A Wicked Time! With clear sky in the forecast Wednesday evening I attended the Apollo Victoria Theatre for the 7:30p showing of Wicked. Show Experience Set to the theme of the Wizard of Oz Wicked referenced my favorite characters by shedding light on the events that led up to and proceeded the original storyline. The set was easy on the eyes with fantastic lighting and skill shown by the cast that exceeded my expectations. Food and Drink It's pretty cool that you can order both refreshments and snacks from the comfort of your chair by downloading the Ordertorium app on your smartphone at anytime with no service fee. Even during the 20 minute intermission the floor ushers come by to take and deliver orders. With a full bar availble on both the ground level and first level of the theatre there's no excuse to be without a drink. Ordered the Green Elixar cocktail and found it to be a great companion during the performance. Overall The show was a wonderful experience for myself and my guest. I would reccomend to anyone looking for an immersive story and entertaining night. Pro Tip: Dress Circle seats C21 and C22 have an excellent view, but are a little snug with the leg room.

Great production, great performance, great story, great singing, great sound, great music, gr..... Yes I can go on. These things are quite subjective, so I think people who wants to see wicked will see it even if the review is bad, and people who won't want to see it would not be moved even if I give a stellar review. So I won't say too much about the musical. Reality is that it is an award winning musical for a reason. I have seen my fair share of both musical and operas and I think this is certainly up there. So rather than talking about the musical, here's a couple of tips instead: - it's a musical that takes up big stage presence, so upstairs first row might actually be better in view as you can see what's happening behind as well. Front row downstairs might actually struggle a bit as the range and angle is quite steep. - if you want to buy drinks, I suggest download their app to purchase. Your order will be delivered to you either at intermission or before the halves. Same price, but it means you can wait for the order with the comfort of your seat rather than standing at the queue. The app info is easily obtained at the theatre (I felt like it's inappropriate to call out other apps here). - get there a little earlier, Victoria station area is just generally a little busy, and quite big

The first time I watched Wicked, it instantly made it's way up to the #1 spot of all the theatre productions I'd ever seen. 16 of them later, it's still in my top 3 favorites. The witty script (and the humor with political undertones), the set, the music, the costumes... all spectacular. Such a clever twist on the Wizard of Oz.

I have been to quite a few musicals in my day and I have to say that Wicked is the best by far! I'm almost angry at myself for waiting as long as I did to see this show. It has played all over the US, but it took a trip across the pond to get me to bite the bullet and finally see it. I'm by no means a fan of 'The Wizard of Oz,' so I was reluctant despite all the rave reviews and accolades. The music, staging and casting were beyond amazing. The songs surpassed those of typical musicals. It was actual music that I would want to hear outside of the theater. Both of the lead actresses had amazing voices and each had magnificent stage presence! I can't wait to see this musical again and again, it's that good. I can't sing the praises of this show enough. Pun intended!

The show was INCREDIBLE and the cast / crew and orchestra did an amazing job! I would give it 5 stars but the venue only had one ladies room that I could find and the line was Suuuuuper long during intermission causing me to miss the first little bit of the second half :( Needless to say that's the ONLY thing I could say that isn't all the way thumbs up-ish! My seat was in the circle section B25 and the view was awesome -- slight obstruction by a safety rail but it was no biggie for me to dodge it when necessary. the costumes are stunning / the music of course awesome / and this particular cast did a great job honoring the script and incredible creative legacy of the original cast :)

I booked the ticket through the last minute.com a week before. It was my first time to go to a theater in London. Wicked is very popular theater in Japan as well being produced by the most authorized theatrical company.But I had never seen it before. I had checked the story in advance so I could understand even in English. Actually I couldn't catch what all performers said or sang. But I quite enjoyed the amazing theater!!! It's worth it.

Great merchandise sold here, I would suggest taking your own water! £5.40 for two bottles of water was a bit much!!

