I have played on many golf courses in Minnesota, and this is the worst! It certainly isn't a championship golf course, as you advertise...that's a joke!

I walked 18 holes on a Friday morning early. I didn't have a tee time since I was a single, but…read morewas able to tee off right away. There were a few people in front of me, but the pace of play was fantastic with minimal waiting. No one can complain about 18 holes in under 3 hours! The course is looking better and better every year. All of the bunkers have new sand in them which I made sure to try out four different times to have a thorough review ;). The greens rolled true and had decent speed. There are a few unique holes on this course that require some strategy and shot making to do well. It definitely isn't wide open and there is a lot of potential to lose balls. There are also a few holes that are lined with houses on one side or the other. The typically don't come into play unless you hit a very poor shot. If you are a decent golfer, this is a really fun course. If you have trouble getting the ball in the air regularly, this would be very very frustrating. The only negative is that the bugs were bad. I would suggest taking some bug spray with you. There were two holes on the front nine that are quite damp, and I thought I was going to be carried away by the mosquitoes. The rest of the course were still buggy but tolerable. It may have been due to it still being relatively early and I was walking making me an easy meal.

I tried this course out on a weekday because I had a pass from the Golf Show. I probably wouldn't…read morehave played here if I didn't have the pass as it is an hour drive from Minneapolis, but figured I'd give it a try and play somewhere new. The track plays like your typical muni course with muni conditions - the greens are small, the fairways are not as nice as other western courses like Pebble Creek. It is a good course to walk (except if it is muddy in the "forest" that you walk through between a few holes. It was a warm day and there was not one jug of water on the course - and no beverage cart. The clubhouse is older and lacks some of the amenities of other courses. Play was on the fast side which is good - it is mostly flat and straight. Number 12 is a cool par 3 hole requiring a 140 yard carry over wetlands and a precision hit on a well guarded green. Also - the price was right. It is one of the few options in the area for locals but probably not a destination course from the Twin Cities.

Given the relatively short golfing season we have here in Minnesota, having an option like the…read moreBunker is very welcome luxury for those of us that miss being able to hit the links without splurging on a plane ticket to a warmer destination. The Bunker has twelve simulators available and reservations are generally recommended, as it can get busy at times. While it's not the real thing, the simulators are generally pretty accurate and the hourly rates are fairly reasonable. There are plenty of course options to choose from and plenty of TVs to keep you occupied in between shots. Should you be thirsty you can grab a pitcher or two of fairly ho-hum beer and frozen pizza is available should you be unable to wait for better sustenance elsewhere. Whether you're just looking to dust up the game over winter, or looking to join an indoor league, the Bunker should scratch your itch to get out on the links whenever the weather or your schedule aren't willing to accommodate.

So first things first: I'm no golfer. The BF tried to teach me how to golf a couple Summers ago,…read morebut I swear each time I'm out on a course I get worse and worse picking up one bad habit after another... Even so, the BF enjoys golf, and I enjoy playing with him. I thought trying a place like The Bunker with golf simulators might be fun, and a welcome change from the long rounds spent waiting for me to practically walk my ball to the hole! I had never heard of The Bunker until I saw a deal on Crowd Cut this Winter for 50% off. So, I figured it might be something cool to do when we were suffering from the winter blues and wanting to spend some quality time with each other. The deal was a round of 18 holes, a pitcher of beer, and a pizza for two for $45. I thought it seemed like a pretty good deal...that was until I heard the words "frozen pizza". That's right, ladies and gents...they serve frozen pizza. We scheduled a 6:30pm tee time for a rainy Friday night a couple weeks ago, and when we got there we had the place completely to ourselves! I guess I didn't really know what to expect, but a cold, dark, unoccupied space wasn't it. A few other twosomes showed up before the night was over, but it was still really dead around there. The guy that was running the place was friendly and helpful--the one bright spot in an otherwise dreary experience. He set up the simulator for us, brought us our pitcher of beer, and then asked us what kind of pizza we wanted--that was when the "frozen" bomb was dropped. We had a little trouble figuring out how to putt, so we asked for his assistance a short while later and he set the simulator to practice mode so he could demonstrate. After that, I was well on my way to sucking on a virtual golf course as well as the real variety--to be fair, the courses are apparently pretty tough on everyone...but that doesn't mean I suck any less! The pizza was ok--certainly not what I was originally expecting, and probably not even as good as your average Tombstone. We pounded back our Mich Goldens and powered our way through the 18 holes like champs. If they'd had a little better options for food and/or beer, we likely would've ordered something else and enjoyed ourselves a little more. But quite frankly, as much fun as I have spending an evening with my BF, we were looking forward to the end of the round! Bottom line: we won't be visiting The Bunker again unless their menu or my game improves significantly!

Abby worked with us through the entire process, giving us suggestions for everything we didn't know about. She is so knowledgeable about everything we could have possibly needed. When we would come to her with a crazy idea we had, instead of telling us all the reasons why it couldn't happen, she talked about the different ways we could accomplish it! In the time leading up to the wedding, Abby was constantly checking in with us making sure we had everything we needed for our special day. When the wedding day came, everything was perfect. Everything was set up exactly how Abby and I had discussed. We had a brunch themed wedding and the food was absolutely delicious! The waitstaff and bartenders were exceptional. They anticipated the needs we were having but were never in the way. The weather was gorgeous! Abby suggested opening a door to the deck area so guests could be outside and inside. It was one of the best decisions we made for the night. Our guests were able to enjoy the first 72-degree spring day we were having in Minnesota with the beautiful views of the golf course in the background. The whole reception went off without a hitch!
