Upon arriving, we were greeted and offered warm face cloths and water. On our second day, my husband and I were hoping to take advantage of the golf course. The reception offered us clubs to borrow and we enjoyed an afternoon on the driving range. They also offer a DVD library at the reception where you can check out movies. In addition, they have a spa on site. Although appointments fill up quickly, if you reserve a spot ahead of time, you take advantage of this amenity as well. The inside is warm and welcoming. A fireplace greets you in the lobby with an open seating area. We arrived shortly after Halloween and the hotel was decorated beautifully in fall decor. On our first night, we opted to eat dinner at the resort restaurant and really enjoyed the ambiance! The next morning we wondered downstairs to the bar/restaurant and indulged in some traditional Irish coffee. To this day, it's the best Irish coffee I have ever had. Later in the day, we enjoyed lunch on the deck, and enjoyed the view of the golf course while we ate. Overall, the staff was incredibly hospitable and the amenities were on par. I only dream to return someday!

Its well organized with lockers for your bags/jackets and a café at the front servicing drinks, snacks, hot food. The course is supposed to be easy as its built for children but I even found it hard as an adult, no golfing skills. Children would love it for a birthday party or to kill some time at the weekend. The décor is Azteca rainforest with lots of sound effects(rain, thunder and monkeys hanging from trees gave me a giggle even as an adult).

Prices for a round with 18 holes was €9.00 per adult, €8 per kid (with family bundle prices available) and boom, hook up with this place on a Tuesday evening and it's 2 rounds for the price of 1. They have two trails ye can use, Mayan and Aztec so different features and layout but each had enough easy putts as well as the more challenging. There is loads of audio noises to replicate being in the jungle so this adds a little fun to it and they animations, monkeys in the trees, there was also a swinging monkey so there was little surprises along the route. Play is kitted out well, there is lockers available to dump the jackets, handbags, etc. however they work with a €1 coin deposit system so come prepped with a €1 coin or the friendly staff can help break a note for you. There is also a cafe onsite, so you can hangout pre/post game... Usual options of teas/coffee/soft drinks and some snacks. There is also a gift store which I am sure the kids just love and is possibly one of them things parents resent (Mam, Dad... I want, I want....) Really enjoyed my evening here and would love to come back with another group of friends or treat my nieces and nephews here some day.

Wind never even really picked up either. Perfect scoring conditions. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant upstairs is first class. The nines are all wonderful. The yellow nine (not part of the Championship Course) is fun. Shorter than the red and blue but still challenging with fescue and gorse lying in wait for offline shots. The signature 15th hole is so difficult even without wind. Beautiful, challenging, and fun. €193 gets you all 27 holes, €10 meal credit, and a yardage book. 10/10, would go broke here again. P.S. I shot a 77!

The course is beautiful to be sure- rolling hills and wetlands tied to the backdrop of palms and the sea- its really pretty remarkable. If you are not familiar with these types of courses (I was not) its easy to be fooled by the beauty because the course was tough-really tough! We had a caddy (no carts allowed) who shared a lot of great local history and stories of some of the pros that have played the course. Besides posting a score that most MLB pitchers fastballs can't reach, this was a great morning. The people were nice, the setting was amazing and the course was challenging. You get a lunch with your greens fees. For me it was a once in a lifetime type of course but walking the fairways, looking at the sea, and having a good laugh made this a very memorable course and experience.

This is a conference center/golfing destination that is geared toward larger groups. I was supposed to share a room with a friend, and we were told there was a water issue so we were upgraded to each have a room. Awesome, right? The room was a nice size, and the bed was very comfortable. But the air conditioning wasn't working in either -- or in the hallway. When we told reception about this, we were told, "Maybe you're not used to the air conditioning in Ireland -- it's not as strong as in the States." We'd already been in Ireland for two weeks, and in every other hotel that had air conditioning, the AC worked perfectly. They said they'd send someone up to look at it; when we returned from dinner, nothing had been done and there was a small fan in the room that did nothing. I tried opening the window but had to close it quickly because it was so buggy. The next day, I called someone else at the front desk, and they said, "Yes, yes, we know about this, we will look into it." The staff feel like they're made up of people who are there to be trained; a real mish-mash of folks who didn't seem to particularly enjoy their work. Unlike every other hotel we stayed in throughout Ireland, where people told us proudly how long they'd worked in a particular place, stories about the area, and just about themselves, the people working at Carton House barely made eye contact (with a few exceptions). Understaffed bar and restaurant.