Decided to go see wicked again and have to say it was amazing. Well worth the visit and every single penny! The cast had it all, great costumes, amazing personalities and even better singing voices. The show also has a much needed interval for toilet breaks and ice cream time! I had goosebumps throughout most of the show and wish it would never end. The wicked is truly amazing and leaves the wizard of oz in the dust and shows the true meaning behind the franchise! Totally recommend going to every. Truly is one of the best west end shows out there and I couldn't fault it in any way possible! ** one quick note, do NOT use your phone during the performance. It's rude and puts the cast and audience off; a few rude people tonight but they soon got told off! **

This show is fantastic! I genuinely laughed, cried and smiled all the way through. The untold story of the witches from The Wizard of Oz, the show is so well written and such a clever twist on the original tale of The Wizard of Oz. I don't want to give away any spoilers but the inter woven connections and references to the other main characters from the Wizard of Oz are wonderfully done. The sets and costumes are gorgeous and I cannot get "Because I knew you" out of my head. A beautiful story about the power of friendship and kindness.

A truly genius piece of theatre, and worth a look for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. The music is perfect, and the cast were fantastic. There was a few changes from the original score (they switched octaves or talked-in-song through some of it) but it was STILL a fantastic show. The tech is done fantastically, the costumes, the makeup; it really creates an atmosphere. And the story itself? A new take on The Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of The East's perspective. Watch out for the clever hints of what's going to happen later in the play (brainless/lions/celebrations/water- THATS ALL YOU'RE GETTING!) There were a few mic difficulties, and we ended up with Glinda's understudy, which was a little disappointing as she wasn't as well rehearsed in the songs as I had expected, but these things are unavoidable sometimes. HOWEVER the theatre itself. When you enter it has a really Oz-ian themed foyer, with over-priced gifty/souveniry bits, I tend to steer clear of. If you insist on buying drinks at the interval for a treat, order them at the bar BEFORE the show, and they'll be there waiting for you. I also recommend heading to the ladies prior to the show or right at the start of the interval, the queue was literally all the way down the stairs and 4/5 toilets broke due to the high demand. But on the whole? A truly fantastic night out, worth every penny (especially if you get the 17.50 tickets from last minute.com on a slow night- weekday nights or any matinee but saturday) and you can move straight down a couple of rows as the show starts! read more

I've seen Wicked 3 times so far and would happily go back for another 3 if not more! It's a great musical with a good story, catchy and rememberable songs, fantastic cast and really good lighting and visual effects. Not forgetting that their interval ice creams are very tasty as well! read more

Such wonderful performance! It's across street to victoria station, and I really enjoyed the show. The only down side was the restroom was so tiny for female. Overall, highly recommend it when you visit London. This became one of the best experience for me when I visited London! read more

I've now seen Wicked twice, once in New York and once with the London production. I will admit that the British accents are a bit odd (given that I'm so used to hearing these characters with accents from middle America) but again, the stunning costumes, sets and music blew me away and I would happily see it again here in London read more

This is without doubt the best musical production I have ever seen.I am generally a fan of musicals and had heard a lot of hype about Wicked,so when I finally got the chance to see it I was very excited.It runs at the Apollo Victoria theatre which is a very nice place and is the story of Elphebathe wicked witch of the west(or how she comes to be known as so)and Glinda the good witch.It charts their run through college together and events that occur prior to The Wizard of Oz.It is a truly breathtaking story filled with sad,happy,laugh out loud moments,a love story and some great songs aswell.For Good is my favourite song but Defying Gravity is spectacularly done with some great effects on stage. read more

Fabulous musical about the story of the wicked witch of the west & Glinda the goid fairy - the early years. Brilliant scenery, excellent costumes & a very clever story line. Kerry Ellis as Elphaba was outstanding & Louise Dearman as Glinda was breath taking too. If only they could star opposite one another..?! read more

Being quite the musicals fan, I have seen almost all that is on offer on the London scene. In my humble opinion, only Les Miserables can compare to Wicked, which is an enchanting and breathtaking popular musical that would charm anyone, no matter their age or background. That said, it is significantly more modern than the traditional Les Mis or Phantom, but the tunes are so catchy that everyone will be enchanted. Costumes are spectacular, as are the special effects. seeing this will definitely inspire you to "defy gravity"!!! read more

