American Cancer Society Discovery Shop - Great finds

I enjoy shopping at all 3 of the American Cancer Society Discovery Shops, each one has its own…read morepersonality. The Fairview Park shop is a nice combination of clothes and some great bric a brac. Located in a medium sized plaza the Discovery Shop is also medium sized, always clean and well organized and you can find some great finds. Each week they have a 50% off color and the last weekend of the month everything in the store is 50% off. At this store I have found some really good clothes finds, especially on the men's clearance rack where the cost is $1 per item. I have found suit jackets, shirts and pants, while the men's selection is not large, what they have is usually very good and high quality. I have noticed that this store has a much larger selection of women's clothes. The store usually has a nice small selection of dishes, kitchenware and art; they do have some really interesting items up near the register, they often have some pieces from Europe, Asia and Africa. The selection seems to change everytime I have visited, nothing seems to last long at this shop. As an example I found a really nice leather motorcycle bag for under $10. The Fairview Park Discovery Shop is a fun and diverse place to do some thrifting; not the biggest store, but they really do a great job of making sure that they are selling high quality items at great prices. Not the kind of thrift store you are going to spend hours at, but well worth a visit whenever you are in the area to check out what they have. Plus the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society which is a very worthwhile charity.

I love visiting here. The volunteers are always so friendly and welcoming. Prices are fair. I…read morealways find such great deals. Especially during the 50% off sales during the end of the month.

We were pleasantly surprised with the large space and inventory. I would agree that somethings may have been overpriced while others seemed like a bargain. However, when we went to the register, the cashier let us know that all the items were actually way less expensive than we thought. To go even further, they did a buy one get one free on a brand new in the box dining room ceiling light which we couldn't pass up. I will be returning!

I just moved here from NC and was…read morehoping to find a good local thrift shop that sells furniture and home goods and was beyond happy when I opened Yelp and this popped up. Yippee skippy! Habitat Restore is such a great place in general and I was really happy with this location. Let's start with the parking lot. Although it is a bit tight, the traffic all goes in one direction which is super helpful and the entrance to the building is stairs but there's also a ramp going in, which makes this place handicap accessible and easy to bring home rolling or heavy things from the store. Upon entering the store, I noticed that there are huge signs hanging from the ceiling telling you where things are located which made navigating through the warehouse easy peasy. I was on a mission and immediately found what I was looking for. I talked with a staff member who was friendly and was delighted as two customers who happened to be leaving at the same time as I was, helped me bring my stuff to the car. Bonus! I will be visiting here regularly until I find a dresser for my husband and a lounge chair that I love for our spacious living room. Great place.

This sunflower field is beautiful during flower blooming season. I can't believe I visited way back…read morein September 2020 during COVID-19. I got lucky when I arrived in late September because many of the flowers had already begun to fade or wilt. I was really bored one day from just sitting at home so I decided to go for a walk outside while enjoying the sunshine. I came to this sunflower field in Rocky River, Ohio to enjoy some fresh air. This same sunflower field is also in Sandusky, Ohio. Both fields are run by the Non-Profit organization called "Prayers From Maria", named after a 7-year old girl who died from cancer. Every section of the field has a small card with a child or teenager's name and picture on it along with a sweet message from themselves or their family. It is really touching to read but also sad because these individuals died from brain cancer. Everyone visiting the field feels a sense of hope as they walk along the sunflowers and I hope you do too when you visit. I certainly felt at peace. The sunflowers only bloom from August to September every year (3-4 weeks total) so make it part of your trip to Cleveland this or next summer. The sunflower field is free to visit but donations are welcome. **** - 29/100 total reviews in 2021 - 449 total overall Yelp reviews - Over 5,500 total Yelp business photos - Reviewed on 9 May 2021

I was encouraged to play with the fur babies. And when we decided on a bonded pair of senior brothers who look more bovine than feline, WE were the ones treated like rock stars. Being able to get nearly all the essentials there with a teeny-tiny price tag was a sigh of relief and that money goes back into the shelter, too. If you or your charges have sensory issues, I would recommend ear protection as it does get loud, but that's just par for the course at nearly all shelters. This place is the real deal!
