Upon arrival for our school tour, I saw someone I knew and my husband saw someone he went to high school with nearly 20 years ago, who happened to both be teaching at the school. They greeted us and gave us their perspectives and it immediately felt like home. The children themselves were friendly and eager to say hello to my then-4-year-old and as soon as our tour ended, I knew this was the place for us. Now that we're nearing the end of our first year at OLF, I can confidently say our instincts were correct -- the teachers are caring and competent and the community is cohesive, but most importantly, there is a strong emphasis on education, fellowship, and safety. I am writing to express my concern about the issue of bullying and favoritism at Santa Fe Christian School. My daughter, who is now in third grade, attended your Christian preschool in the past, where she was bullied by her classmates. She was embarrassed to tell us about it, but we later found out about the incidents. When my daughter was attending an afterschool daycare program, she was pushed by someone, and she push back in self-defense. Unfortunately, the teacher saw her punch the person, and my daughter was the one who got in trouble. This incident had a negative impact on her life, and she is still dealing with the consequences of it today. Due to the fear of being bullied again and the possibility of the school blaming her, my daughter has been an independent study since Covid. This is a problem that we are still dealing with to this day because the school did not do its part. We found that there was a great deal of favoritism at the private Christian school she was attending, and my daughter, as a person of color, was made to feel like a second-class citizen. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about my daughter's safety and well-being at school. No child should have to go through bullying or feel like they are being treated unfairly. I urge you to take this matter seriously and take immediate action to stop the bullying and address issues of favoritism at your school. I thought my family and I had put this behind us, but after recently speaking with a parent also going through issues with this school, she mentioned that her daughter said this a couple of days after we left that school. The joy my daughter had when we told her she was going to another school still resonates with me, but knowing the headache, anxiety and stress my 5 years old went through still breaks my heart. I really felt the need and duty as a parent to let people know the experience my family and I had with this school. I know that perhaps other children are having great experiences, but knowing first hand what our child went through is one child too many. No child should be broken down to the point of uncontrollable anxiety and fear towards going to school, and knowing that after we voiced our concerns to administration and other parents are now having similar concerns really makes me feel that they clearly did not listen. Do your due diligence before you commit to a school like this. Perhaps the private school concept at a fraction of the price as compared to other private schools, seems enticing, but as we saw first hand, the emotional and academic well being of a child is not worth it. I really hope something changes within that school.

We transferred here from a different district and my child has been challenged with his reading…read moreskills. So far he has been here one year, but the staff is so helpful and always kept an eye out for my child. His teacher was able to guide him with reading at about 3rd grade level. We thrive to keep going and always learning more, but it was refreshing to see such passionate and loving staff.

Can anybody believe that after I voice my thoughts about the secretary that works in the front office of Kennedy stem Academy . My son, a child that is in special needs was kick out of the school 3 months before the school year is over. When he attended the school we lived in Cerritos which made Kennedy his home school. Obviously we proved he lived there when we first enrolled by bringing all the necessary documents needed. We then moved to Lakewood but because he was already half why though the school year we decided to finish it out. I mean nobody would want to switch their child in the middle of the school year especially if the child can have issues with having such a big change. We got a letter that said we have notice that you no longer stay in the address in our system and that a staff member (Evelyn) went to the address to confirm hahahahahaha No principle would have did it .. the teacher loved my son she definitely didn't do it. Who could have access to all this information address etc ! How about the office secretary!!! This woman who looks as if she has no life outside of the school . No husband no kids no one to love her push hard to get a 5 year old kid out the school It has to be an evil agenda behind it because why let the whole school year go by in with 3 months left all off a sudden notice the address change . Who go to ppl homes to check but a bitter (female dog) her new name should be BOB FOR BITTER OLD B!!!! She said that he got in trouble the first time for asking for a ball back even though she denied to give it and he didn't say anything wrong but he got in trouble because she thought it was a good idea to get him in trouble and just say that he hit her. Then the second time my son had been screamed at TWICE and they were saying to take a seat because he was looking for a clean table. They then told him to sit down at a table full of trays and trash all over. They never cleaned his table so he asked for a new table and that lady said no so he asked another supervisor that was way more kind and so they moved. The first supervisor said that they weren't supposed to move even though they got permission and him and his friends got in trouble twice for no reason. And his teacher Mrs. Tanaka was really horrible because he didn't even want to go to school anymore because of the way she acted to him so she would always scream at him and he would never like it. These two shouldn't even be on this campus because of the way they both act but this school doesn't even care at all about what happens.

I did not speak with my daughter about this and called the principal in the car after forgetting I was off for the day. After the conversation, I decided I would pick my daughter up early, instead of driving home and having to turn around and get her. I picked her up and she told me all about how the teacher and her aid loudly spoke in front of the class about how she's not going to meet with me and she's tired of me complaining. I knew she couldn't of made it up, because I just called and spoke with the principal in the CAR and now I'm picking her up 30 mins after the conversation and my 8 year old knew every detail. She said it made her feel uncomfortable and embarrassed.I did follow up with the principal about that. The next week front offices attitudes greatly shifted towards me. That same week, my daughter was accused of writing a note and was verbally reprimanded. Upon investigating it was found that an older student in the bathroom told her to write the note. That was the same student who "found " her with the note and reported her. It was clearly a set up because the older student did not receive any reprimand. There was no follow up and my daughter's verbal reprimand remained. No! I pulled her out at the end of the semester! Another parent pulled their child the following week. Some parents love it and have been there for years no problem so it honestly just depends.

The staff are consistently disrespectful and rude, often speaking to the children in an outrageous and unprofessional manner. My child, along with many others, would frequently complain about how the staff treated them--not only during school hours, but also in before- and after-school programs. I had to visit the office several times to address these concerns with the principal, but there was never a real solution. Instead of handling situations appropriately, the staff seems to write students up for the smallest issues--forgetting that kids are just being kids, and not every situation warrants a disciplinary report. The front office staff are equally unprofessional, often speaking disrespectfully to parents and even gossiping about families and students with other staff. This creates unnecessary drama and a toxic environment. Rather than uplifting children, this school tears them down. It claims to be a Christian school, but sadly, the values and conduct of the staff do not reflect Christian principles. After everything my daughter and I experienced, I ultimately made the difficult decision to withdraw her from this school.
