County of Colusa - Cockroach infestation! They literally run towards you!

The Parks & Recreation department needs a complete overhaul. The unprofessionalism and audacity of…read morethe employees working in this office is unsettling and disappointing. They collected my $700 downpayment with no problem in the office but called me afterwards to notify me that I would have to obtain a "commercial liability of insurance" policy. I rented the hall for a personal, family event. Why in the world would I need a commercial insurance policy? After going back and forth between my insurance agent and the Parks & Recreation department, it was clear that the Parks & Recreation department was clueless about what they were asking for. I rented the Cub Scout cabin 2 months in advance for a very important event only to be called 2 days prior to the event date with bad news..the AC had gone out during 90 degree weather! As someone who also works in customer service, I understand that unfortunate events beyond control do happen, however, this was not the part that had me flabbergasted. It was the apathetic, "it is, what it is" attitude that I received from the woman who called with the bad news. No solutions were presented, no discounts, no accommodations, not even a simple "we're sorry to inform you"... all I received as an option was to cancel and receive a refund. (TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT!) The lady also informed me that I had less than 2 hours to drive to Colusa and pick up the keys before the office closed for the weekend. I live over 45 mins away and had received no form of advanced notice. As I scurried and rushed to make it to the office in time, I open the door at Parks & Recreation to hearing the same woman laughing and gossiping about me to the other women in the office!!! She was mimicking me from the conversation we had prior on the phone. I was so completely blown away by the unprofessionalism that I had asked to speak with their supervisor. The woman claimed he wasn't in the office and provided his cellphone number. I was able to contact the supervisor who had much better customer service than the rest of the Parks & Recreation department. However, he just kept reiterating that they would do their best to fix the AC and that a discount or monetary accommodation would not be an option. He also added that, "Colusa County is losing money by renting out this hall and that no guarantee of an air-conditioned hall was ever advertised." After hanging up the phone with the supervisor, the woman calls me back to inform me that "although my contract states that I must vacate the property by 10am, they are now expecting me to be out by 8am due to another event that day" !!!! This is where I just about lost it. Now my contract is being breached and dishonored. My family had referred me to this event hall rental because they have rented it over a dozen times in the past. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last time. Luckily, the AC was fixed the day of the event. That was just about the only good news I received from my entire experience with Colusa County. The hall was filthy and infested with huge cockroaches and ants. The water was dirty and smelled like sewer. My guests seemed to enjoy it and were making jokes to lighten the embarrassing situation of cockroaches running around. To sum up my experience with the Colusa County Parks & Recreation department..it was disgusting. Please learn from my experience and heed this warning.

County of Colusa - The water looks and smells disgusting. Washing dishes in the faucet water was nauseating. This is the color of the water.
