to the extent of harassing the students. At one point, a math teacher threw a metal water bottle that barely missed a child's head. He now suffers severe trauma.
Now, they have implemented a high school--despite being understaffed--and the one, yes, ONE, student that goes to the 9th grade is being forced to teach themselves whilst sitting with the underclassmen.
They use insults and derogatory language to deteriorate the child's self esteem throughout the visit, basically humiliating them.
On top of this, the staff have shown many cases of racism towards students. They would take POC students to the office with no reason aside from being "disruptive," which can simply be dealt with in class, especially when "disruptive" means saying barely a sentence- which it did in this case.
Many of the teachers will barely teach your child, assign IXL or some random assignment they thought up on the spot, not explain it properly, then sit on their phones for the remainder of the period.
They care about their reputation more than they care about your child's' wellbeing and education.
Miftaahul Uloom Academy had children perform manual labor without parental consent-- which included carrying extremely heavy boxes up and down stairs. Even when parents complain, they will continue to force children to perform labor.
Not to mention the sexism ingrained into the school. When a male student suggests ideas, activities, or fundraisers, the idea was praised and immediately taken into consideration. When a female student suggests the same thing, their idea would be undermined and promptly ignored.
If you think this is fair, then go ahead and send your kid to the Miftaahul Uloom middle school; but be prepared to see your child come home from school drained every day. No parent wants this for their child-- I know from personal experience.
So, I beg of you, reconsider your decision if you're planning to enroll your child in anything above 5th grade and find concern in any of the topics mentioned above.
