There is a cool story that goes along with Wild Timor Coffee. Four Australian peacekeepers deployed to East Timor stumbled upon coffee trees originally planted by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago growing wild in the jungle. These former soldiers now help the local villagers independently harvest their crop. Beans are organically grown and pesticide free.
Staff are friendly and the space is welcoming, I have been to this cafe many times due to its proximity to one of my favourite gyms.
I ordered a short macchiato which was a good temperature with a strong flavour, though a touch bitter.
The menu contains some interesting items influenced by the origin of the company. Food wise I ordered the Timorese Sweet and Sour Eggs.
There are small tables, street and window seating as well as a courtyard. Salt flakes and whole pepper sit in small wooden pots on the tables, ready to be sprinkled with equally small spoons .. It's a nice touch.
My eggs soon arrived accompanied by house made chilli sauce (in a separate mini bowl), and ooh it packs a punch Flavours were unusual .. but in a good way, like ordering from a small street stall in an exotic tropical country. Tangy, fresh, light .. I could have eaten much more.
Good vibes and a good ethos I will be back.
Music - is a good volume and bounces along in the background, adding ambience but still very easy to have a quiet chat. Mind you they may need to work on their playlist as I heard the same song twice during the 45 mins I was there.
