Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a great spot for a relaxing and scenic visit along Lake Erie…read more We went last weekend and were able to tour the lighthouse, which was definitely worth it. Admission was $5 per person, and kids 5 and under were free. The volunteers were friendly and shared a brief but interesting history of the lighthouse and how it's been used over the years. Once inside, be ready for a bit of a climb as there are 77 narrow spiral steps leading up to an outdoor observation area. The view is worth it to see beautiful sights of Lake Erie. Even if it's not that clear of a day, you can still see Cedar Point and the Lake Erie islands in the distance. The park itself is very well maintained and offers easy access to the shoreline while still feeling safe and family-friendly. It's a peaceful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the lake breeze and sounds. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

We arrived after boating across the bay at 4:40pm and as we pulled up, the kid working said that they were out of gas as he was putting locks on the pumps. However, the boat ahead of us was in the process of fueling up. As we inquired, the answer changed to, "We are closed." Understandably frustrated we mentioned at we called ahead to ask and the kid Caleb almost refused to fuel the boat. He was no help in helping us dock and if it wasn't for the nice lady working saying, "I don't know why he said that because we are indeed open until 5:00". Caleb probably wanted to just get out of there but when you boat across the whole bay with little fuel, if it wasn't for the nice girl we would have been stranded in the marina. Overall Caleb gets an F for customer service and for lying. We will avoid getting fuel from this place again.

As soon as he casted he would get a bite; yes, the fish we got were small, but it was all his little heart needed. A gentleman next to us caught a bass!! The animals in the back are so cute, they are mostly gentle but will absolutely go after the feeding there is a review below with tons of information on the do's and don'ts of feeding the animals; I recommend you read it, it was so worth while. A quick search on TripAdvisor gave me a handful of options in my price range. Of course, you could always stay in the Cedar Point hotels, but they were way too expensive. I stumbled onto the Farrell House Lodge by accident, after trying to find something cheaper than the $190 that the Best Western Sandusky was offering me. I managed to get a room at Farrell House for a little over $150 for the night, which I thought was a steal. They had great reviews and I had never been to a B&B before, so I was sold. They offer daily check in between 3pm - 6pm, which we wouldn't be able to make due to being at the park. I called Doug at FHL the day before and he was able to work it out for me. He would pre-register me and leave me a key to the room, which was right where he said it would be when we arrived. The room was a little on the small side, but more than enough for the two of us. The bathroom was really nice and the entire property felt very homey. The next morning, we were able to get a hot breakfast before we started our drive back to Michigan, which was really appreciated. It's basically made to order, so it's not some continental breakfast that most chain hotels offer. Thanks so much to Doug and Heidi who made us feel so much at home! My only gripe would be how hard it is to find in the dark! We drove by their driveway at least twice before I spotted the "shady little road that goes into the trees". Low and behold, there it was! If you're coming from Cedar Point, just turn left - opposite to what Google Maps tells you to go!

These wetlands are remnants of the Great Black Swamp, which once covered an area 120 miles long and 30-40 miles wide. Nature enthusiasts enjoy viewing an abundance of waterfowl and shorebirds in the park's scenic wetlands, as well as from the swimming beach and picnic areas along the lake. Our family and Apache camper began a series of visits in 1967, and East Harbor has remained a favorite. Greatly enjoyed the beaches, which now have a three-foot stone barrier to prevent erosion. We visit year round. The surrounding area has become somewhat commercialized. Lots of campers and fisher folks. In our early visits, we discussed a holiday at the State Park rather than a trip to the Outer Banks or to Hilton Head... My dear wife observed that an annual Atlantic Ocean Beach holiday was elemental to our life style.

This is a 45 minute tour/ride and cost is $50 per adult and $45 for children up to age 10. This airboat is owned by a husband and wife. Definitely recommend to call ahead and schedule a ride time. There are a total of 6 seats available for passengers or if you don't mind sitting on ground you can add more. Each chair has a handle to hold onto to and noise cancelling headphones are provided as air boats are very loud. Definitely recommend bringing a spare set of clothes as you will get wet. What an absolute blast this was. You totally need to check it out next time you're in Sandusky. I felt like I was a rock gliding across the water. Man oh man was this totally worth the drive!!
