We've all been there,…read morewe've all stood in a long line with slow cashiers and we have all walked a hundred miles in this store just to get milk. We have also all marveled at the human species while in this ginormous store. We've been there, done that. The game changer for me, though, was the order pickup tower that was recently installed. WOW-WE! Before the tower when you ordered something online for store pickup, you had certain hurdles you had to jump over to get your item. You had to scan in, wait for someone to acknowledge you, show you ID, wait while they searched through lockers to find your item and then you were good to go. With the tower, you scan in the barcode that has been emailed to you. Your product is rotated around and then scooped into a bin and the bin releases into an opening in the tower. You simply retrieve your item and *POOF* off you go. It took me under two minutes to get my item. Seriously, it was that fast. It was fun watching the item being retrieved, too. The best part about this new service is you do not have to wait for someone to wait on you. You don't have to wait for fumbling clerks to find a locker key, rummage through other items to retrieve your product. It is quite an incredible system. I actually might order more things just so I can use it again. LOL. At this point in time, there are only 150 of these towers in operation throughout the United States. I am just grateful there is one in Lawrence. I am one of those techy geek people and WalMart just knocked it out of the park!

The spouse said the market itself was exceptionally clean, the shelves stocked and blocked and the meat case was filled with excellent cuts. There's an adjacent grab 'n go coffee mart with snacks in the event a thirsty traveler needs a quick refreshment along scenic Highway 60.

At least I can clean off the cans or jars after getting them home! Their meat is atrocious & severely lacking in quality! There is more fat & gristle on/in the meat than there is meat! The last time I was in the store, I was looking to buy some fresh produce -- onions, green peppers, potatoes -- but when I saw all the bugs around the produce, I refused to buy anything from that department! I couldn't believe it! Since they changed management in the store, it's gotten very dirty & isn't being taken care of at all. There is little to no regard for their customers & very seldom are you greeted or even see someone who works there smiling! The pricing is outrageous for what you get, especially since most of what you buy shrinks to half the size from what it looked like when you first paid for it! Their whole chickens are more fat than meat! The only meat I buy has to be name brand or forget buying it. Anything packaged by the store isn't worth the price you have to pay for it! The last manager, Dennis Brooks, kept the store clean, always greeted people with a smile & spoke to them. He made sure that there wasn't dust on any of the products & did his best to make sure everything was done correctly -- for customer's sakes! Nothing like that exists in this store any more! In the last few months this store has went really down hill. It's dirty, only one checker and there is one other checker who disappears a lot. Manager is hardly ever at store and no assistant manager! There is the office manager Monday thru Friday who is very nice but can not do much. Sale items are not available as they will not be delivered till Thursday afternoon and if anyone is around to stock it on shelves you might find items out on Friday. Why have sale Wednesday to following Tuesday if you don't have sale items in produce, meat department, canned goods, etc.? I think we will start traveling the extra miles to Farmington, MO or Poplar Bluff, MO and if we need milk or bread will go to Dollar General in town before going back to Town & Country.

They have all the organic foods I like to add to my healthy diet. Great, tasty whole grain breads, tortillas, organic fruit, sweet potatoes, cabbage, celery, lettuce, tempee, local eggs, bulk spices (no weird additives or GMOs, folks!) & snacks.. and that's just for starters. Plus, every time I walk in I feel better. The place is clean, peaceful, and it's the prettiest local store to walk around and shop. I buy little healthy candies & other gifts there, made by other local artisans. If you're in the area, stop by because you'll be glad you did. And do look up on the roof - you'll see solar panels galore!
