I consulted Erwin Law to draft a will since it was one of those things I've been procrastinating on…read more- who wants to prioritize the creation of a will? Alas, I found Erwin Law to assist me. I reached out via Yelp and we communicated mostly through email. I was given web forms to pay via credit card for the deposit and final transaction. We did most of the will creation over email, I was sent a form to complete then scan, and email back. For the final will creation, I had to visit the office in person and sign, along with Erwin's team. In all, it was a pretty realistic transaction for the creation of a will. Granted my will is not complex, so I cannot speak for someone with a lot of requirements, but Erwin Law did a great job for a basic will.

You would be better off with printing out docs from a random legal website than paying these people…read morebecause it seems like their model is volume rather than quality and if you only pay for the paper you'll at least get your money's worth. I hired them to evict my hostile tenant. All they did is cost me more money in legal fees and unnecessarily prolong the time it took to get the tenant out compared to what I could have done on my own. One of the lawyers was even rude and disrespectful and hung up on me when I questioned why they missed yet another deadline and hadn't responded to me. I got rubber stamp representation that was literally less than worthless bc I could have just googled and made the same filings myself without paying their fees. Or I could have just let the tenant leave without paying because that's what ended up happening anyway. I also realized too late that this is the same law firm that handled the sale of a house that I purchased. Even as the buyer, I was frustrated with their shoddy handling of that deal as well. At least that time it might have worked in my favor because I got a pretty good price on the place. I'm glad I wasn't the seller. I am not saying you should represent yourself but I am saying that you should get a better lawyer than these people. I strongly advise that you find a different law practice for your needs especially if you have something like a sale or eviction because they do not have the attention to detail.

I'm current part of a poorly managed condo building, although I've been attempting to help turn this around. Essentially, the owners above me had issues with their HVAC system, causing water damage to my ceiling. Since I have little faith in property management companies, I went to Alisa for a second opinion and to understand my rights regarding the IL Condo Association Law. She identified several items where the property management company led our board association in the wrong direction. Alisa also reasoned to why my current property management company provided an incorrect initial assessment regarding the HVAC system/water damage. Alisa communicated promptly using Yelp messaging and accepted payment via Zelle for the consultation fee. Perhaps it's because Alisa is quite busy, but looking into a more robust scheduling system or accounting platform would help manage clients, because there was a decent amount of back and forth to just get the consultation setup. Perhaps due to this situation's rapid escalation, there was some anxiety around the situation due to the response time, but this is why many people reach out to lawyers? Regardless, Alisa was very personable and I highly recommend her for condominium law in Chicago and the state of IL.

Dear Aaron, I wanted…read moreto personally thank you for everything you did for me. When I came to you, I was exhausted, discouraged, and had almost completely lost faith in the legal process due to my prior experience. After nearly two years of inaction from my former attorney, I truly believed there was nothing that could be done. What you accomplished in the final 24 hours was nothing short of remarkable. Your ability to quickly understand the case, focus on the details, and take decisive action completely changed the outcome. Because of you, I won my case--something I never thought was possible at that point. Beyond your legal skill, what meant the most to me was how you treated me as a person. Your attentiveness, careful approach, and even your sense of humor helped me stay grounded during one of the most stressful moments of my life. When I heard the result, my hands and my heart were shaking uncontrollably. That moment will stay with me forever. Thank you for stepping in when it mattered most and for giving me hope when I had almost none left. I will always be deeply grateful and will never forget what you did for me. With sincere thanks, Hongxia Chen