This is just such a good show! The music is fantastic and the storyline very cleverly interwoven with the original Wizard of Oz story. the final song sung by the 2 witches is absolutely beautiful (It may well be that we will never meet again) and Defying Gravity is just superb. Without doubt - the best musical in the West End! I'm telling you (having seen it 9 times nowand that's saying something in itself!) the clever storyline will blow you away like Dorothy's house, the superb leading ladies have incredible voices, the jokes in the show will make young people and old people laugh together and by the end of the show, I promise you that you will think differently not just about the wicked witch of the west, but about yourselves and the people around you. Must see! read more

A beautiful theatre and an excellent production, perfect for a family night out. Front row dress circle seats offered the perfect view but they don't come cheaply! The benefit this theatre offers is that the higher up / less expensive seats don't evoke the same fear of impending doom they often do in many others. read more

Show was fantastic, but the theaters leg room was excruciatingly painfully limited. I'm only 5 9" and I cant imagine a tall guy making it through the entire performance without kicking the person in front of them right out of their chair so they could stretch their legs. One of those "ahhhhh I really needed that!" moments where you just dont care that you just hurled some poor unsuspecting patron over the balcony. read more

This musical has everything from comedy to romance to sadness and tradgedy. The characters are painted in a completely different light to The Wizard of Oz, it's almost revealing the true story. The effects are brilliant and always highten the dramatic points in the show. One of the best musicals to come about for years. read more

Simply awesome. The venue was great, and the show will be remembered forever. Both leads were played by the understudies, but they shone so bright it really didn't matter. My second ever theatre show and i'm already thinking of booking again. The whole experience was truly beyond words and has to be seen, and heard to be believed. Hear 'Defying Gravity' song in it's true , awe-inspiring setting, other than being murdered by teenagers on talent shows. read more

Ah Wicked! One of the best musicals in the world! I have seen the musical several times and it gets better every time. The cast is amazing and the price is definitely worth it. Louise Dearman is a very confusing and funny Elphaba. I believe she is as good as Idina Menzel. This show is a must watch! read more

Oh dear. I know the Yanks love this show but just...words are failing me. I guess I was really excited to see this show considering its phenomenal success and popularity but it was bad, really bad. We went to see Wicked in the Apollo Victoria in September. It was our first experience of a West End show and it certainly wont be the last. We were lucky enough to be allocated fantastic seats, just 10 rows from the stage. The cast were superb, faultless and very professional - Elphaba, the green witch was both Witty and Moving, her voice was sensational and her rendition of the song Defying Gravity brought the house down & the song The Wizard and I moved me to tears. Glinda, the Good Witch, was Hilarious & had everyone in stitches every time she spoke! The songs were all fantastic and i've since bought the CD which I play constantly. I'd definately recommend Wicked to anyone who enjoys Musical Theatre. Even though I've seen it once it wouldnt stop me going back a second time, its one of those productions that will be a success for years to come. I can see why it's become Londons best selling Musical. read more

Wonderful way to spend a few hours. I booked the cheap seats very last minute as a treat for my 2 young daughters (and me!) because the 2 musicals we wanted to see, Hairspray and Mama Mia, were too expensive. I'm glad that we took the chance and went as it was brilliant and very entertaining and funny. The girls understood the message. Since the theatre is so small the cheap seats are close enough to the stage to not feel like the cheap seats. read more

The royal court is a place that divides opinions…read more Some call it pretentious, some innovative. Clearly being a stones throw away from Sloan Square Station it will attract the well-to-do spectator. The Royal Court Theatre is famed for its new writing, contemporary style and its inclusion of youth. It opens itself up to submissions from young writers and will often be overrun by budding play wrights and drama students. It sees big names in contemporary theatre such as Caryl Churchill and Jackie Kay but also sieves out some really interesting and varied performances from budding artists. I can't say everything I've seen there I'll be writing home about, but the last performance I went to see, Choir Boy in the upstairs space was the right mix of talent and entertainment, with a bit of moral dilemma thrown in. The space itself if pretty gorgeous. While the downstairs theatre is more traditional and larger, the upstairs space is more intimate. The audience are places so that they are literally staring directly at one another. Overall, I think it's a case of personal taste if you will bond with this theatre and its style.

