Just because you're a step parent you shouldn't be placed on the back burner sometimes the step parents are the ones carrying the load and doing all the school stuff because the bio parent is too busy working etc... so more communication is essential in my opinion. We will see how the rest of the year and years to come go.

Hey! I'm the first one to review this school! Heck YES!…read more I have been a Bascomb Mom for 10 years. Both of my boys have gone there. My youngest one is still there. The reason why I felt that I needed to review this school is for all of the out-of-town people looking to move into a community because of the schools. Look no further... you've found your new home! Coming from Florida in 2006, we moved to Woodstock pretty much blindly. My husband was relocated so there was really no choice. We looked at 40 homes in 2 days! We looked from Canton to Roswell. The house we have lived in for the past 10 years was the FIRST house that we toured! Funny huh??!! I did a TON of research on schools when I was still in Florida. Greatschools.net was a Godsend! When touring our home I was able to speak to the homeowner for a brief moment. I told her that we were thinking of sending our kids to the local private schools. Her exact words were "WHY??" She continued to tell me that Bascomb Elementary School was all and more. In the past 10 years I have met some of the most wonderful, caring teachers that I could hope for. If you have a special needs child they take great care in making sure that they have exactly what they need to succeed! It does take a bit for you to be "accepted" by the front office staff LOL. I had been going for years and felt that they were a bit put off any time that I needed assistance. What I later found was these women work as hard as the teachers! They deal with CRAZY parents (insert my name) on a constant basis. Among the great teachers they have the BEST NURSE IN THE WORLD! Nurse Jamie is an angel! My son actually likes to make trips to the clinic on a weekly basis (little flirt!). But for real, I have never seen a nurse take such care. When my older son had been in the clinic, she called me and gave me his temp, OXYGEN LEVEL, and so on! WHAT??? That's just insane! But so needed from us working moms that cant jump every time our kid has a splinter. Bascomb is a great school. My husband and I are so thankful that our kids have been able to go through a great Elementary School experience.

It's truly a…read morehidden gem for families seeking a college preparatory education in a welcoming, structured environment. With varied academic levels--including AP, Honors, and two tiers of College Prep, students are both challenged and supported, allowing every student to thrive & receive the individual attention they deserve. Our son struggles with executive functioning and has thrived with the supportive routines; our daughter, a more typical learner, has also excelled. The curriculum is intentionally process-oriented, broken down into manageable segments so students gain mastery, not just memorization. There's a strong emphasis on organizational skills, note-taking (Cornell method), research skills, and effective study habits. The mandatory "Homework Hour" and use of assignment planners help students build discipline and self-reliance; as parents, we appreciate that most homework is completed at school. It's an excellent fit for students with dyslexia or ADHD, but also offers plenty of challenge--including Honors and AP options, for academically advanced or typical learners. St Francis sets high, but appropriate, expectations for all. A previous post mentioned the point system. This system is an amazing way to help students with accountability. The post mentioned 3-10 kids per week that might have to wear the uniform on Fridays. This point system is at the K-8 campus. That equates to about 1-2% of the kids each week. That means ~99% get their homework completed each night and don't have a behavior issue at school. We have not experienced any vaping or bullying, the staff, creates a safe community. Students and staff are respectful and kind. Both staff and admin are accessible, present on campus, and genuinely care about each child. Our experience with the school's college guidance program has been especially impressive; counselors work closely with students to chart a successful course to their desired college. If there's a weakness, it's that the campus buildings and grounds aren't new and flashy. It's important for prospective families to know that the academic excellence and caring community here far outweigh how our campus compares to some of the other newer private school campuses. If you're searching for a school that prioritizes strong values and a college preparatory path, St Francis deserves your attention. We are deeply invested in this community, and are grateful every day for what this school offers. St Francis is one of those rare places where students are truly known, respected, and equipped with the habits and confidence needed for lifelong success. We love St. Francis and are proud to recommend it wholeheartedly!

They don't care about how your doing mentally or physically. The counsalrs don't do crap. don't just come here because it's "fancy" or "collage prep" Because that said "collage prep," is just making you work harder in school during summer just so the staff can get a extra pay check. if you want your kids to feel good about them selves, don't send them here. Bullying= they don't help. waste of time and money. do better SFHS

My children don't even know how lucky they are to get daily foreign language classes, an entire staff that knows them by name, on-campus tutoring (if needed), and all the individualized attention they could ever want! As a parent, I'm obviously thrilled with the advanced curriculum, something my children see as the norm because it's all they've known. But just as important is what they DON'T experience: phone distractions, fashion-comparison pressures, classroom behavior disruptions that hinder learning, overcrowded spaces, or the risk of getting lost in the crowd. It makes me so happy that this is the schooling that they get to experience. *I read a review mentioning that funds weren't used for front door safety, but we've actually had a new front door code access system all year!

Our family attended for four years (2021-2025) and observed increasing concerns, especially with the administration run by the Murdock family. Key issues of growing concerns included: -High teacher turnover, dismissed by the administration as normal but found to be worse than other schools. -Misuse or unexplained use of fundraiser money, particularly for promised security upgrades that were never completed (e.g., a buzz-in front door system). -Negligence with bullying, where a known student repeatedly bullied others and was only expelled after a serious incident, despite parent complaints. -Lack of leadership accountability, as all administrative roles and the board are filled by family members, leaving no room for independent oversight or appeals. I can't speak to non-returning students and families for other grades, but can say that with many of the parents in our child's grade that nearly HALF (of the now 3rd grade), including their older and younger siblings in other grades, left after the 2024-2025 school year due to these ongoing concerns.
