The cashier was very nice. He offered the made in house ice tea to my friend and he bought it but he didn't seem to be moved by this drink item. I tried asking him if he liked it and he said "yeah." In a vague tone so I am not sure what else to write on the ice tea. I ordered a "Weinerpeg Hot Dog" it was okay. The hot dog itself was made of beef but it wasn't very flavourful. Not super beefy juicy-ish which was fine by me because I try my best not to eat beef but I was curious to see how this meal tasted because of the toppings, cheese curds. And they were delicious! The cheese curds were slightly melted and delicious. Funny enough because the first time I came here was earlier in the year and my friend and I had their regular poutine and it was pretty good. Not the best poutine ever but definitely not the worst. Their isn't a whole lot of options for meals on their menu at The Forks but I am sure the other hot dogs might be tastier.

Ambiance for the entire Forks Market is hard to beat. Service at counter was quick and friendly on a busy Saturday. I got the Wienerpeg. The cheese curds were not my favorite but everything else was good. Looking back and see the other reviews, should have got the poutine! read more

Poutine was no joke. Fries are skin-on and seemed freshly cut. They not quite shoestring but thin enough to have a lot of crispy surface. The pulled pork on top was fantastic as well, delightfully smokey and savory and not at all what I'd have expected to come out of a hot dog place. Gravy was tasty and just thick enough that it coated but didn't soak the fried, but not so thick that it got gummy. Order was easily enough to feed two people. Honestly I didn't have room to get a hot dog after the poutine so can't really speak to those. But the pulled pork poutine? Absolutely recommend. read more

Wienerpeg offers great value entrees for a great price! We had the pulled pork poutine, and it was delicious and MASSIVE. Definitely recommend if you're looking for good poutine in the Forks. read more

I know we should have ordered a hot dog at a place called Wienerpeg, but the description of the poutine just enthralled us. My wife and I are so glad that we ordered the poutine with the pulled pork. The meat was delectable, the gravy nothing short of excellent, fries were just perfect, and the addition of the Atlanta white BBQ sauce we thought would be interesting but turned out to be delicious. The portion size was just right for two old folks like us. Anything more would have been far too much. If the dogs are anywhere near as good as the poutine, this is a "must eat" stall in The Forks Market. read more

First, I'd like to say that I love hot dogs. On my visit to Winnipeg and one of my favourite places, The Forks, I saw that a new food venue popped up where Skinners used to be. Wienerpeg! Clever name. I was there twice during my visit to Wpg. I had the poutine and real brewed iced tea the first time. Delicious! Their shoestring fries are perfect. Gravy was very flavorful and they use real cheese curds (as far as I can tell). The second visit we had a New York and a Scandinavian hotdog, a poutine, and iced tea. I am not sure that I have the right descriptive words, but the hot dogs were delicious! Weiners had a firm, dense consistency. Buns were fresh. Toppings on cheeseburger included cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, and chilli. We thought that the burger could've been that much better with some lettuce and tomato, but I do want to add that these toppings could very well be on one of their bigger burgers. The ambiance was very quiet when we went 6:30 PM on a Thursday. They were busy, but it was a respectful environment. There is parking on the left side of the building, picnic tables on the right.

Poutine was decent - not the best I've had in town but not the worst. The portion was very small, and I was surprised to see it priced almost as much as an entree on the bill - they don't have it on the menu a la carte but you can upgrade a side of fries to poutine for $4. Since the pasta dish didn't normally come with fries I asked if they could just do a side of poutine and they said yes (and then charged $14 for it). It wasn't worth it. The blackened chicken fettuccine was disappointing. Our host highly recommended it, and it's a dish I generally enjoy enough I even make it at home. The blackening rub they use had almost no spice, which to me defeats part of the point of "blackened" chicken - the taste was more on the herby side. The noodles themselves were bland and the sauce was almost non-existent - sadly underseasoned. I chopped the chicken up into tiny bits and mixed it all together so that they flavors from the chicken could add at least some excitement to the pasta, but while it helped it didn't quite save the dish. Overall the experience was fairly mediocre. Maybe I should have gotten a burger, but I went with the host's recommendation instead for a dish I normally quite enjoy and came away disappointed. The price of the side of poutine is on me - I didn't ask ahead of time. But it came out to be nearly double what I'd expected for half as much as I'd thought it would be.

It used to only be available in selected days, but because of the pandemic the owners made it available everyday. The cost may seem a bit steep at $23, but it's worth it when you see the portion size. You'd have to be extremely hungry to finish the food off in one go...which I barely finished! The ox tail was extremely flavourful and juicy; I can definitely see where the hype is cause I've seriously never had food this filling and satisfying. Famena's is on Doordash during these tough times, but please, for the love of god, order from them directly. They deserve your support right now and are barely hanging on. I wanna try their roti next time, but moreover I really hope this place survives the pandemic cause I intend to be a regular here as much as I can and get to know the wonderful owners more.