And it was clear that those objectives have remained a constant since the last time I was at the theatre in 2007. I had to book my ticket several weeks ahead from the USA, and appreciated that there were no extra service charges included in the purchase. Pickup was very efficient right at the main desk, and it seemed like the facilities have been attended to with care. Although my seat was in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped area of the theatre, it did not feel especially cramped. Thank you, Royal Court, for being a beacon of sustainability, class and creativity in London's theatre world!

There were numerous outlets to charge devices and L'Occitan toiletries in the bathroom. There are both stairs and a lift to the rooms. The Club is located around the corner from Pimlico road for easy access to restaurants and antique shops and Daylesford Organic, which is a brilliant place for lunch. Sloane Square and Kings Road are just up the road for more shopping and dinning options. It was quick and easy to get a taxi outside the Club both day and night. I don't think you would find a better place to stay in London. I highly recommend The Sloane Club and I cannot wait to return.

Such an absolute pleasure attending a performance of "Wicked" in London, and it was hands down one of the best experiences I've had. As a fan of this Broadway show, having seen it multiple times, this particular production exceeded all expectations. First and foremost, the theater itself was stunning. From the moment I stepped inside, I was in awe of its grandeur and elegance. The architecture and ambiance created the perfect setting for an enchanting evening of theater. In addition to the breathtaking theater, the overall experience was elevated by the exceptional service provided by the theater staff. The employees were friendly, attentive, and truly went the extra mile to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of the audience. Their professionalism and enthusiasm added an extra layer of excitement to the already magical atmosphere. Of course, no theater experience is complete without some tasty snacks, and the selection at the venue did not disappoint. From classic theater treats to more gourmet options, there was something for every palate. 'Wicked' the musical is amazing - 'Wicked' the book is not! I am so glad I saw the musical version before reading the book as I think the book would have put me off altogether! The wonderful story or Elphelpha is told beautifully, and although you may not be familiar with the songs, they are so powerful, by the end you are moved to tears and feel sorry for the wicked witch. The whole story ties in with The Wizard of Oz, and seeing that story from a different perspective is really interesting, but even if you are not familiar with the traditional story of Oz, you won't lose the plot as the writing is excellent and the performances magical! An amazing experience, my best tip if you are on a budget is to turn up at the theatre before it opens (about 10am, check the website) be first in the queue and try and get day seats (limited to 2 per person). They are really good value and the seats are excellent. read more

I don't think this is really a show that people rave about, but I personally really enjoyed it. There is quite a lot of fantasy and fun in the show which I lapped up. What I liked most about this show was the storyline. I loved that the main character was someone who was isolated and misunderstood by the popular crowd, even though she was the one who had the most good in her and the most potential to change the world in a positive way. It was then inspiring to see her materialising her goodness and following her heart, even though the rest of her people still couldn't manage to understand that she was the real leader of them all. Some good songs, some funny moments.. though some of the script was weak, laboured and not funny in places and the acting of the wizard was pretty atrocious. But I enjoyed it nevertheless. read more

I really am not into musicals but my wife is and as it was a special birthday I tagged along. I'm glad I did as unexpectedly, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. We had brilliant seats in the stalls (m20 and m21 - I researched on theatremonkey). Having a rather short lady in front of me helped to provide an unhindered view. The story line adds another dimension to the Wizard of Oz as you find out how the straw man, tin man, scarecrow and lion were created. I'm not sure who it is playing Glinda but she regularly had me chuckling and there were plenty of laughs throughout the show. read more

Wicked has fast become one of my favourite musicals on the West End. I've seen it 3 times now, twice with Idina Menzel as the lead role. Now my aim is to save up and see it again sat on the front row. From the costumes to the set itself, everything perfectly sets the scene of being in another far away land. The dancing and music are wonderful, and guarranteed to get stuck in your head! I particularly love the little references to the Wizard of Oz that are scattered throughout. Definitely worth watching, I've introduced many friends to it and they all fell in love too. read more