Sean Patrick is not a good person and takes advantage of his clients while helping the other…read moreside!!!! I hired Sean Patrick to handle two civil cases: 1. A contractor lien and injury claim tied to a real estate deal 2. A civil lawsuit filed against me by a convicted felon (Rayfield v. Patel) He failed me in both, legally, financially, and morally. In the first matter, he promised to recover my commission, address a facial injury (from Jacob's property), and help my contractor, who was defrauded of over $70K. Instead: * He dropped my injury claim without telling me * Never recovered my commission * Used my funds to finance someone else's case, even after I said no Then came the Rayfield case. I was wrongfully arrested by Bartlett PD -- they used unrelated police reports and lies to paint me as a criminal. Rayfield, a felon, chased me outside his job and falsely claimed I pointed a gun (I didn't -- the 7-Eleven footage proves it). Sean never obtained that video or the police reports. I had to FOIA it myself. I paid over $25,000 and got: * Misspelled names * Incorrect addresses * A sloppy, botched counterclaim * Missed deadlines -- including the statute of limitations My wife, who witnessed the entire incident, was ignored. My defense was neglected. Worse, Sean mocked my PTSD and disabilities (I'm a Marine veteran and former police officer), cursed at me, and gaslit me into paying more money every 2 weeks. He'd charge $200-600 per "call", even if 5 minutes, then ask for $2K-$4K more. When I passed out the day my daughter was born, he billed me anyway... No humanity whatsoever. I asked him months after I fired him for invoices, twice, I was ignored both times. Invoices (#2030 and #2037) show major inconsistencies, inflated hours, double-billing, vague charges, and wrong totals. He also accused me of pointing a gun at Rayfield before he had even seen the video. My own attorney believed a convicted felon's false story over his client's, without reviewing the evidence, without protecting me, and without ever acting like my defense mattered. Video showed I didn't do it. Furthermore, I had to get the police report, and video, myself as well, after having paid over $25,000 in legal fees, which then showed Bartlett Police Department violated my constitutional rights in multiple ways. Any competent attorney, or even police officer, would be able to see it in black and white in the report. Hal Garfinkal, Sean Patrick, and Aaron Rifkind are all criminals, who completely changed the entire trajectory of my family and my life... Financially, physically, emotionally, everything. Imagine being treated like a zoo animal, only later to find out its a human. Sean even asked intrusive questions about my finances in an intentional tort case, where bankruptcy wouldn't protect me, which made it feel like he, the court, and the opposing attorney were just trying to bleed me dry. He accused me of pointing a gun before seeing the video. Now: * My business is ruined * My career's, plural, done * I'm drowning in debt * My 1.5-year-old daughter is growing up in legal hell *. I have to move out of the state where I grew up, before my daughter starts school. I've filed complaints with ARDC and the IL Attorney General. This wasn't just bad lawyering, it was predatory. AVOID!!!! They prey on trauma, exploit your trust, and leave your life in the trash. I will 100% likely get retaliation from the current judge due to this review. And the convicted felon who lies, gets my money for free. Blowing into the fire then crying about the smoke in your eyes. I pray this can never happen to another person again. You're scum bags. This is how Rifkind Patrick treats US Afghanistan Veterans who served, as well as Police Officers. I delayed this because Sean threatened retaliation when I fired him. I'm not scared of you. Perfect example of me being treated like a criminal..... Sean threatened retaliation to a person that can't do anything. Scum. Param Patel USMC Veteran, Former Police Officer, Father, Husband

Trust me; I'm an attorney…read more No, seriously, I am. And a litigator at that. And not a new one either. So- I thought that I knew what I was dealing with regarding my jerky landlords (seriously- there's history) and my bad situation in having to leave town 2 weeks after signing a new lease on that overpriced Edgewater condo- because I can read the Chicago LLT Ordinance. WRONG. I almost drove myself into a nervous breakdown and ruined my relationship over the stress of the situation - I'm not exaggerating- before I called Randy. Boy did I ever learn a BIG lesson in humility - and another big one about how to be a better lawyer. Because Randy is a good lawyer. Better standard of practise than most I've worked with personally and as a client I am 150% satisfied. In support of this assertion I offer the following personal observations: Exhibit A: Excellent client contact skills. To whit: 1- first phone call was returned within 5 minutes. He listened to my freak out, understood all the nuances and said "We can fix this." And did. 2- from signing a contract, submitting a retainer and sharing documents, he was available to ask questions and responded by phone or email within 24 hours (usually under an hour.) 3- he handed over his cell phone- AND ANSWERED IT. Once I called at 7:30 expecting to get voice mail and he answered. Exhibit B: Fast, efficient, positive results 1- He walked us through the options and executed our decisions immediately. 2- He got us our deposit AND damages back for the crazy bs that we origially weren't even aware of. 3- Check, please. Days after judgement= paid. Have I covered everything? Hm. IMHO, he's also a nice guy. Do yourself a favor, hire this dude. I wish we had sooner. Don't let that happen to you. When your plumbing screws up, do not get out a wrench, call a plumber. When you have landlord trouble, no not write letters, call Randy.

Randy knew what he was doing and acted promptly. I appreciated his help. In 2017, I hired him again to be my attorney to represent me on a purchase of a one-bedroom unit, and my experience with him was a disaster. My contract was signed right before the Memorial Day weekend. I was not made aware that he would be out of town for several days. Also, no work was done up until I terminated his representation 1 business day before the deadline of the attorney review period. It is okay to be busy and to be upfront to clients about your capacity for taking on clients' cases. But it is WRONG to be unresponsive to clients' simple questions for days, and to tell client that you were out of town after the client terminated the representation.