Initially this show did not appeal to me enough to go and see it. However, after watching an episode of 'Ugly Betty' which featured 'Wicked', I was hooked and instantly wanted to see it. I was not disappointed. The songs are great. The story is great. And the cast are amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and would highly recommend it to anyone, of any age. I really loved it, as a 17 year old, but I know that any age group would also love it. From the youngest child, to the oldest adult. A truly great show, and definitely worth watching when it is next being shown. read more

I was a bit hesitant about seeing Wicked as it is a new story and new musical and I tend to like seeing things I am familiar with. I think given it is £50+ to see it this is understandable as you don't want to blow your money. Not only did I not blow my money, this show blew me away! The sets are incredible, the special effects really good and the actors are FANTASTIC! It sent shivers down my spine. I defy anyone to see 'defying gravity' without getting prickles on their neck! I sat in the gods and the view was still superb. Highly recommended!! read more

Wicked is my favourite show by a mile! I've seen it 5 times now (yes, I'm a loser) and it's incredible! Kerry Ellis is the most talented singer in the West End (or Broadway after her recent stint there) and Dianne Pilkington who plays Glinda is hilarious in her role. The songs are catchy, the story moving, the acting/singing fantastic and the ovation that they receive every night is well deserved. It really does have it's loyal fans who go back all the time now and at £15 for weeknight performances you can see why! read more

Wer den Zauberer von Oz mag, ist in diesem Musical ganau richtig. Hier geht es um die böse Hexe, die in Wicked gar nicht so böse ist, wie sie im Zauberer von Oz dargestellt wird. Ich konnte gar nicht genug bekommen und habe mir anschließend das Buch gekauft, um noch etwas länger was davon zu haben. Als großer Musicalfan finde ich es sehr schade, daß es in Frankfurt und Umgebung keine Musicals gibt. Die nächste Stadt in der Stücke aufgeführt werden, wäre somit Stuttgardt. read more

This show is awesome. It's an enchanting and thrilling show which will keep you entertained throughout. It's far more modern than the likes of Les Mis or Phantom, there are times it's very funny and up to date, the costumes are exceptional, the cast outstanding and the music is incredible! A really great musical, which took itself from the wizard of Oz story, a real treat for all the family. Be careful when choosing your seats, i was sat up in the circle whichwere quite expensive seats and we felt like were miles away from the stage. If you can buy stalls seats,do becuae the experience will be much better for you. But a really great show allround, we waited at stage door and got loads of autographs as well. I went to see this show last year for my birthday. I went to see the show knowing that it was something about some witch and i thought it was about he yellow brick road! It was quite simply amazingi couldnt believe how good this production was and expecially here in london. Even the theatre when you sit down is decorated acoordingly.this show is a defo must see..i dont think there is anyone who is not impressed with this show once they have seen it! read more

I was so sceptical of this, but having been given th eoportunity for cheap tickets I went along with some friends only to have a totally fantastic evening. The sets are amazing and include a giant dragon above the stage which as the opening scene opens it's mouth and starts moving. The singing is good and the acting faultless. Really funny too, and an inventive storyline. Musical theatre at its rip-roaring best. read more

well this musical title really says it all.WICKED!...and it truely is!...the cast are great, the talent is endless and the set is really clever too!....if i had to fault anything it would be that the seats at the very back can not see a thing becasue of the size of the theatre so i would advise that you paid a little bit more to get a seat closer to the stage..! read more

Welch ein Traum. Mein schönster Musicalbesuch. Erstklassiges Essemble, tolles Bühnenbild. Auch wenn das Apollotheater nicht ganz so schön gelegen ist, war der Abend ein Zauber rundum. Ich empfehle die Karten bei einen der Ticketshops in London zu kaufen, weil sie dort günstiger sind, als an der Abendkasse im Theater. Ein absoluter Muss Besuch in London. read more

Fantastic musical, saw it in previews with idina menzal. If you can aim to get the day tickets, front row in the stalls for a very cheap price! Suitable for all..esp fans of the wizard of Oz! read more
